FASTEST 1/4 mile DOOR CAR ON THE PLANET! 5.46@272mph
The Q80 Camaro smashes
the WORLD RECORD ET and MPH during the Street Car Super Nationals event at
Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis August 2014. The car is driven by
Turky Al Zafiri and is powered by a Twin turbo Pro Line Racing Engine with tuning by Jose
Gonzales and turbo legend Steve Petty.
It was an epic weekend with the World Record going back and forth between
Q80 and Frankie Taylor but in the end the Q80 Team leaves with the record
with a 5.46@272 to Taylor's 5.47@263 in the quickest and fastest side by
side pass in Doorslammer History!

Plymouth 'Cuda 440 V8 Burnout at the Drag Strip
I went at the drag strip at the Rivanazzano Dragway during an event called

Santa Pod dragstrip is the venue in which the current world drag racing
record, a time of 3.58 seconds at 386.26 mph (621.61 km/h) was set by Sammy
Miller in his Vanishing Point funny car in July 1984
The car is powered by a fuel called hydrogen peroxide which is stored in
the large tank at the front of the car.
To pump the fuel to the rocket the tank is pressurised by two tanks of air
- one either side of the car.
Both tanks are connected together with a pair of pipes and fed into a
The regulator keeps the pressure inside the fuel tank at a constant
pressure (between 300-700 psi depending on the thrust required).
There is also a safety valve which will open if anything should over
The fuel is then fed to the throttle valve at the back of the car, this
controls the flow of fuel.
The fuel is then fed into the rocket engine
Inside the engine, the fuel is sprayed onto a silver mesh, a reaction takes
place and the fuel breaks down giving off heat and water.
This produces a blast of high pressure steam & oxygen.
The engine produces about 14,000 lbs of thrust and sends the car forward at
a very high speed.
In 1977 in the Mojave Desert, Kitty O'Neil piloted a hydrogen peroxide
powered rocket dragster built by Ky Michaelson to the quickest quarter mile
elapsed time in auto history, with a timed run of 3.22 seconds at 396 mph
(637 km/h) with an average speed of 279.5 mph (449.8 km/h). This was in
the desert not on a track.
