TechTalk with Chad Hembree. We took a trip the National Corvette Museum to cover the C5/C6 bash and the 2012 Centennial Edition Corvette. This is an excerpt from Episode 230 featuring the trip. Be sure to watch the bloopers after the credits. The wind was terrible that day and we did not have sufficient windscreens. Please overlook the sound issues as we will be more prepared in the future. http://www.chadhembree.com
The Shamrock Shoot - Behind The Scenes
In early November of 2011, our crew trailered a '54 black Corvette and a
ZR1 Corvette to the Texas panhandle town of Shamrock. The city and a
art deco former service station from the 1930s are located on what was once
Route 66, which stretched from Chicago to Los Angeles.
We took the cars there to shoot two entries for the Chevy Super Bowl
Commercial contest. Both
spots are whimsical, off-the-beaten path, and fun in style. Though we
didn't make it to the finals, we
worked hard, but also had a good time shooting and producing the spots.
This video is a
behind-the-scenes 'making of' look at how they both came together....

2012 Corvette ZR1 Takes on Nurburgring
New 2012 models eclipse previous-best lap times at Germany's famed testing
Corvette returned to the world's most-demanding testing ground -- Germany's
famed Nurburgring -- and recorded lap times that rank among the fastest
recorded for a production car.
As detailed on video, the 2012 Corvette ZR1 recorded a lap time of 7:19.63,
more than six seconds faster than
the previous Corvette-best recorded in 2008. A lap video featuring the
Corvette Z06 will be released soon.
"Testing at the Nurburgring is one of the important methods we have to
validate our car in the toughest track conditions." says Tadge Juechter,
Corvette vehicle line director and chief engineer.
Measuring 12.9 miles (20.8 km) and including some 154 turns, the
Nurburgring's Nordschleife ("north loop") is widely considered the world's
most-demanding course. As was the case at Corvette's last test in 2008, the
car was driven by Corvette engineer Jim Mero and was a full production
model with no performance modifications. This test was to validate the
car's added performance technology coming to production later this summer
for the 2012 model year.
Corvette's improved performance for 2012 begins with the new, optional
Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires, which are available on
the two highest-performing models, the lightweight, 505-hp (377 kW) Z06 and
the maximum-performance, 638-hp (476 kW) supercharged ZR1. They are
competition-oriented tires, optimized for warm, dry conditions to increase
cornering and handling capability.
When combined with the Corvette's exclusive Performance Traction Management
(PTM) technology -- which manages torque delivery for maximum performance
-- the tires set new benchmarks for Corvette performance. Engineers
estimate an 8-percent gain in maximum lateral acceleration, to more than
1.1g, and improved braking distance.
Corvette C6 Z06 Stage 2 with 620HP!! 1080p HD
This time I recorded an amazing tuned Corvette Z06 with 620bhp during Gran
Turismo Spa events on circuit Spa Francorchamps. Almost everyting in the
engine is changed to producing more power in it, like racing brake discs
and pads, a full line Exhaust pipe,
APR Perfomance wing and many many more.
You can see it's very hard to handle on a wet track with so many horsepower! Nice to see how
easily the Ferrari 458 Italia cath up the Z06 on the track!

2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition Test Drive & Sports Car Review
http://www.autobytel.com/chevrolet/corvette/2012/?id=32972 100 years ago
Chevrolet was created. And to celebrate this centennial anniversary; Chevy
has released a Special Edition Vehicle to commemorate this milestone. The
2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition is one mean looking sports
car that is sure to become a collector's item. The Corvette Z06 has a base
price of $75,600 and the Centennial Special Edition Package adds $4950 to
that total. The vehicle tested here also benefits from the Z06 Ultimate
Performance Package which adds another $7500 onto the base price.
The Corvette Centennial Special Edition features a cool appearance package
along with special edition wheels and a Magnetic Selective Ride Control
suspension. The first thing you notice on the exterior of the Corvette
Centennial is the sexy Carbon Flash Metallic paint job. The Satin Black
rims come with a great red accent stripe and are sized 19-inches up front
and 20-inches in the rear. The tires are high-performance Michelin PS CUP
Z-Rated tires. These bad boys measure 335/25ZR20 in the rear which provides
a huge contact patch. The Magnetic Selective Ride Control Suspension comes
equipped with a set of shocks that are filled with a magnetically active
fluid that changes in viscosity to provide a firm or softer ride depending
on the driving situation. Another great addition to the 2012 Chevy Corvette
Centennial Z06 Special Edition is the massive Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes
that come with Special Edition pained Calipers.
The 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial is powered by a huge 7.0 liter
(427 cubic inch) V-8 engine that produces 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of
torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through an awesome 6-speed
manual transmission. Fuel economy is not bad considering the power. The
Corvette Z06 manages 15 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway. The Z06
engine is at home on the track and with the upgraded Centennial Package, a
high-performance cooling system is added. The Corvette Z06 also has a top
speed of 198 MPH.
On the inside the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial is both sporty yet
comfortable. The seats are very supportive and feature nice suede inserts.
Both the shift knob and the steering wheel are covered in suede. The
Corvette is known for having one of the most futuristic heads-up display
found on any vehicle. This driver focused unit displays vehicle speed,
RPM's, lateral G-Force, and the engine oil temperature. There is a Bose
sound system, Bluetooth, and Satellite Radio offered on the Corvette Z06.

Corvette ZR1 Tracktest: V8-Power mit Hammer-Sound
V8-Kompressor, 647 PS, 819 Nm: Diese Bärenkräfte sollten locker reichen,
