2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 M6 - Stock/Borla Exhaust Comparison
Exhaust comparison between stock and the Borla adjustable catback with the 1/4 plate, mainly to give people ideas of what brand of Exhaust they want, and how much better it sounds/looks over stock. The completely closed plate is very quiet, and the 3/4 & wide open plate is loud and can backfire a lot. I think the 1/4 plate is perfect. Only other mods are SLP lid, UMI short stick, and Corsa clone Exhaust tips. Low-mileage examples that have been expertly maintained typically sell within days—they're incredibly popular, even nearly ten years after production ended. Sometimes, however, we get truly exceptional cars, and this supercharged Firehawk with just 7228 original miles certainly qualifies. Fast, black, and fully documented, this is the Firehawk to own if you're looking for the ultimate street brawler. With a pile of receipts for all the work, there's a good $15,000 invested in getting this car to run as well as it does. The stock LS1 is augmented by a ProCharger Supercharger installed by Hutter Performance in Chardon, Ohio. The blower lives down low in the engine bay, and feeds an air-to-air Intercooler up top that force feeds the engine cool, pressurized air. Dyno sheets that accompany the car peg the output at an impressive 454 rear-wheel horsepower. The rest of the engine bay is largely stock but beautifully maintained, with no signs of abuse or damage, and certainly no corrosion from being driven in foul weather. This car has been a toy from day one. In 2002, a vast majority of Firehawks were equipped with 6-speed manuals, but this one carries a 4-speed automatic, and is one of only 489 cars so equipped, and one of only 364 Trans Am Firehawks with an automatic, so it's a very rare piece. While some will scoff at the automatic, combined with the Supercharger, it makes for a very potent street car that's flat-out deadly in bracket racing at the track. This car also includes the optional Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension Package, which really sharpens up the Firehawk's reflexes on the street. Wheels are optional Firehawk chrome alloys wearing Drag Radials. Now back to that Ebony Black bodywork—it's as nice as any 9-year-old car we've ever seen. The paint is in excellent condition, and I'd be surprised if this car has spent any significant time in the rain. In addition to the standard Trans Am and Firehawk graphics, including the Firehawk monogram on the doors, this one has a set of electric blue stripes from Phoenix Graphix, which really sets it apart. This Firehawk also carries the optional rear deck lid spoiler, which makes the car seem longer and lower than the standard Trans Am piece. The black leather interior is equally well preserved, although it does sport a few noteworthy upgrades. The first thing you'll notice are the A-pillar mounted Auto Meter gauges for Boost and fuel pressure; critical if you're going to run a Supercharger. The deeply sculpted black leather seats are in excellent condition and snow almost no wear, despite being almost a decade old. Jim Wangers, the legendary Pontiac advertising executive, has personally signed the passenger side sun visor on this car, and was obviously impressed by the build quality and overall condition of this car.

Only mods are Exhaust from the rear back and brakes, otherwise a near stock auto Trans Am WS6, if i would had taken the corner at about 140 instead of 135, i would have made it to 160, but it did well. The overall styling of the Firebird more strongly reflected the "Banshee IV" concept car than the 1991 "face lift" received by the Third Generation model. The Big 3-0 A new 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Trans Am added a little distinction to the 1999 Firebird offerings. Otherwise, there were only minor changes. Formulas and Trans Ams now had a four-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. Buyers could choose from it or a six-speed manual, which had a Hurst shifter. Traction control was available on V-6 Firebirds. Specific V-6 Firebirds also got a Torsen II slip-reduction rear axle as standard equipment. An Electronic Brake Force Distribution system and solenoid-based Bosch anti-lock brake system enhanced stopping capabilities. Also new was an upgraded sensing and diagnostic module to improve the passenger-protection system. COLORS 10=Artic White, 11=Pewter Metallic, 13=Silver Metallic, 20=Medium Blue Metallic, 28=Navy Blue Metallic, 31=Bright Green Metallic, 41=Black, 79=Blue-Green Chameleon and 81=Bright Red. Firebird -- Series F/ V6 The availability of GM's Traction Control system was extended to the V-6-powered Firebirds this year. All Firebirds with V-8 and some with a V-6 had a Zexel Torsen II slip-reduction rear axle. An Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) system replaced the old hydraulic proportioning valve for improved brake performance. Also new was a solenoid-based Bosch antilock braking system.
