OK here's how i did the rest of the repair, i made sure this time it was
If you own a Land Rover there's no doubt that at some stage it is going to
need some welding, welding vehicles is definately a skill in itself, i've
known professional fabricator/welders shy away from this kind of work, but
once you acquire this skill you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.

V8 Land Rover first start in 2 years
Thos 1974 Series III 109 stripped a gear tooth (or several) a couple of
years ago and hasn't been run since. Purely out of interest, I decided to
see if it would still go, with impressive results. The Landy was originally
fitted with the 2.6-litre 6-cylinder IOE engine, but is now running a
3.5-litre Rover V8 with SU carbs from an SD1.
