John DeLorean replaced Pete Estes as general manager, and he continued the
same emphasis on performance that Bunkie Knudsen and Estes had begun.
The big news for 1964 For 1964, the Tempest and LeMans' transaxle design
was dropped and the cars were redesigned under GM's new A body platform;
frame cars with a conventional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. The
most important of these is the GTO, short for "Gran Turismo Omologato," the
Italian for "Grand Touring, Homologated" used by Ferrari as a badge to
announce a car's official qualification for racing. In spite of a GM
unwritten edict against engines larger than 330 ci in intermediate cars,
DeLorean (with support from Jim Wangers from Pontiac's ad agency), came up
with the idea to offer the GTO as a dealer option package that included a
389 ci engine rated at 325 or 348 horsepower (260 kW).

This is still a work in progress. I still need to do the dash cover and
front, i need to install a different fuel pump (the one i have now is way
too loud), need to fit a rear valance, adjust the Exhaust tips, get bigger wheels ang install posi
traction. ...i think thats all.
I took out the original engine and installed a 406 chevy small block with
460HP with an R6 tranny. New carpet and re-upholstered leather seats and

1970 Pontiac Lemans Sport
Just a quick video of me pulling my car out of the parking lot.. It's a
1970 Pontiac Lemans Sport with the original 350 engine, TH 350
transmission, and the original 10 bolt peg leg rear end. It has 81,000
original miles. It went through a frame off restoration recently in which
evrything was powder coated. It also sports a new paint job and a GTO hood.
It also has some not original stuff which includes a holley 600 cfm vacuum
secondary carburetor, edelbrock aluminum intake, and Pypes 2.5" stainless
steel x-pipes with low restriction mufflers. Unfortunately I'm missing the
rear Pontiac emblem on the trunk lid does anyone know where I can find one,
Ive tried year one and performance years but its not remade. The noise at
2:28 is because I hit the steering lock nothing serious. I didnt push on it
too hard because the powertrain is 40 years old and in really good shape
and I'd like it to last. This is not a trailer queen or a museum piece
thats never driven. I drive it as much as possible because its meant to be
enjoyed. If you like old muscle cars and would like to get into the hobby
the Lemans is still relatively inexpensive and can be dressed up to look
like a GTO. This car is my pride and joy and I hope to never sell it so

1963 Pontiac LeMans Rare 4 Cylinder Four Barrel Four-speed 3.73 Posi - Half of a 389 V8
I thought you might like a look at this very unique 1963 Pontiac LeMans.
It's powered by a 194.5 Cubic Inch 45 Degree Four Cylinder, topped with a 4
BBL Carb, and running through dual Exhaust. Pontiac, basically cut a 389 V8 in
half...in fact, it uses the same head as the 389 and the 421. In this case,
the four cylinder is backed by a four-speed manual and a set of 3.73 Gears
with Posi. As you can see, it really is a great looking car and would look
right at home on the dragstrip in the 1960's. I hope you find it

Rare 1977 Pontiac Lemans Can Am - 6.6V8 Muscle Car
I thought you might like a look at this very rare 77 Pontiac Lemans Can Am.
Originally, Pontiac had planned to build nearly 5,000 of these cars, but
they ran into some problems with the mold that was used to make the
ducktail spoilers. Instead of fixing the issue, they decided to call a halt
to production. In the end, only 1377 Can Am's were built. They were packing
a 6.6L 400 cu in V8, a Heavy Duty TH400 trans, and the RTS Rally Suspension
Package. The horsepower wasn't amazing
due to the low compression used at this point, but for the late 70's it was
about as good as you could get. They are exceedingly rare and highly

on race gas! Ever go 0 to 150mph in 5 seconds -- Butch can. Butch and his
3700lb Pontiac cruise the local streets (with parachute, of course) and run
the quarter in 7 seconds. How many 70 year old men have the nuts to mash
the throttle on 2000hp? Not sure, but Butch sure does. The Pontiac was
transformed into this behemoth at Nelson Supercars.
