Ford to Launch Fiesta ST in North America, Brings Big Speed and Style to the Small Car Market
• Fiesta ST -- a well-known hot hatch born in Europe and now ready for North America -- packs a punch wîth a 1.6-liter EcoBoost® engine producing nearly 200 horsepower
• New Fiesta ST is Ford's latest vehicle to wear the Sport Technologies badge, a global performance brand that debuted in North America earlier this year wîth the launch of the Focus ST
• Exclusively equipped wîth a six-speed manual transmission, Fiesta ST is expected to be a §egmènt leader in both performance and fuel efficiency
Small cars continue to be a hot §egmènt in North America and wîth the new Ford Fiesta ST, introduced at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford is expected to have the hottest hatch around.
Ford Fiesta ST, a performance model first launched in Europe back in 2005, is yet another proof point from Ford that small cars are anything but boring. In addition to a precision sport-tuned suspension and an improved braking system, Ford Fiesta ST packs a punch under the hood.
A new high-output variant of the award-winning 1.6-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine propels Ford Fiesta ST wîth an estimated 197 horsepower and 214 lb.-ft. of torque. In comparison, Mini Cooper S makes do wîth 181 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft., while Chevrolet Sonic RS produces just 138 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft.
Únlike the competition, Ford Fiesta ST doesn't simply look like a performance car; it's got the guts to back it up.
Engine : 1.6 L., 4-cylinder
Power: 197 hp
Torque: 214 ft-lbs
'This is a rewarding car to rev,' says Mark Roberts, Fiesta calibration supervisor. 'With 177 lb.- ft. of torque available from just 1,600 rpm and 214 lb.-ft. by 3,500 rpm, Ford Fiesta ST gives the performance and feel of an engine twice its size. There's no waiting at all for the power to just push you back in your seat.'
Ford Fiesta ST may be born wîth racing DNA, but buyers won't have to pay for that performance at the pump. Available exclusively as a five-door hatchback in North America and wîth a six-speed manual transmission, Ford Fiesta ST is projected to achieve up to 34 mpg.
This compact performance machine sports a unique grille and chin spoiler wîth new rear diffuser and fascia extensions. Bright tipped dual-Exhaust pipes and high-mount spoiler along wîth unique 17-inch wheels complete the visual package: Ford Fiesta ST looks like it's made for the racetrack. The car is first of its nameplate to receive the Molten Orange tri-coat metallic paint.
Ford Fiesta ST §teering is more direct and responsive than the base model. A unique suspension wîth modified front knuckle makes for a quicker overall §teering ratio of 13.6:1.
The rear axle gets increased roll stiffness to improve stability through fast corners, while the Ford Fiesta ST body sits 15 millimeters closer to the ground than the base model.
Increased mechanical grip provided by the suspension improvements is further enhanced wîth electronic Torque Vectoring Control to reduce understeer during hard cornering maneuvers. Three-mode electronic stability control - standard, sport or off - enables the ST driver to select the amount of electronic aid based on current conditions. Overall, Ford Fiesta ST provides enthusiastic drivers wîth the ideal mix of performance handling and ride comfort.
Ford Fiesta ST will also sound good on the open road. It features the mechanical version of the sound symposer first used on the Focus ST, which went on sale in North America in 2012, to provide an enhanced soundtrack for drivers out tackling the open road. It is unique for Fiesta in that for the first time the engine sound is directly fed into the passenger cabin to accentuate feedback quality and response.
Ford Fiesta ST is the result of the combined efforts of Team RS in Europe and SVT in the Únited States.

