April 5, 2012 , New York - Ram 1500 -- the most recognizable pickup on the road -- delivers best-in-class fuel economy with a truckload of pioneering, fuel-saving systems including a more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine and first-in-segment technologies: eight-speed automatic transmission, stop-start system, thermal management system, pulse-width modulation and active aerodynamics, including grille shutters and air suspension.

"We changed every area of the truck -- from a newly designed frame with air suspension, to a new eight-speed transmission to a new interior with the next-generation Uconnect® system.
"With best-in-class towing and payload, best-in-class ride and handling and best-in-class aerodynamics, the 2013 Ram 1500 delivers unmatched content, performance and capability to our customers," Diaz added.
New 2013 Ram Heavy Duty Reveal
Ram has unveiled their new 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups at the Texas State Fair.
Looking large and in charge, the models feature a new grille, revised headlights and restyled wheels.
The cabin has revised switchgear, updated upholstery and a new center stack with a 115-volt outlet. Notable options include a Uconnect Touch infotainment system, WiFi connectivity and a 10-speaker Alpine audio system.
Under the hood, two different engines are available. The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 produces 383 bhp (286 kW) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque, while the 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six has outputs of:
350 bhp (261 kW) and 660 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque
370 bhp (276 kW) and 800 lb-ft (1,084 Nm) of torque
385 bhp (287 kW) and 850 lb-ft (1,152 Nm) of torque
Both models ride on a new high-strength steel frame that has hydroformed main rails and eight separate cross-members. Thanks to the beefy construction, the Ram HDs have best-in-class towing and payload capabilities.
Diesel variants also gain a capless fuel filler system, an improved cooling system and an Active Air intake which adjusts where the air is drawn from (either under the hood or outside the vehicle, depending on conditions).
The 2013 Ram Heavy Duty pickups will go into production early next year and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
