Daredevil Driving Stunts in a 1936 Plymouth: "Trial by Torture" 1935 Chrysler Corporation
more at http://cars.quickfound.net/ Toughness of the 1936 Plymouth is demonstrated by showing how components, structures, and the entire vehicle are "torture tested." Includes several good shots of deliberately rolling cars, and daredevil driving by "Hell Drivers' such as Lucky Teter and Jimmy Lynch. Public domain film from the Prelinger Archive, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_(automobile) Plymouth was a marque of automobiles based in the United States, produced by the Chrysler Corporation and its successor DaimlerChrysler. Production was discontinued on June 29, 2001 in the United States. The Plymouth automobile was introduced on July 7, 1928. It was Chrysler Corporation's first entry in the low-priced field, which at the time was already dominated by Chevrolet and Ford. Plymouths were actually priced slightly higher than their competition, but offered all standard features such as internal expanding hydraulic brakes that the competition did not provide. Plymouths were originally sold exclusively through Chrysler dealerships. The logo featured a rear view of the ship Mayflower which landed at Plymouth Rock. However, the Plymouth brand name came from Plymouth Binder Twine, chosen by Joe Frazer for its popularity among farmers... The origins of Plymouth can be traced back to the Maxwell automobile. When Walter P. Chrysler took over control of the troubled Maxwell-Chalmers car company in the early 1920s, he inherited the Maxwell as part of the package. After he used the company's facilities to help create and launch the Chrysler car in 1924, he decided to create a lower-priced companion car. So for 1926 the Maxwell was reworked and re-badged as the low-end Chrysler "52" model. In 1928, the "52" was once again redesigned to create the Chrysler-Plymouth Model Q. The "Chrysler" portion of the nameplate was dropped with the introduction of the Plymouth Model U in 1929. Great Depression, 1940s and 1950s While the original purpose of the Plymouth was to serve a lower-end marketing niche, during the Great Depression of the 1930s, the marque helped significantly in ensuring the survival of the Chrysler Corporation in a decade when many other car companies failed. Beginning in 1930, Plymouths were sold by all three Chrysler divisions (Chrysler, DeSoto, and Dodge). Plymouth sales were a bright spot during this dismal automotive period, and by 1931 Plymouth rose to the number three spot among all cars. In 1931 with the Model PA, the company introduced floating power and boasted, "The economy of a four; the smoothness of a six." In 1933 Chrysler decided to catch up with Ford and Chevrolet with respect to engine cylinder count. The 190 cu in version of Chrysler's flathead-6 engine was equipped with a downdraft carburetor and installed in the new 1933 Plymouth PC, introduced on 17 November 1932. However, Chrysler had reduced the PC's wheelbase from 112 in (284.5 cm) to 107 in (271.8 cm), and the car sold poorly. By April 1933, the Dodge division's Model DP chassis, with a 112 in (284.5 cm) wheelbase, was put under the PC body with DP front fenders, hood, and radiator shell. The model designation was advanced to PD and the car was marketed as the "DeLuxe" 1933 Plymouth. This car sold very well and is the 1933 model most commonly found in collections. The PC became the 'Standard Six'. It had been the 'Plymouth Six' at introduction, and was sold through to the end of 1933, but in much lower numbers. It is consequently in the minority in collectors' hands today. In 1937, Plymouth (along with the other Chrysler makes) added safety features such as flat dash boards with recessed controls and the back of the front seat padded for the rear seat occupants. The PC was shipped overseas to Sweden, Denmark, and the UK, as well as Australia. In the UK it was sold as a 'Chrysler Kew', Kew Gardens being the location of the Chrysler factory outside London. The flathead 6 which started with the 1933 Model PC stayed in the Plymouth until the 1959 models. In 1939 Plymouth produced 417,528 vehicles, of which 5,967 were two-door convertible coupes with rumble seats. The 1939 convertible coupe was prominently featured at Chrysler's exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair, advertised as the first mass-production convertible with a power folding top. It featured a 201 cu in, 82 hp version of the flathead six engine. For much of its life, Plymouth was one of the top-selling American automobile brands; it together with Chevrolet and Ford were commonly referred to as the "low-priced three" marques in the American market...

