It's now been more than a year and 18,000 miles since we bought our 2011 Chevrolet Volt. After having the car for so long, we'd like to share some of our lasting likes and dislikes about the car to give you an all-encompassing view of our time with the plug-in hybrid. Overall, we're pretty satisfied with the Volt, and despite its quirky cabin configuration and powertrain, this is a real car that can accommodate everyday use, according to Cars.com Executive Editor Joe Wiesenfelder.
My first day with my 2013 Chevy Volt getting 115 MPG
I sold my Prius, and after finding a demo model with 3500 miles on it, I must say I'm happy with the deal. Drove from the dealer in Jacksonville Florida to home for a total of 132 miles and got 115 mpg, 78 miles was electric, 54 was gas and I used 1.16 gallons of fuel. After owning two Prius I am impressed with the smooth quiet ride.

Competition in the eco car segment is hotting up, and the Vauxhall Ampera is a real contender. Its CO2 emissions are lower than any efficient diesel or hybrid currently on the market. That means there's no road tax to pay, and it's exempt from the London Congestion Charge, too. The Ampera can be plugged into the mains to charge up the batteries (a process which takes around four hours) and can run on electricity alone for around 50 miles, so you shouldn't need a drop of petrol for most journeys. And even when you do need to travel a bit further, economy is so good that you will rarely have to visit a petrol station. But for all of its green credentials, the Ampera offers strong performance. It's fast, features sporty looks and an attractive high-spec interior. All this comes at a price though, as the Ampera is more expensive than its hybrid and all-electric competitors. And if you think it looks familiar, that's because it's the same car underneath as the Chevrolet Volt.

In this video I give a full in depth tour of Chevrolet's newest extended range electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt. Introduced as a 2011 model in the northern states, the 2012 has a few minor quality and feature improvements. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. Take it on a thorough test drive through the city during the day as well as night time. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Nissan Leaf review and road test 2013
The Nissan Leaf isn't the most attractive of cars, with bulging headlights and a sloped nose-like front-end, but it does represent the most practical electric car on sale today.
Unusually for an electric car, the Nissan Leaf is an entirely new vehicle and not a petrol or diesel car that has been stripped out and fitted with an electric battery.
This means the Nissan Leaf feels like a completed package, with a well thought-out design and plenty of space thanks to clever positioning of the battery and electric powertrain.
If you can look past the outlandish exterior design, the Nissan Leaf is more than capable of being a fully functional hatchback, in terms of both comfort and practicality...

Hybrid Electric Comparison: Chevy Volt vs Nissan Leaf
This is my review of the 2013 Nissan Leaf and 2013 Chevrolet Volt. Both excellent cars and considered near full mode electric drive. Volt offer 40 miles of electric drive with an on-board gas engine generator to get you distance driving. The Nissan Leaf offers 100 miles on electric however has limited range.
