WARNING: Before you buy a Dodge Intrepid 2.7L.........
1998-2004 Dodge Intrepid/Chrysler Concorde owners are mostly morons and/or idiots that know nothing about the car they own, and usually about nothing in cars in general. When something goes wrong with their Intrepid, they hop on the 2.7L hate bandwagon or spew to everyone that Intrepids are the worst cars ever made. Dodge Intrepid owners, STOP BITCHING that your 2.7L blew up, its because your dumb ass didn't get online and do research on when maintenance needs to be done on your Intrepid, YOU ARE TO BLAME, not Chrysler, or your Intrepid. The only thing that is known to happen with the 2.7L V6 that cannot be prevented is a blown head gasket, this has happened to a small number of these and is mostly seen in the 98-01 model year. 02-04 2.7L V6's are the most reliable of the bunch.
Bitching about the timing chains on your 2.7L V6 rattling??? Stop bitching and get the tensioners replaced, its routine maintenance on your average car, most cars have timing belts that need replaced every 60k and you bitch that your Intrepid with probably 150k on it needs timing chain tensioners. Bitching that your 2.7L is knocking? THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND GOTTEN THE WATER PUMP REPLACED EVERY 60K-80K MILES. Bitching that your 2.7L blew up due to oil sludge? THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE USED THE RECOMMENDED SYNTHETIC OIL OR SYNTHETIC BLEND AND CHANGED YOUR OIL ON TIME EVERY TIME.
Intrepids are very tedious and sensitive to on-time maintenance. This does not make them a piece of shit. There is endless proof on Intrepid forums that these cars are very capable of pushing 300k miles when in the hands of a caring owner. The main reason for most vehicles breaking down to begin with is due to neglect and abuse. Most cars can handle neglect and abuse much better than Intrepids. Well maintained 1 and 2 owner vehicles with 100's of thousands of miles are proof that maintenance is ALWAYS the key.