2014 Ford Fiesta ST Walkaround Video Review with Ford SVT Engineer Tim Smith
Ford recently held a Media Drive in Santa Monica California for the all-new
2014 Ford Fiesta ST Hatchback. Tim Smith who is an engineer for the Ford
Special Vehicles Team was kind and gracious enough to give Autobytel a
thorough walkaround review of this potent little car. Let's see what makes
the ST unique from the regular Fiesta model.
Check out more on the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST
Starting out back, the ST gets a cool and aggressive body kit consisting of
a rear spoiler and diffuser. Down low the dual Exhaust tips have a bright chrome finish. The
most striking thing about this car seen here is the Molten Orange Metal
Tri-Coat paint job. This is the same paint found on the For Raptor Truck.
Up front the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST features a unique fascia with a
trapezoidal honeycomb mesh grille. This gives the Fiesta a sharp aggressive
look to mirror that of the Focus ST.
The 17-inch alloy wheels are unique to the United States. The ST model gets
rear disc brakes and special brake pads. The suspension has been heavily
reworked featuring new springs, dampeners, and a 75% stiffer twist beam.
This upgrades to the suspension result in more handling control and a
flatter cornering ability. The steering arms were shortened which quickens
the ratio. The end result is a very responsive car that is a blast to

of torque. The 6-speed manual transmission helps the Fiesta ST achieve 26
MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highway.
On the inside the Fiesta ST fits the performance car treatment. The Recaro
seats have color matched inserts. The seats offer the lateral support
needed when charging into turns at high speeds. The Advanced Trac System
features 3 modes: Normal, Sport, and the Full Off. That means when you get
to the track the traction control can be turned off! The interior also
features sport pedals and an upgraded steering wheel.

2013 BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition news
BMW M celebrates DTM triumph with BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition model.
BMW Motorsport returned to the DTM in 2012 after almost 20 years away, and
the results in its comeback year exceeded all expectations. Canadian driver
Bruno Spengler won the drivers' title, BMW Team Schnitzer finished in top
spot in the team standings, and BMW claimed the manufacturers' honours.
BMW M GmbH is celebrating this success wîth the unveiling of the BMW M3
DTM Champion Edition. Mimicking the looks of Spengler's racing car, this
special-edition model is available exclusively in Frozen Black metallic,
while the carbon flaps and gurney, various dark chrome elements, matt black
wheels and sections of the race car's livery also betray its close links
wîth the triumphant BMW M3 DTM. The theme is continued by the BMW M stripe
design over the CFRP roof and boot lid, BMW M logo to the rear of the front
wheel arches and decals in the rear side windows.
Inside the car, the door sill strips replicate Spengler's helmet design and
the carbon-fibre interior trim strip bears the newly crowned champion's
signature and the car's serial number.
The special-edition model also contains various exclusive interior
additions, such as the Alcantara® §teering wheel, handbrake lever
embroidered wîth 'M Power' lettering, and extended black Novillo leather
trim wîth features in contrasting Palladium Silver.
Technical elements like the Competition package, M Drive, M DCT Drivelogic
and the M Driver's Package underline the car's focus on high performance.
Equipment including the Professional navigation system, heated seats and
Park Distance Control add more 'everyday' ingredients to the model.
BMW M is also offering the 54 new custodians of the BMW M3 DTM Champion
Edition -- which will be available in various international markets -- a
very special extra. Owners of this automotive rarity will have the chance
to attend the BMW M Fascination Nordschleife driver training course under
the watchful eye of Bruno Spengler. One of the most coveted elements of the
BMW Driving Experience programme, the course is held on the Nürburgring's
legendary Nordschleife track, where BMW M cars are put through extremely
exacting testing sessions and final chassis tuning is carried out.
The BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition will be built at BMW's Regensburg plant and
the BMW M GmbH factory from February 2013. Prices in Germany start from
€99,000.00 including VAT.

