The Making of the FMS Automotive Classic Beetle
Watch as FMS Automotive restores one of the most iconic automobiles in history, The Volkswagen Beetle. Building a car is a difficult task in and of itself, but building a show worthy car in a few weeks can stir up quite a bit of emotions. With the great success at the 2012 SEMA Show, it was all worth it.
We started out with a 1970's body and retrofitted most of the characteristics of a 1956 beetle to get the best of both worlds. The two tone custom mocha and anthracite blend combines glossy and matte finishes. The custom leather interior resembles that of the Porsche Cayenne to give it that luxury yet lively aura when inside the vehicle. The FMS Automotive Beetle stands proud on matte black 17" TSW wheels wrapped in NITTO tires.

1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Engine Start
First time starting up the 2333 cc engine (91x84mm) that I installed in my wife's freshly restored 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible. Yes, I know my coil is installed upside-down. The after-market wire harness was installed with too little slack to reach a downward-pointing coil. This is temporary.

It is a heartbreaker of a car, a real dreamboat and possibly the most beautiful VW ever built. However the sporty coupe does have one small drawback. Its design is far racier than its driving performance.The first Ghias were fitted wtih 30 horsepower VW Beetle engines, while later models got 50 horsepower motors. Still, when the Karmann Ghia was introduced back in 1955 this was more than enough to keep vehicles like the Goggomobil and BMW Isetta in check. During it's close to 20 years in production, some 443,000 Ghias were sold. Today this classic car has nothing left to prove. We take a relaxing drive in this stylish milestone of automotive history.
