Il raduno è nato dalla passione di un gruppo di amici modenesi che hanno dato vita al club delle Mini in città. Lancia Delta S4 Stradale #1
Lo staff Lancia-Abarth condotto dall'ingegner Lombardi diede vita alla Delta S4 (S= Sovralimentata"; 4= quattro ruote motrici), che doveva essere l'arma vincente assoluta nelle competizioni rally internazionali del Gruppo B. Quest'auto fu l'unica Delta mai prodotta per le competizioni a non avere in pratica nulla da spartire col modello di serie: per questo fu necessario produrre e mettere in vendita al pubblico 200 esemplari di questo mostro, obbligatori da regolamento per l'omologazione della vettura da gara. Il motore di questa vettura era soltanto di 1759 cc, ma riusciva a raggiungere una potenza, senza problemi di affidabilità, di ben 480 CV. Il basamento del motore (posto centralmente), e la testata, erano entrambi in lega leggera, inoltre le canne dei cilindri erano rivestite superficialmente con un raffinato e tecnologico trattamento a base di materiale ceramico. Le valvole erano 4 per cilindro. Vi era un sistema di doppia sovralimentazione: turbina KKK più compressore volumetrico (volumex, brevettato dalla Abarth): il vantaggio del volumex era di "spingere" già a 2000 giri/min. La potenza pura veniva invece dal turbocompressore KKK a gas di scarico. L'unione dei due sistemi permise elasticità e potenza. I due sistemi di sovralimentazione vennero accoppiati escludendo il Volumex agli alti regimi di rotazione dove funzionava solo il turbocompressore. La Delta S4 in versione stradale aveva 250 CV, mentre la versione da gara al debutto ne aveva poco meno di 500. A fine stagione 1986 sembra ne avesse circa 600 (ufficialmente 550). The team led by engineer Lancia-Abarth Lombardi gave birth to the Delta S4 (S = Supercharged "4 = four-wheel drive), which was to be the absolute weapon in winning international competitions, rallies Group B. The two systems were coupled Boost Volumex excluding the high speeds where it worked just the turbocharger. Delta S4 Street version had 250 hp, while the racing version to debut had just under 500. At the end of 1986 season he looked about 600 (formally 550).

la Delta S4 debuttò nel 1985 nel mondiale rally all'ultima gara, il Rac (Regno Unito) dove vinse con Toivonen e Cresto; l'anno successivo iniziò subito con la vittoria a Montecarlo ma tanta felicità fu ben presto interrotta, alla 2° gara in Corsica si verificò un terribile incidente e perirono proprio Toivonen e Cresto; sempre in tale periodo rimase ferito Vatanen a bordo della sua Peugeot 205 T16. Vista la pericolosità di questi mostri a quattro ruote, la federazione decise di bandire le "Gruppo B". La Delta S4 venne prodotta in 200 esemplari necessari per l'omologazione in "Gruppo B". La versione stradale vantava 250 cv e 225km/h. La caratteristica che ha reso famosa tale vettura è la doppia sovralimentazione: turbocompressore e compressore volumetrico. Questo tipo di impianto è nato per poter soddisfare una caratteristica particolare che in un'auto da rally potrebbe fare (e ha fatto) la differenza: avere un ottimo tiro da sfruttare nei rettilinei ma allo stesso tempo una "bestiale" coppia motrice ai bassissimi regimi per tirare la macchina fuori dai tornanti in salita. Ciò potrebbe apparire impossibile per il fatto che, per avere alte potenze servono grosse turbine afflitte da pesanti ritardi di inserimento e da difficile trattabilità mentre, per avere una corposa coppia ai bassi regimi occorre un compressore volumetrico capace di "gonfiare" il motore già da regimi ultrabassi ma contraddistinto da una scarsa efficacia ai regimi più alti (in una macchina da corsa non è un inconveniente da poco). Come diavolo avranno fatto? Semplice, utilizzando entrambi i sistemi!

Relaunched in 2001 under the stewardship of the BMW Group, the MINI brand has become one of the most popular in the automotive world and a true British export success story with drivers in more than 110 markets falling in love with the famous marque from USA to Uruguay and Turkey to Taiwan. In the intervening 13 years, the MINI range has grown from one to seven models, meaning that the brand can now offer a car to cater for all tastes and requirements. The three millionth MINI to be produced is a 5-door Hatch Cooper S and has a special exterior design to celebrate its heritage and its British roots. A £750 million investment is underway across three of BMW Group’s UK manufacturing facilities. Highlights include a new 1,000-robot bodyshop at Plant Oxford and the installation of new body manufacturing technologies including laser welding at Plant Swindon. The Hams Hall engine plant is also being freshly equipped for a new generation of modular power units that will be manufactured at the company’s three global engine plants, with the Hams Hall plant supplying crankshafts to all these factories. These new engines, the new body and chassis structure and a completely refreshed design are combined in the all-new MINI.
