The new Rover V8 in my MGB - Starting for the first time
So, after a year or so I have finaly inserted a new V8 in my MGB. This
video show the very first (and successful) attempt at starting the new
engine. After 7 years on the road, the original engine's block cracked 1
month before I retired and moved to Lyme Regis in July 2007. I've never
performed anything major like this before, so this was a big and anxious
First start - side valve V8
This is the first start of the engine in an old Australian Ford army truck.
These were ordered for the Australian armed forces during WW2 by the
Australian Goverment and were originally built in Canada. They are known as
CMP's (Canadian Military Pattern) or to Australians as a Blitz.
V8 mini, with short drive
quick vid showing my V8 mini is actually a V8 mini, with rad and fuel tank
up front and a Rover 3.5 V8 engine in the rear. sound doesn't really do it
much justice, nothing too flash on the drive as it is on public roads
Black Pearl: Rover V8 Bike
Take a Rover V8 engine (3.500 ccm / 214 cui), put it in a Harley Softtail
frame and you will get something called MOTOR-Cycle.
Awesome Rover V8-Powered Trabant!
This is my buddy Pascal in Wingene, Belgium (the Pig Capital of Belgium)
driving Marino's Trabant with a 4.5L Rover V8 stuffed into it, bucket seats
and complete roll cage and a turbo 350
Transmission. Pascal was unable to do a burnout but check out me on
another vid- I know how to do it. This little thing is insane. Pascal from
Looney Art did the body/paint work, he's the best in Belgium!
ford capri 3.9 rover v8 start up
First time start up in over 2 years. Last run was in 2002 at Avon park
raceway with a 11.3 at 123mph. but in process of making it street legal
again. Vehicle was Dyno at 320bhp without nos, but
has had a extra 100bhp to run a 11.3. as got jets for 200bhp but never at
the chance. Engine has run down into the low 10s in a another vehicle, but
since then it's been upgraded and rebuilt.
Rover P6 V8 Acceleration WOW!!
Getting from minor road to major with a tight clutch. Sounds impresive -
did'nt help child's car sickness though!
According to the chap driving behind us we produced a minor plume of smoke
from the tyres - so can that be classed as a burnout ?)
The Rover V8 engine has been fitted to many great vehicles over 30 years -
TVR, Landrover, even LDV Sherpa ambulances and Police vans!
There is another video on youtube that shows an old Ferguson tractor with
Rover V8 engine fitted!! Not original equipment I would guess
