Polaris Sportsman 570 vs. Can-Am Outlander L 500, 2015 King of Value 4x4 ATV Shootout
The Can-Am Outlander L 500 was clearly a contender for the Sportsman
570’s crown as a price-point leader. Its arrival sets up a shootout that
should result in more units sold than any other this year, the 2015 King of
Value 4x4 ATV Shootout.
Our shootout took place at Haspin Acres Off-Road Park in Laurel, Indiana.
Haspin’s 750 acres feature trails ranging from wide open and fast to
technical and rocky; there is even a sand section with a little short
course we used for lap times. Over four days of testing we encountered dry
dirt, slick muddy trails, and virgin snow.
To determine which machine is king, our riders evaluated and rated them on
many aspects of performance using a 10-point scoring system. Each machine
can earn up to 10 points based on rider ratings. They can each earn up to
two bonus points by winning four bonus challenges worth a half point each.
Those special challenges include Initial Value, 1/8 Mile Drag, Woods
Moto,and Best Utility.

Vintage Polaris 1975 TX 440 - Finally Running - Walk Around Video
We went through a pile of snowmobiles and I found this! First thing was to
dig it out.... next was to get it running! Well, here we go! I dont know
the last time it fired up but its running and im going for a little tour
before this winter comes to an end. Check back later for the cruise videos!
Walkaround of a Vintage Polaris 340 SS Colt
The greatest most realiable beater sled a man could ever own!
I bought this sled about 5 yrs ago as a restoration project. It didn't
run, bad track, etc. So I pulled suspension, installed a good used cleated
track, new drive shaft bearings, & greased all suspension components.
Cleaned entire fuel system from tank to carbs. Installed one used coil (no
spark on one side), painted the muffler.
Ski's were shot, so I found a used pair of chromies. The bottoms were
rusted, so I sanded and painted the bottoms with ski skins and new
carbides. New spindle bushings and fixed broken wiring to the one
Found a used chaincase (original one was cracked), and put on a different
year juice brake reservoir/handle (original one was froze up), & cleaned up
the clutch faces as best I could and installed a used drive belt.
This sled sits outside. The only winterizing it ever gets is to drain tank
and run carbs dry. It starts up and runs great EVERY winter!
Does about 50-55 on hardpack. The Colts were F/C, the SS Colts were F/A
with points, the TX's were F/A CDI! Some call the SS's the baby brothers
to the TX line. With some tuning, these little F/A engines would make
great vintage dragsters!
So, bottom line...I decided not to restore it. (Probably spent more on the
6" carbide runners and ski skins than the sled is worth!!) It is the
'beater' of my collection and is the one I let all 'first time riders' take
out for a spin!
