I've long had an obsession with Van's. I know, you'd think being the Vice President of AMS I'd be more inclined to build a GTR or something else we specialize in. Instead my mind is filled with crazy ideas of modifying big, heavy vehicles that should not be fast into the most ridiculous street sleepers.
My Van fascination must've all started with the A-Team episodes I watched in my childhood. For my first Van project my buddy Brandon and I built a 13 second Powerstroke Diesel Van back in 2005. Then I converted our AMS shop Van into an A-Team Van in 2006. Since then I got distracted building the World's Quickest & Fastest Hearse and a couple Bluesmobile replicas but that is another story for another time...
I originally saw this turbo Chevy Express Van in a video from a drag strip in Las Vegas in late 2009. The title was "turbo Van Kills ZR-1″. The title really made the video go viral (at least for a video about a Van). Being a Van lover, it really caught my attention since you don't see many fast Vans out there for good reason. Although a simple video, it showed this Van hole-shotting the ZR-1 which clearly had no traction but it was still pretty cool. I remember thinking to myself, this video does not do this sweet-ass Van justice!
At the time I really knew very little about the LSX engines but this video made a real impression on me. Fast forward a few years (and a turbo LSX project of my own) later, I stumbled upon a for sale ad for this beast. I knew I had to have it. After a few phone calls with the owner, Tyler, and I arranged to fly out and pick the Van up.
On the way home to Chicago all I could think about was making a few modifications and getting it to the track with some proper filming equipment to make the video that this unique creation deserved. After making a few improvements I set out to put her firmly into the 12′s and make a video to show what this Van is all about.
Here is the video that I envisioned years ago when I first saw this Van.
Alpha Performance Wannagofast 2014 Chicago 1/2 Mile Highlights
The crew here at AMS is still recovering from the first 2014 Chicago
Wannagofast event. We had a ton of fun even with Mother Nature throwing us
a curve ball Saturday afternoon. Our team arrived at the venue in force
with more than 10 Alpha cars ranging from mild to customer owned 1,800+HP
Alpha 16 builds aiming to take home the fastest trap speed of the weekend.

Super car driver idiots [NO pics, only videos]
I got bored with all the "super car crashes"-videos here on YouTube that
only contained PICTURES, CRAPPY MUSIC or/and clips of pure racing cars on
official racing events.
This compilation DOES NOT include pure racing cars on official racing
events - only real life FAILures on the STREETS, made by people with more
money than driving skills...
(Though, even the best car drivers can crash too of course.)
Notice 1: The "Dodge Ram" may not be a super car, but still it's a SRT10
with the 8.3L Viper V10 which produces 510hp. Pretty super for a pick up,
don't you think? It has more power than several of the cars in this video.
The intention with this video was to show that skills doesn't come with
Notice 2: Tire is the preferred spelling in the U.S. and Canada. Tyre is
preferred in most varieties of English outside North America. And I'm from
Sweden. So please think outside your box (country), you who claims "tyre"
is incorrect spelling.
Junkyard Turbo Swap! Chevy-Powered 1971 Datsun 240Z Autocross Thrash - Roadkill Ep. 26
What do you get when you cross a rusted 1971 Datsun 240Z with a Chevy 4.3L
V6 and a turbo from a Ford Power Stroke
Diesel? The Rotsun! During Roadkill Episode 25, Freiburger and Finnegan
revived the Rotsun expecting it to dominate in the 9-car autocross showdown
of previous Roadkill project cars. It also needed to beat a 2014 Kia Rio 5,
but failed to do so with the Rotsun shamefully breaking down before
completing a decent lap. So in this episode: revenge. After swapping in the
mismatched turbo and making nearly 400
rear-wheel horsepower, the guys head to
the autocross at the Goodguys 5th Spring Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona
and mingle with fans on their way to a rematch with that dastardly Kia.
Roadkill appears every fourth Friday on the Motor Trend channel.

