IIHS - 2014 Subaru Impreza - small overlap crash test / GOOD EVALUATION /
ARLINGTON, Va. — The 2014 Subaru Impreza and its near-twin, the Subaru XV Crosstrek, earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for good performance in each of the Institute's crashworthiness evaluations, including the small overlap front test. Beginning with 2014 models, Subaru made structural changes to improve occupant protection in small overlap frontal crashes. These changes and ratings apply to the Impreza wagon and 4-door sedan as well as the XV Crosstrek, which is available only as a wagon. In the small overlap front test, the driver's space was maintained well. Injury measures recorded on the dummy indicated a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. The dummy's head made good contact with the front airbag, which stayed in position during the crash. The side curtain airbag deployed and had sufficient forward coverage to protect the head from contact with side structures and outside objects. The Institute added the small overlap test to its lineup of vehicle safety evaluations last year. It replicates what happens when the front corner of a vehicle strikes another vehicle or an object like a tree or a utility pole. In the test, 25 percent of a vehicle's front end on the driver side strikes a 5-foot-tall rigid barrier at 40 mph. A 50th percentile male Hybrid III dummy is belted in the driver seat. Among the current models the Institute has rated, five Subaru models have qualified for a 2013 Top Safety Pick+ award. They are the Forester, Impreza, Legacy, Outback and XV Crosstrek. For the 2013 award, winners must earn good ratings for occupant protection in 4 of 5 evaluations and no less than acceptable in the fifth test. 2014 Subaru Impreza Small car Test ID - CEN1337 2013 TOP SAFETY PICK+ Small overlap front G Moderate overlap front G Side G Roof strength G Head restraints & seats G Test rating scale: G = Good A = Acceptable M = Marginal P = Poor Test details Applies to 2014 models Overall evaluation G Structure and safety cage G Injury measures Head/neck G Chest G Hip/thigh G Lower leg/foot G Retraints and dummy kinematics G Important: Frontal crash test ratings should be compared only among vehicles of similar weight. The Subaru Impreza, not including the WRX performance models, was redesigned for the 2012 model year. Beginning with 2014 models, structural changes were made to improve occupant protection primarily in small overlap frontal crashes. These changes (and ratings) apply to the 4-door sedan and wagon (5-door) versions of the Impreza and to the XV Crosstrek, a wagon with increased ground clearance introduced in the 2013 model year. Structure The driver space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of the lower interior of 12 cm at the footrest and maximum intrusion of the upper interior of 4 cm. Injury measures Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. Restraints and dummy kinematics The dummy's movement was well controlled. The dummy's head loaded the frontal airbag, which stayed in front of the dummy until rebound. The side curtain airbag deployed and had sufficient forward coverage to protect the head from contact with side structure and outside objects. 2015 Subaru WRX STI: The Daily Driver Rally Car Returns! - Ignition Ep. 107
On this episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago tests the latest generation of the perennial rally car favorite: The 2015 Subaru WRX STI. Much like the new WRX, this STI has an entirely new and significantly stiffer body structure, but unlike the WRX, it still uses the same 305 horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four that's powered the car since 2008. Our introduction to the car occurs at the press launch at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. From there, we test the STI to see the performance improvements and drive it on one of our favorite mountain roads. How does the new STI stack up? Stay tuned to find out. Ignition appears every other Monday on the Motor Trend youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/motortrend Subscribe now to make sure you're in on all the action! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsAegdhiYLEoaFGuJFVrqFQ?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook - http://facebook.com/motortrendmag & https://www.facebook.com/mt.ignition Twitter - http://twitter.com/motortrend & https://twitter.com/mt_ignition Google+ - https://plus.google.com/+motortrend/posts Instagram - @mt_ignition Website - http://www.motortrend.com

Subaru AWD vs. Everyone Else
This video was a recap for Subaru Sales Associates and affiliates that participated in a driving event pitting Subaru against its core competition. These tests were repeated thousands of times, with the the Sales Associates experiencing each event for themselves. This was NOT meant for public consumption and is therefore not a propaganda video. This video was a review for those people who experienced this driving event themselves. All vehicles were stock, had stability and traction control enabled if equipped, and were operated using the manufacturer's recommended tire pressures. While this video depicts individual instances, these tests were performed thousands of timeswith thousands of participants over a period of two months. The intended audience of this video experienced first hand the documented results.