1959 Plymouth Sport Fury - Test Drive & Review
Since I am into more things than just RC I thought this might be a great way to expand the channel a little. I have been wanting to do a review and drive of a long time member of the family. This is the old man's 1959 Plymouth he has had.. well basically since 1959. I hope you enjoy seeing this "old bomb" as he calls it. Vehicle Highlights: Fury V-800 Super-Pak V8; 318ci - 260hp / 345tq. For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/bn6xgd2 The product of a high dollar, multi-year build, this incredible Mopar pro-tourer wraps a 500 horsepower 3G Hemi and a completely custom suspension in a custom leather interior and killer custom-mixed paint. Completed in early 2012, this super clean curve carver is the direct result of what happens when a seasoned fabricator has an uncompromised vision, major dedication and access to a six-figure bank account. See, the car's creator already owned a killer Charger that was buff enough to pull down sub 10-second passes on an NHRA-sanctioned drag strip, so he wanted to build a second car that was a bit milder and quite different. Enter this neon Plymouth, a project which quickly escalated from the restoration of a fun cruiser into the creation of an outrageous driver's car. Hoist this Plymouth's bright fiberglass hood and you'll find 6.1 liters of naturally aspirated 3G Hemi bliss. Straight from the factory that popular SRT8 powerplant produces an impressive 425 horsepower and 420 lb./ft. of torque. And with the help of a custom tune by the folks at Bouchillon Performance Engineering in Hanahan, South Carolina, its performance transforms from wild to flat out wicked! Measuring in at roughly 372 cubic inches, the big mill uses a revised block, forged internals, lighter pistons and a cast aluminum intake to crank out a whopping 500 horsepower and 460 lb./ft. of torque. And best of all, that's 500 horsepower that'll fire up in any weather, last thousands of maintenance-free miles, and probably lay waste to any old school muscle car that's brave enough to stage a challenge! Behind the neo Hemi, a Hughes Performance A727 Torqueflite produces great bite and hard launches. Out back, there's a fresh Moser Sure Grip rear end that's equipped with moderate, pavement pounding gears. At the front of the car, custom-mounted rack and pinion steering provides smooth turns and quick reflexes. That rack is held off the ground by a first class double A-arm suspension that's a product of Magnumforce upper control arms, two inch drip spindles, fresh Aldan coil overs and modified Mancini lower control arms. Holding the car's rear end off the ground is a Reilly Motorsports triangulated four link set up that's equipped with new QA-1 coil over shocks. And at the corners of the chassis, custom Boze Alloy wheels spin 235/55R18 front and 305/45R20 rear Yokohama Advan STs around graphite gray spokes, satin-finished lips and yellow-trimmed center caps. Open this B-Body's solid closing doors and take in its custom black interior that, as an astute combination of serious hardware and modern aesthetics, is the perfect place to spend jaunts like Hot Rod's famed Power Tour. The first thing you'll notice is a pair of GS-1 touring buckets, fitted with high quality RCI harnesses, that are so supportive they'll have no problem living life 100 miles at a time. Between those seats, a custom console anchors a B&M Pro Bandit shifter between two cup holders and a remote controlled Sony CD player. At the front of that console, a clean Just Dashes dash features snazzy white-faced gauges and a modern pushbutton ignition switch. And in front of the driver, a three-spoke Momo steering wheel spins a thick black rim around a shaved steering column. Brutally fast and visually stunning, this awesome Plymouth perfectly embodies the tried and true philosophy of pushing the envelope as far as the arc will go. Driver Education: "Driving Tips" (Series Two) circa 1958 Sid Davis Productions; 1959 Plymouth Fury
