Mark Sheehan nitro funny car licensing explosion 12.03.2008
Mark Sheehan and his team were out trying to get the final stages of their nitro funny car licensing completed today at the Perth Motorplex.
On the first pass for the day, the car smoked the tyres almost instantly, then some fine adjustments were made to try and cater for the hot conditions for the second pass.
The car looked to be on a great run this time around getting to the 60' with a .972 short time, followed by a lift before the 330' in 2.59, but when Sheehan had a pedal and got back onto it, then KABOOM!
The Mustang body totally blew off the chassis and into the air and lifted the back end of car at least a metre off the ground before a second bounce lifted it up and away again. Then with some great steering, Sheehan managed to tame his ride back to earth, and thankfully escaped the terrifying incident unharmed.
We wish Sheehan and his team all the best for their next nitro outing.
Gumpert Apollo (220mph in 3 seconds)

John Force fires up funny car after 15th Championship
John Force has just clinched his 15th Championship Title run at the 2010 NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway, California. Shortly thereafter, his crew was hard at work in preparation for his next race which would be for the Final which was the icing on the cake! Here, John and his crew fire up his 7500HP funny car for a short test run, killing us all with the wonderful Nitro Exhaust fumes and incredible sound :) AIN'T NOTHING IN THE WORLD LIKE A TOP FUEL CAR!
Worlds Fastest Street Legal Car - 0 to 60 MPH in 1 second
2200hp Vauxhall Victor - Worlds fastest street legal car able to do 0 to 60 MPH 1 second. The 1/4 mile run is done in just 7.8 seconds. A McLaren F1 for example does the 1/4 mile in 11.1 seconds.
Worlds Quickest Drag Racing (Top Fuel) Pass!!!!
Doug Kalitta at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals in 2004 ran the quickest ever pass in a 1/4 mile for a piston engined car with this 4.420 second pass at 328.22 mph to take the win against Brandon Bernstein who tries to take of like a rocket ship at half track.
4 Jet Car Drag Race
Under the definition of "awesome" should be a picture of 4-jet cars racing! NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals at ZMax Dragway in Charlotte, NC ended the night by lighting up ZMax's 4 drag lanes with the fire and the thunder of 4 jet turbine drag cars creating an estimated 24,000 HP on one track! The Embry Riddle dragster takes off and runs a 5-second quarter.
Martin Stamatis' top fueller 4.577@329.10 mph in-car video
Martin Stamatis and his Read racing top fuel dragster team ran their personal best time at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) recently at the 2008 Summernationals held over February 15 and 16.
After qualifying third in the strong ten-car field with a 4.616@312.86 mph (503 kmh), Stamatis knocked out Terry Sainty in the first round with a 5.00, which left him up against Darren Morgan for the second round.
With a feeling of déjà vu after having Morgan knock him out in the second round held in Perth just two weeks prior, the team were pumped to try and level the score, and with conditions perfect for drag racing, it was Stamatis this time who won with a fabulous 4.577@329.10 mph (529 kmh) blast, which was also low ET and top speed for the event.
The run cemented Stamatis a final round appearance, and the team tried to back up their awesome 4.57 run for a new national record in the final, however the blower belt unfortunately came off on their last pass, but their 4.80 was still good enough to win the event.
After running the 4.57, Stamatis commented in a post run interview that at half track, he was wondering what on earth "Cav" (Robert Cavagnino, his Crew Chief) was doing to him as the car hauled its way to nearly 530 kmh!
Well done to the entire Stamatis team, to Read racing for providing a great car, and to WSID for yet another great memorable pass in Australian drag racing history.
dragster Fire King II - 6000 hp
It is not a race, but just a show for people. Dragster does not show the maximum speed for the safety of people around the track. This track is not aligned to race dragsters. Není to závod, ale jen show pro lidi. Dragster neukazuje své maximální zrychlení kvůli bezpečí lidí okolo trati. Tato trať není přizpůsobena na závody dragsterů. Uvedený výkon tohoto stroje je jen přibližný přepočet na koňské síly. Děkujeme za pochopení a odebírejte moje další videa :-)
