1996 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0L V8 2WD Start Up, Full Tour, Exhaust View, & Test Drive - 197K
1996 was the was year for Explorer to be offered with a V8 option. A 5.0L V8 making only 210 HP but still making an impressive 280 ft-lbs. @ 3300 rpm so this old horse does provide lots of low end torque. A common misconception is the belief that the V8 Explorers of this generation were only available in AWD form but thats purely false! It's paired to a 4 speed auto BTW We purchased this Explorer in the spring of 2008 for $500. And since then the truck has been super reliable. Of course there were a few expected repairs that had to be done since ownership. Torque Converter $99, Camshaft Synchronize $45, Fuel pump $115, & a complete set of new ball joint $80. All the typical issues expected to hit 15+ year old car with almost 200K. But all these repairs were done in-house & not at a mechanic shop which is why cost of everything stayed low. Theres been moments where my dad thought about selling but when further thought is made, there really isn't much point in doing so. Its not often you can have a reliable mint condition up to snuff truck that cost almost nothing. It be hard to find another replacement in this case. Better off keeping it as the trusty beater spare truck to carry things & etc that you wouldn't use a nicer car with. Like us on Facebook @ http://www.Facebook.com/2Redline More than just a "sport" badge, Ford's new Explorer with the 3.5 EcoBoost delivers some driving enjoyment from behind the wheel with not much fuel penalty from the base 3.5 V6. Our only complaints are a tight 3rd row and a hefty price tag, making it one of the most expensive in the class. If you can swing the cost, you will feel as if you are driving the most premium feeling family crossover in the segment.

1999 Ford Explorer Limited Edition 4x4 V6 Start Up, Quick Tour, & Rev With Exhaust View - 185K
1999 Ford Explorer Limited Edition 4x4 V6 This Explorer has the 4.0L SOHC V6 making only 210 HP while paired t a 5 speed auto. While the 5 Spd auto was a rather early attempt for Ford as they were the only American automaker back in 1997 to have a 5 spd auto, it was quite a problematic tranny. The V6 engines were also prone to engine noises as well. THe Most Solid Explorer is the V8 version through 1996-2001 which came with the tried & true 5.0L V8 from the old Mustang. While it had a 4 Spd auto instead, it was a very reliable transmission (4R70W ) which was the same model used in Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Cars, 4.6L Expeditions, 4.6L F-150 & etc.... And if one ever want to modify the engine, one can do so with the endless supply of Mustang Accessories.

1996 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8 In Depth Tour, 0-60, & Test Drive - 191K
Just an In-Depth Tour of my 1996 Ford Explorer XLT 2WD 5.0L V8. Had lots of request over the past 3 years so I finally made 1. For the 0-60, go to 5:20 Not bad for $500 but I only got it in this price 3 years ago cause of the $5 a gallon fuel prices. I first got it with 158k & now has 191K. Pretty much just normal Maintenance over the years. Probably the biggest expense was Tires cause My Neighbor has a 2005 Sport Trac & a 1989 Ford Bronco II. He was selling his Bronco for $800 & was about to put on the stock 16" Alloy's from his Sport Trac onto the Bronco. When he saw me outside, he asked if I wanted them. I said sure And I gave him the Stock 15" wheels from my Explorer for him to put onto the Bronco which looks better with them anyways & the 16's are now on my truck & it looks better too. Cause of that, the ride has improved greatly & it completed rid a driveshaft vibe my truck had. So yeah, it has 191k & the engine, transmission, differential, Interior, Everything is just perfect. Don't see Y I should get rid of it with such perfect shape & for what I got it for. Not too concerned over the MPG's cause on Straight Highway driving, I can get 20.5MPG+ and that driving around 72 MPH. Plus it's not used full time so it just doesn't hurt to use it on occasion. Unless I Do anything else to this truck, I guess this will be the final video I post of it as I've pretty much covered it enough over the years.

EPA: 14 City 19 HWY Trims: Sport, XL, XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited Competitors: Honda Passport, Toyota 4Runner, Dodge Durango, Chevy Blazer, Nissan Pathfinder What I have to say about the 1998 Explorer: The Explorer used to be the ultimate family car back in the late 90's and early 00's right beside the midsize sedans the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. With about 400,000 being sold every year up until 2002 it had alot going for it. Why was it such a good seller? Well it was because it had great rugged looks and it's versatile interior and room for a family made it such a good seller. The ergonomics was really good too and the seats were nice and plush and the Explorer also had plenty of power on tap. There is also many different trim levels for any lifestyle ranging from the basic XL to a very luxurious Limited. All in all this sport-ute was one of the best SUVS ever made