more at http://auto-parts.quickfound.net/ "Warnings of drinking and driving, speeding, approaching a stopped school bus, the dangers of signal jumping "usually jumping into trouble", driving too slowly, drowsiness, driving on street car tracks, getting stuck in sand or mud." Public domain film from the Prelinger Archive, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driver_education Driver's education or driver's ed is a formal class or program that prepares a new driver to obtain a learner's permit or driver's license. It may take place in a classroom, in a vehicle, online, or a combination of the above. Topics of instruction include traffic code or laws and vehicle operation. Typically, instruction will warn of dangerous conditions in driving such as road conditions, driver impairments, and hazardous weather. Instructional videos may also be shown, demonstrating proper driving strategies and the consequences for not observing the rules. The term driver's ed is one that is typically used in the United States, and other countries often have other terms for a driving test or examination... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_driving The standard Safe Practices for Motor Vehicle Operations, ANSI/ASSE Z15.1, defines defensive driving as "driving to save lives, time, and money, in spite of the conditions around you and the actions of others." This definition is taken from the National Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course. It is a form of training for motor vehicle drivers that goes beyond mastery of the rules of the road and the basic mechanics of driving. Its aim is to reduce the risk of collision by anticipating dangerous situations, despite adverse conditions or the mistakes of others. This can be achieved through adherence to a variety of general rules, as well as the practice of specific driving techniques... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Fury The Plymouth Fury is model of automobile which was produced by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1956 to 1978. The Fury was introduced as a premium-priced model designed to showcase the line, with the intent to draw consumers into showrooms. The word "fury" denotes a type of anger, inspired by the Furies, mythological creatures in Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman mythology... The Fury was a sub-series of the Plymouth Belvedere from 1956 through 1958. It was sold only as an off-white 2-door hardtop coupé with gold anodized aluminum trim in 1956, 1957, and 1958. The Fury had a special interior, bumper wing-guards and a V8 engine with twin 4-barrel carburetors. The 1957 and 1958, the 318 cu in (5.21 L) engine produced 290 hp (220 kW). In 1958, the optional engine was a 350 cu in (5.7 L) called Golden Commando with 2 × 4-bbl producing 305 hp (227 kW). A rare 315-hp option with fuel injection was available but the electronic Bendix fuel-injection system was recalled by the factory (owners were given a conventional dual four-barrel setup). The Golden Commando engine was optional on any Plymouth Plaza, Savoy, Belvedere, Suburban and Fury as was the dual four-barrel 318 (dubbed V-800 Dual Fury; four- and two-barrel 318s also arrived for 1958 and were simply called V-800). In 1959, the 350 was dropped and a bored-out, 361 cu in (5.92 L) version of the Golden Commando was available in different setups starting with a single 2-barrel carburetor. The dual four-barrel version of the 318 also was dropped that year, though the four-barrel intake remained available on this engine through the 1962 model year. In 1959, Plymouth introduced the Sport Fury as its top model, and the Fury as its second from the top model to replace the Plymouth Belvedere at the top of the regular Plymouth line-up. In doing so, the Fury range now contained sedans and station wagons as well as a hardtop coupe and sedan, while the Sport Fury series had only a 2-door hardtop and convertible. The Sport Fury was dropped at the end of 1959, but was reintroduced in mid-1962...

1973 PLYMOUTH ROAD RUNNER -- A DIFFERENT PLYMOUTH SATELLITE
Plymouth Road Runners, while a muscle car, was within the Plymouth Satellite model, an intermediate size car. The Satellite could have a V8 318 where the Road Runner, designated as a muscle car, had a V8 340 cid with 240 horses. Differences between the two are significant The Road Runner had the hood scoops, the racing stripes, the rally wheels, rally steering wheel, console with a T-handle shifter, and appropriate muscle car interior. There was the price difference too between a Satellite coupe - $2,755 and the Road Runner -- $3,115. So there you could have a choice between a Plymouth personal luxury car, the Satelite, or you could chose the Road Runner muscle car. Both models shared the same body shell but there was that significant difference. Thanks very much for viewing this 1973 Plymouth Road Runner.