2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Popemobile
Dr Dieter Zetsche hands over Mercedes-Benz M-Class in Rome: New Popemobile
from Mercedes-Benz for Pope Benedict XVI
By delivering a new Popemobile to Pope Benedict XVI Mercedes-Benz continues
a tradition, which lasts for 80 years now. Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of
the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars,
personally handed over the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, specifically produced for
the Pope wîth special-purpose body, today at the Vatican.
'It is an honour for Mercedes-Benz to be accompanying His Holiness Pope
Benedict XVI on his future journeys wîth our new Popemobile', said Zetsche
at the handover of the new Popemobile in Rome. 'As such, we are continuing
our long-standing partnership wîth the Vatican. For more than 80 years
now, Popes have been able to rely on the quality, safety and comfort of our
The leader of the Catholic Church makes use of the Mercedes-Benz Popemobile
at a number of public appearances both at home and abroad. It gives him the
opportunity to get as close as possible to the public without having to
forego the highest possible levels of safety and comfort. It will be
possible to see Benedict XVI tomorrow in the new vehicle for the first time
as early as 8th December in Rome, where the Catholic Feast Day of the
Immaculate Conception is traditionally celebrated at the Spanish Steps.
The Popemobile is fitted wîth the latest technological highlights from the
current M-Class. In addition, the vehicle also features a new interior
design. Compared wîth the preceding model, the dome has been extended
significantly, providing an improved amount of space and more convenient
entry access. The view of the Pope has also been significantly enhanced
thanks to considerably larger glass panels in the viewing area, together
wîth large illuminated roof lining. The throne, the central design feature
in the interior, bears the embroidered coat of arms of the Holy Father.
As wîth the preceding model, the body of the new Popemobile is painted in
diamond white. And to facilitate frequent transport of the modified M-Class
by air, Mercedes-Benz has reduced the overall height of the vehicle by a
few centimetres, while at the same time improving the internal standing
height. Work on the new Popemobile began some nine months ago. The vehicle
was designed and produced by Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz has been providing vehicles for the trips and official
appearances of the leader of the Catholic Church for more than 80 years
now. The first Mercedes-Benz for a Pope was a Nürburg 460 Pullman Saloon,
provided for Pope Pius XI in 1930. In the 1960s, Pope John XXIII received a
300d Landaulet in the guise of a Cabriolet wîth automatic transmission.
(posted on conceptcarz.com) Subsequently, Pope Paul VI first made use of a
Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet, followed by a 300 SEL.
From the 1980s, Pope John Paul II initially also travelled in a vehicle
designated as a 'Popemobile' - a modified G-Class - to the celebrations in
St. Peter's Square. From 2002, he mostly made use of the predecessor to the
new Popemobile, which Benedict XVI has also used up until today. After they
reach the end of their working lives, the Popemobiles can be viewed as part
of the collections on display at both the Vatican and the Mercedes-Benz
Museum in Stuttgart.

Cross Country in a Gasser 1955 Chevy with a Hemi! - Roadkill Ep. 30
On this episode of Roadkill, it's 2,600 miles, 530 cubic inches, 700 horsepower, six
speeds, 17 mpg, and two fun visits with some friends from TV. Last time, on
Roadkill Episode 29, we finished our Chrysler-Hemi-powered 1955 Chevrolet
gasser in about two weeks of thrashing (it's the same car you saw us take,
as a bare shell, to Jim Meyer Racing in Oregon in Episode 8). On this
latest episode, we drive it around the block once, then hit the road on a
2,600-mile journey from Los Angeles to the kickoff party of the 2014 HOT
ROD Power Tour in Concord, North Carolina. On the way, there's the
breakdowns you expect from Roadkill, plus two surprises: a stop at Midwest
Street Cars with Justin "Big Chief" Shearer and Shawn "Murder Nova"
Ellington from Street Outlaws, and another with Rutledge Wood from Top Gear
The '55 Chevy is based on an original body with new quarters and floors and
a fiberglass decklid and tilt front end, and Lexan windows from ProGlass.
It's not in primer: the car was wrapped in satin black by Moody from
High-Tech Auto Wraps. The car sits on a complete gasser chassis from Jim
Meyer Racing with a solid front axle on leaf springs and a ladder-bar setup
with Vicking coilovers on the rear. The rear tires are reproduction
Firestone piecrust slicks from Coker tire, and the fronts are just like
stock VW Bug tires.
The engine is a 530ci Hemi based on a Mopar Performance crate engine. With
a Comp solid roller cam, 10.5:1 compression, homemade 2-1/4-inch headers
from a Hedman kit, and Hilborn stack injection powered by a FAST XFI
controller and Aeromotive fuel system, it makes 700 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of
torque. We were stunned to see 17 mpg a few times on the cross-country
trip, especially with absurd 5.43 gears in the Ford 9-inch rear axle. The
key to it all is the Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual double-overdrive
trans installed with a conversion kit from American Powertrain. The car
uses a Speedwires harness, charging and starting by Powermaster, and a
Braille lightweight battery in the trunk.
