Team Falken Chooses the Petit Le Mans as the Ultimate Proving Ground

Team Falken and its Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, along with drivers Bryan Sellers and Dominic Cicero, will return to the ALMS battleground in the highly competitive GT2 class for the demanding 1,000-mile, 10-hour race spectacle known as Petit Le Mans. Falken Tires served notice early last year ago that it intended to capture the dynamism found within ALMS and use it to help build a higher profile of the engineering prowess and strength of the companys performance tires. We are eagerly awaiting the chance to compete again in the ALMS, said Andrew Hoit, Falken Tires Director of Marketing. Petit Le Mans is a very competitive, grueling event, and one we feel is a perfect forum for the return of our team and our product. Team Falken has spent the time between our last race and the upcoming event at Road Atlanta testing, as we are determined to have the right mixture of car, driver and tire compound for Petit Le Mans, added Rod Everett, Team Manager. We want to show that our time away from the series was well spent, particularly as we refined our specially fabricated Falken Azenis RT Slick. Painted in Falkens traditional teal and blue livery, the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will again be sponsored by Cleveland Golf of Huntington Beach, CA, a force on the PGA tour. Both companies pursue similar goals of longevity and durability and the marketing opportunities mesh well. This is an important race for us, said Nick Fousekis, Senior Consumer Marketing Manager, Falken Tire. Its a tough class to compete in, but we are confident we will put forth a very strong effort and help generate more attention on our products. For Team Falken, preparation for both Petit Le Mans and next season has been a full-year commitment, as the team sets its goals on a championship run in 2010.

Falken Tire 2009 GT2 Porsche 911 RSR Testing
http://www.falkentire.com As Falken Tires enters its second year of sports car competition, the tire manufacturer returns to the important and highly regarded American LeMans Series (ALMS) competition where it will once again compete in the series GT2 class. What's different for the ALMS competition 2009 season is this year, Falken is running its own team, based at its corporate headquarters in Fontana, CA. The car is the powerful Porsche 911 RSR. The 3.8-liter boxer engine of the GT3 RSR remains unchanged with the exception of slight improvements in specified areas. The motor delivers 465 hp at 8,000 rpm. Weight of the race car is 2,700 pounds. To ensure its competitiveness, Falken has developed a special Azenis RT Slick tire for this car, which the company will manufacture in Japan. A dedicated engineering and development crew will attend each ALMS competition event to observe and provide appropriate resources. Falken has developed much of its technology from its motorsports efforts throughout the world, including competition in Super Taikyu, at the 24 hours of the legendary Nurburgring - a punishing race - and the highly regarded Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Falken Tire 2009 Calvin Wan S15 Testing
http://www.falkentire.com When first describing Calvin Wan, a principal word could be multitasker. Calvin has already had a long and varied career in motorsports, starting in 1996, and running in such diverse series including drag racing, autocrossing, rally crossing and motorcycles. Calvin also is a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) member and has provided numerous stunt driving assignments for television commercials, print ads and movies (including Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Crank 2: High Voltage). He is a published author, too, having written Calvin Wans Drifting Performance Handbook, which is distributed by Motorbooks International. On the drifting front, the San Francisco native, who, like his neighbor and team mate up the road, Tyler McQuarrie, has spent a fair amount of time at Sonomas Infineon Raceway. He has competed in every round of the Formula Drift Championship series since its augural season in 2004, and has become a fan favorite due to his laid back style and street image.. Falken Tires officials noticed his capabilities during that first season and signed him to what has become a long-term contract, making Calvin a full-time driver for the company, driving Falken-owned works cars ever since. In 2005, Calvin made history by becoming the first driver in the Formula Drift series to win in an import car with the Falken Tire Infiniti G35. He later moved to a Mazda RX-7, and for 2009, will be piloting the new Falken Tire Nissan S15 Silvia, running on Falken Azenis RT-615 rubber. In addition to this series, the multitasker will be doing double duty in the Formula D International Demos and Team Drifting Competition events. The talented driver participates in more than 20 professional events each year and has received extensive media coverage with both national and international media outlets. When hes not driving, hes building race cars or serving as both a Drifting Judge and Instructor, holding special drifting performance clinics for private groups. Drifting and race fans alike know the name Calvin Wan, and he is highly regarded and respected by his competitors. As one of the pioneers in drifting especially in the U.S., and one of the driving forces on Team Falken, Calvin has definitely earned his reputation and stands ready once again to help take Team Falken to the top of the podium. 2009 Formula Drift Round 5 with Falken Tire
falkentire.com Music by Hunt Club: myspace.com/huntclubmusic MONROE, WA Originally built as a horse-racing track, Evergreen Speedway saw plenty of horsepower over the weekend as Formula Drift arrived in town, with the venerable track challenging the drivers and their cars to the Breaking Point, resulting in Chris Forsberg taking the win, while Team Falkens Tyler McQuarrie finished a respectable third. Qualifying on Friday was challenging as the judges were very critical of all efforts. Nevertheless, seven drivers on Falken Azenis RT615 tires made the field, including all Team Falken factory entrants McQuarrie; Vaughn Gittin, Jr.; Darren McNamara; Daijiro Yoshihara; and Calvin Wan, plus privateers Ross Petty (who was in fact the number two qualifier) and Taka Aono. Amid tough competition all day long, two Falken drivers advanced to the Top 8 Round, as both McQuarrie and Gittin defeated their opponents to move to the Top 4. Unfortunately, Gittin was involved in a collision during this run and was unable to advance, while teammate McQuarrie lost to eventual winner Forsberg. In the battle for third overall, it was Team Falken v. Team Falken, as McQuarrie came out on top over Gittin, who was able to compete despite his accident in the previous round. The events trademark nickname, Breaking Point, lived up to its reputation as a number of entrants became casualties to the tracks banking and tight transitions throughout the course. However, McQuarries strong third place finish moved him to third overall in the Formula D Championship, while Team Falken teammate Vaughn Gittin, Jr., despite a semi-final performance, dropped to fifth, and Darren McNamara remained in sixth. August is Formula Ds busiest month, with a second event, Round 6, just two weeks away in the wine country of Northern California at famous Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, August 21-22. Team Falken will be locked and loaded when that event arrives.

Falken Wildpeak AT tire review
Review Of Falken Wildpeak AT tires at about 3000 miles. Size 245/17/65 so far very happy with tires I miss spoke in the video, noise starts at 40 mph and stop at around 55mph. I am hoping this maybe a balancing issue and it will go away next tire rotation and balancing. I will let you know. Over all I like the tires , they are smooth on the road and quit for the most part. They are wearing pretty evenly so far. Honda is not known for the sound damping ability read any review and you will see. Provided the world does not end in the next few years we will up size to a sequoia for our vacation SUV !!! I would say lost about a mile per gallon after getting these tire on.
