POV drive Subaru Impreza WRX STi RA Racing. Point Of View video driving the 2000 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type RA Version 6 WRC limited edition, only 2000 units produced. GC8 chassis and EJ207DW2PR aka EJ207 engine. turbo is IHI VF29. TY754VB1EA transmission and full chassis code is GC8G4DD. Version VI JDM STi Type RA, originally was right hand drive (RHD) but was rebuilt to Left hand drive (LHD) so it would be registrable in my country. Currently it has thrown rod bearing so I will rebuild the engine after the new year. Can't wait to drive her again, pretty much the only thing that makes me happy nowadays. I just can't believe how 30 minute ride in this car makes you so calm and cures depression. How much horsepower it has? I don't know. According to Subaru it has 280 horsepower (280 PS / 276 horsepower to be more precise) at the crank from factory but many source claim that it actually had around 300 horsepower and Subaru only claimed 280 PS due to Gentlemen's agreement (Japanese automakers agreed not to produced car with power more than 280 PS). Considering that it has some mods I would estimate for it to have slightly over 300hp at the crank. All STi Ra version come with short gearing rations from factory (4.444), so the acceleration is amazing but top speed suffers. Despite that the car still easily does over 200 km/h (120 mph) with removed limiter which prevents you from going over 180 km/h.

We quickly became fans of the new WRX once we got a chance to review the car late last year: http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/driven-2015-subaru-wrx/ Our only regret from the time we spent with the ‘Rex was that we didn’t get a chance to capture the driving experience on the video. This week, we’re finally able to remedy that issue with this Limited trim example, which is coated in Crystal White Pearl paint. In terms of motivation, the new WRX gets a new direct-injected 2.0-liter motor based off the unit used in the BRZ. However, unlike the BRZ, this mill gets a twin-scroll turbocharger and Intercooler, which results in 268 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. peak torque at 2,000-5,200 rpm. While a CVT is now optional on the WRX, our tester today is equipped with the fan-favorite six-speed manual gearbox. Inside, a 4.3-inch LCD screen atop the center stack provides various information including performance data, audio and Bluetooth info, and also serves as a backup camera, while a new, flat-bottomed telescoping steering wheel offers integrated audio and cruise controls. The range-topping Limited model also includes leather-trimmed upholstery, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and automatic low-beam LED headlights.
