From Inside the NASCAR Garage - Kyle Busch Wins the Auto Club 400
Camry driver Kyle Busch won his second consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at California's Auto Club Speedway -- located in Toyota's backyard. Busch also won the 2013 race. The scheduled 400 mile race saw the final caution flag when Camry driver Clint Bowyer experienced a vibration issue with less than five laps to go. The leaders came down pit road for tires and Busch restarted in fifth as the field came to a green-white-checkered flag finish. He wasted no time and quickly made his move, rocketing to the front and held the lead for the final lap. "I think the fans won today," said Busch, after the race. "Holy cow, what do you expect when you get a green-white-checkered finish and everybody has to come down pit road for tires. That right there is a 'Days of Thunder' thing right there. There were two laps to go and everybody is going to pit. Unbelievable day. I can't say enough about Interstate Batteries, M&M's and Toyota of course -- awesome today to be here again in their home town. And of course Sprint, appreciate them helping us with this sport." The win also could solidify Busch a spot in this year's Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. Drivers with wins in the first 26 races before the Chase could earn one of 16 spots in this year's championship playoff. The driver of the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 Camry won the 18th Cup race at the southern California race track. "What an awesome race this track produced," continued Busch. "I just can't believe it. I thank the Lord for putting ourselves here and getting us locked in the Chase."