"This Is AMS" Compilation
Every year, we put together a handful of videos for our annual AMS
Christmas party. We wanted to share one with our fans for the very first
time. This compilation was from our 2013 Christmas party and covers a few
accomplishments achieved by our customers and shop cars throughout the past
few years. You may have seen some of these cars in action before, it is
somewhat informal, but we hope you enjoy!

Alpha Performance 2014 E63 AMG 4Matic Runs Back to Back 10 Second Passes
On June 26th we took our 2014 Mercedes E63 AMG 4Matic to Great Lakes
Dragway for some preliminary testing of the Alpha 7 upgrade package. Track
conditions were not ideal with the temperature somewhat pleasant in the
60's but accompanied by 100% humidity. When the track lights switched on at
dusk you could see the moisture in the air!
Our AMG was equipped with only our Alpha Tune and prototype Alpha Downpipes
and Cat-Back Exhaust. The full Alpha
7 Bi-turbo upgrade will include an Alpha
Boost Cooler Kit in the future but
we were eager to see the results of just a tune and Exhaust. Rolling on 20" Vorsteiner wheels and
Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires we were hopeful for a very low 11 second
run, but ended up with the first E63 4Matic in the 10's!
First pass of the night Paul staged the car, applied the brakes and gave it
a bit of throttle, the launch was undramatic, smooth with no tire spin.
When the board lit up we were a bit surprised, 10.850 @ 129.31 MPH, setting
a new AMG 4Matic record! After letting the car cool down we staged it for
another run, the car launched exactly the same as the first pass, hard with
no drama and lit the board up with a 10.879 @ 129.21 MPH. Talk about
Overall we are very pleased with the results from the night's testing. Once
the M157 Alpha Boost Cooler Kit and
Carbon Fiber Intake System are complete we will bring the car back to the
track for another round of testing and hopefully hit 130+mph trap along
with a mid-low 10 second pass!

Winter Tyres or 4x4: which is best? - Auto Express

Winter tyres are going to be on a lot of minds this year - Britain could
face a particularly harsh winter this year, with snow falling from as early
as November. If you've got a four-wheel drive car, you probably think
you're properly prepared - but are you?
We went up to Tamworth Snowdome to find out if a front-wheel drive car with
winter tyres has more traction in the snow than a 4x4 with summer tyres
fitted. We used two Ford Kugas, both with 2.0-litre diesel engines and
manual gearboxes - but one is front-wheel drive, and the other all-wheel
drive. The 4x4 Ford Kuga costs £1500 more than the normal model.
In snowy conditions the rubber in summer tyres gets harder and less grippy.
Winter tyres use a softer compound, and a tread pattern that's designed to
pick up snow - improving grip in these harsh conditions.
In our first test we saw that the front-wheel drive car on summer tyres was
hopeless in the snow - but when fitted with winter tyres, it obviously did
much better. However we also tested the 4x4 on summer tyres - and the
results might surprise you.
With winter tyres, the normal Kuga went 110 metres up the slope, while the
4x4 car only made it 13 metres up, before sliding back down 9 metres. in
the end, it ended up no further than the standard did with summer tyres.
We also tested the four-wheel drive Ford Kuga with winter tyres - and the
difference was astonishing. There was plenty of grip and the car drove all
the way to the top of the steep ski slope without a problem.
Obviously, the best solution for driving on snow is to have a 4x4 on winter
tyres - without the right rubber, a 4x4 is just as useless as a two wheel
Having four-wheel drive won't help with braking, though - and that's much
101mm TURBO CTS-V - 1200hp Cadillac!!!
This was probably the NUTTIEST car we encountered at the Pikes Peak Air
Strip Attack - this 1170hp 101mm turbo
equipped Cadillac CTS-V was turning heads everywhere it went. Hop into the
passenger seat as we race down the 1/2 mile raceway at over 180 mph!
1500+hp Toyota Van in the build
Bert's wild Toyota Tarago has been in the build for some time. The Van is
now ready to perform a few shakedown passes. Power comes from a twin turbonetics Boosted GM LSX 454ci V8 engine running MoTeC
injection on alcohol fuel.
