The 2012 Fastest Street Car in America! - HOT ROD Unlimited Episode 19

This episode of HOT ROD Unlimited screams with action from 200-mph street cars at one of the most grueling events in all of motorsports: HOT ROD Drag Week, presented by Gear Vendors. This is the most brutal test anywhere of real drag-racing, street-driven cars, as the competitors hit the road for 1,400 miles to race five times at four different drag strips in five days in a battle to post the lowest average elapsed time at the end of the week. The winner is crowned the HOT ROD Fastest Street Car in America. In this video, we'll follow the chase for that title in Drag Week's most outrageous class, called Unlimited. Imagine cars that run 7 seconds in the quarter mile, in excess of 200 mph, and then drive on public roads—in the rain, over potholes, whatever it takes—to make it to the next race day to do it again. Five times. Ever see a 2,800-horsepower car hauling its own trailer full of tools and parts? You will here. When you wonder how the staff of HOT ROD could ever make the statement that a Lamborghini Aventador "isn't $400,000 fast," this video will prove why with legit American street cars in a battle of speed and survival. Mitch Allread: Don't Call it a Rat Rod... - /BIG MUSCLE
It packs a 400 hp diesel out of a Ford F-350, a Dana 80 rear-end, and a look and feel that would make Max Rockatansky feel right at home. This is Mitch Allread's custom fabricated creation and it is, without a doubt, one of the coolest things on the road today. This is a machine that transcends the traditional hot rod formula by breaking down borders and setting its own stage. Whereas most hot-rods are built by custom shops utilizing parts from mail order catalogs, Mitch took a different approach and fabricated just about everything on his ride by hand. Calling this a rat-rod would be an insult - a work of art however... that'd be just fine.

Worlds Fastest 1/4 mile ever on dragstrip 3.58 secs @ 386 mph (621.61 km/h)
Fastest 1/4 mile ever 3.58 secs @ 386 mph (621.61 km/h) Santa Pod dragstrip is the venue in which the current world drag racing record, a time of 3.58 seconds at 386.26 mph (621.61 km/h) was set by Sammy Miller in his Vanishing Point funny car in July 1984 The car is powered by a fuel called hydrogen peroxide which is stored in the large tank at the front of the car. To pump the fuel to the rocket the tank is pressurised by two tanks of air - one either side of the car. Both tanks are connected together with a pair of pipes and fed into a regulator. The regulator keeps the pressure inside the fuel tank at a constant pressure (between 300-700 psi depending on the thrust required). There is also a safety valve which will open if anything should over pressurise. The fuel is then fed to the throttle valve at the back of the car, this controls the flow of fuel. The fuel is then fed into the rocket engine Inside the engine, the fuel is sprayed onto a silver mesh, a reaction takes place and the fuel breaks down giving off heat and water. This produces a blast of high pressure steam & oxygen. The engine produces about 14,000 lbs of thrust and sends the car forward at a very high speed. In 1977 in the Mojave Desert, Kitty O'Neil piloted a hydrogen peroxide powered rocket dragster built by Ky Michaelson to the quickest quarter mile elapsed time in auto history, with a timed run of 3.22 seconds at 396 mph (637 km/h) with an average speed of 279.5 mph (449.8 km/h). This was in the desert not on a track.

Dyno-Tuning the Draguar's 696 Horsepower Supercharged Small Block Chevy! - HOT ROD Unlimited Ep. 35
It's time for motor mayhem! On this episode of HOT ROD Unlimited we head to Westech Performance Group with Mike Finnegan to Dyno-tune a new engine for the Draguar, the 1974 Jaguar XJ12 with a small-block Chevy under the hood that he and Freiburger bought for $1,000 and installed a Supercharger onto in a parking lot during episode 7 of Roadkill. After the Supercharger upgrade the guys road-tripped the dilapidated car from San Francisco to Sacramento for a drag race. With the summertime air temps hovering around 113 degrees, the worn out 350 overheated and Freiburger only managed to run a 15.30 ¼ mile ET at Sacramento Raceway. Looking for redemption, Freiburger ordered a new 383ci long block from Blueprint Engines, a definite upgrade over the old powerplant. Though the new longblock is only rated to 600hp it features forged pistons and rods and a forged crankshaft, which means that the guys can turn up the Boost and make double the power of the old engine. The engine effortlessly made 650hp with 91 octane fuel in the tank but Finnegan was feelin' froggy so he added 118 octane race fuel and upped the Boost to 15 psi in an attempt to make 700hp with the 383. Did the engine leave the Dyno shop in one piece? Check out the video to see! The engine we used is a BluePrint Engines' 383 Long Block designed for power adders: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mll-bp38316ct1 HOT ROD Unlimited appears every other Friday on the Motor Trend channel. http://www.youtube.com/motortrend Subscribe now to make sure you're in on all the action! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c...
