3rd Gen Camaro Build
A (lotta) work in progress. I started this project to swap a 191cubic inch V6 to a 350 V8 (along with performance parts, and swapping & upgrading the transmission) in 2009. (see modifications list below.) These are pictures and videos as I progressed and the very first engine start and test drive. I applied primer to protect the metal as I knew I would have to put the project on hold, which is where it has been since. Plan to start again by gutting & redoing the interior here in 2012. --------------- 350 block swap moddified Vortec heads CompCams XE268 cam Edelbrock Performer RPM Vortec intake Edelbrock 750cfm AVS carb Headman 1 5/8 headers 700R4 transmission - .500" line pressure Boost valve - huge servos - servo release check valve - TCI throttle valve - TCI Breakaway 2400 stall converter (lockup) - B&M ratchet shifter, front oil cooler, TrickShift oil.

3rd Gen Camaro - Fox-Body Mustang (the good, bad and the ugly)
Most car guys don't know the difference between the 230hp G92 optioned models, or the 5-speed and automatic models, or the 170hp lackluster TBI versions (not to be confused with TPI versions)... Mustang guys smoke the 170hp TBI models, as well as the "run of the mill" TPI automatic models, and believe they can do this to any and all. Well, not all 3rd Gen F-bodies are created equal. Optioned from the factory with the 230hp TPI (not TBI) engine, manual 5-speed tranny and 3.42 gears, these 3rd Gen F-body sleepers gave 5.0 Mustangs absolute hell. In 1990 the G92 option code became a full performance package rather than simply a rear axle option as in previous model years... GM also offered an answer to the Saleen Mustangs by way of option 1LE, which consisted of the G92 optioned without A/C and other creature comforts, and the addition of Corvette brakes and other road racing equipment. About the only way an IROC-Z Camaro could take out a 5.0L Mustang from this era was with the Tuned Port Induction and addition of these performance options: G92, 1LE, L98 or B4C. The TBI powered Camaro were not at all in the same league as the performance version TPI Camaro, or 5.0 Mustang, these 170hp TBI models were GM's economy de-tuned versions and were around 50-60 less horsepower versus the performance optioned TPI models. These non-performing models gave the 3rd Gen F-bodies a bad rep on the street... many think that these were the example of 3rd Gen F-bodies, when in fact, and unlike Ford, GM offered many models, with many engines, camshafts and rear-gear ratios... 1992 Camaro RS w/ Vortec 350 700r4 3.73s 2200 stall running at the local track on 5/22/10. It was hot as shit outside and that happened to be my worst run. This particular run I was messing with my TV cable and i let off because it was having problems going into 2nd but i fixed it after that run. Best for this year is a 13.100 at 106 with a bad 60' 1.99 with trans not shifting into 2nd until backing off. Should run a high 12 with some cooler weather.
