► NEW 2012 Chevrolet Aveo Sedan
The Aveo 4-door Sedan joins it's cousin the hot hatch 5 door in the Chevrolet lineup. Welburn discusses in detail the "personality" behind the Aveo design, and the inspiration for its appearance inside and out. As more people around the globe are looking at small cars, it's important for them to know that small doesn't have to be boring, and this car has a spacious, up-market interior.

2012 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback
A show car version of the new Cruze hatchback will be Chevrolet's star attraction at this year's edition of the Paris motorshow, which kicks off on September 30. Even though GM uses the term 'show car', the five-door hatchback version of the Cruze is virtually production ready minus some show-floor bling such as the blue hue on the headlamps, big wheels and the LED daytime running lights. While keeping the front end and taut body lines of the sedan model, the refreshingly stylish hatch comes with a sweeping coupe-like roofline and a unique rear end treatment. GM has not yet issued any photos of the cabin, but don't expect any changes over the four-door saloon. According to the automaker, cargo capacity for the Cruze hatchback is close to 400 liters and will feature 60/40 split rear seating. The available engine range will most likely be identical to the sedan that is currently offered in Europe with two petrol engines, a 113HP 1.6-liter and a 141HP 1.8-liter, plus a 123HP 2.0-liter turbo diesel. The new Cruze 5-door hatchback will go on sale across Europe mid 2011 with prices announced nearer the launch date. More markets will get the car shortly after, though GM has not said if North America will be one of them. Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe, beleives the addition of a hatchback version to the range will further bolster the car's sales. "Hatchbacks play a critical role in many markets," said Brannon. "The total compact segment in Europe represents around 4.8 million units which is over a quarter of the total market, with hatchbacks representing around 65% of that volume. We therefore expect to see increased business in a number of regions, while sending out a signal that Chevrolet is now a serious mainstream player in Europe." The Cruze hatch is one of four world Chevrolet premieres at the Paris show and will join the new Orlando MPV, Captiva SUV facelift and the new Aveo.

Detroit 2011: 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback and Sedan World Premier Review
For full review, visit: http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2011/01/detroit-2011-2012-chevrolet-soni c-hatchback-and-sedan-world-premiere.html Originally launched at the Paris Auto Show as the new Chevrolet Aveo, General Motors is rebranding the car as the Sonic. With the Aveo name hardly revered in the industry it's more than just a smart marketing move, giving an all-new name to an all-new car.

The new 2012 Chevrolet Sonic (Hatchback and Sedan)
Comes with hatchback and sedan. The Chevrolet Aveo is known as one of the least-expensive and least-liked subcompact cars you can buy. Now that Chevrolet has announced the Aveo's replacement, the little econobox will just become a bad memory. Meet the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. "The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is the small car GM has been saying it will build for decades," says Inside Line. "This time, however, the Sonic has been given a stylish look along with a generous helping of the company's latest technology. Penalty box? No, just a smaller version of the company's best sedans. At least that's how Chevrolet is pitching it." Still riding the wave of praise for the Chevrolet Cruze, an affordable small car that reviewers like for its upscale feel and comfortable cabin, Chevy is banking on the Sonic to extend the goodwill into the company's newest super-small car offering. AutoWeek reports, "The Sonic will come in two variants: a sedan that resembles a slimmed-down Cruze and a diminutive hatch. Two Ecotec engines will be available, including a 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbo pushing out 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque that can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The standard engine will be a 1.8-liter four-cylinder making 135 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque; it will be offered with a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox." Autoblog says that, with the Sonic, "it's clear that The General had its sights locked on the Fiesta from the get go. The Sonic hatchback packs more back seat room than its Blue Oval competitor and, with the rear bench folded flat, delivers more cargo room, as well." While the press hasn't gotten a full look at the sonic, which debuts later today at the Detroit auto show, the early reviewers are positive. "Chevy has built a subcompact car that's appealing for reasons other than price or gas mileage," says Kicking Tires. With the Ford Fiesta already tearing up the affordable small car rankings, and an all-new 2012 Honda Civic set to bow later this year, the Sonic could have its work cut out for it. But, all the competition is only good news for small car shoppers, who suddenly have plenty of strong options to chose from. In the market for a new car? 2011 Chevrolet Sonic Z Spec Concept
General Motors seems intent on banishing all memories of the unloved Aveo -- so much so that it's gone and renamed its entry-level fighter in the States. While we're still not 100-percent in love with the name (we can't get visions of spiky-haired hedgehogs out of our heads...), all three flavors of the Sonic do appear to be vastly improved over the machine they replace, though one of them, the Z Spec, is still in the concept stage. More than anything else, they look vastly better both inside and out, but until we get a stint behind the wheel we'll hold off final judgment. According to Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, "The all-new Chevrolet Sonic blends the practicality of a small car with the passion for driving that Chevrolet vehicles like the Corvette are known for." That won't be the only time you'll ever hear someone mention the Sonic in the same sentence as the Corvette. In fact, Chevy tells us that Corvette engineers are responsible for the ride and handling of the sub-compact. The Sonic will be available in both sedan and hatchback bodystyles and with either a 1.8-liter four-cylinder mated to a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic, or a 1.4-liter turbocharged mill with 138 horsepower that's hooked to either an automatic or manual with six forward ratios. For those keeping track, these are the same engines available in the slightly larger Cruze. You'll also get a gauge cluster inspired by motorcycles, OnStar connectivity, 10 airbags and plenty more Song name: Black and Yellow instrumental
