Had to add a little american graffiti music. For 1955, Chevrolet's full-size model received new styling that earned it the "Hot One" designation by enthusiasts. Unlike Ford and Plymouth, Chevrolet's styling was considered crisp and clean. Bel Airs came with features found on cars in the lower models ranges plus interior carpet, chrome headliner bands on hardtops, chrome spears on front fenders, stainless steel window moldings,[16] and full wheel covers. Models were further distinguished by the Bel Air name script in gold lettering.[17] For 1955 Chevrolets gained a V8 engine option. The new 265 cu in (4,340 cc) V8 featured a modern, overhead valve high compression, long stroke design that was so good that it remained in production in various forms, for many decades. The base V8 had a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 162 hp (121 kW), and the "Power Pack" option featured a four-barrel carburetor and other upgrades yielding 180 bhp (130 kW). Later in the year, a "Super Power Pack" option added high-compression and a further 15 bhp (11 kW). "Idiot" lights replaced gauges for the generator and oil pressure.[18] Motor Trend magazine gave the Bel Air top marks for handling.[19] Front legroom was 43.1".[20]

1947 AD Chevy Truck 1/8 Mile Drag Racing - Hot Rod - Rat Rod
Some photos of the hot rod followed by 1/8 mile drag runs... A home-built hot rod fabricated by my Dad and I... '47 truck cab chopped in every direction on a highly modified '84 S-10 frame... '77 305 mated to the S-10 T5... 295/50/15 tires front and back... The truck is not set up for drag racing, but it was still fun... The best time was 8.79 @ 84 mph spinning the tires through 2nd gear with a huge gap between 2nd and 3rd gear ratios. The belts started to fly off around 7,000 RPM... I also included a run by a local '55 Chevy Gasser...

Here is a quick-run in an 11-second 55 Chevy at Union Grove, WI dragaway. We launched full boar, but had to let off to make a 14-second pass. The launch and shifts are so violent, I couldn't keep the camera straight. Per spectators, it pulled the wheels out of the box and into second.
