9 Second Buick GSX Stage2 GS Stage1 9.51 @ 140
We originally built this car with Frank Urbinati back in 1996.It debuted at the GS Nationals where it won the GS Pro Street class races. It was also the 1st GS Pro Street class car to break into the 9's at the time.Thanks to Frank this project came to life. Fast forward to 2010 and the car has been taken over by Bob Ortolani,the car still looks great and Bob decided to bring it up another level. We were happy to have the car come back to our shop and to have the opportunity to work with Bob and put together the new powerplant. The video shows the results of our 1st day out to tune the engine. The 1st two passes were shakedowns to check fuel/oil pressures and get a feel for the new combo. By the 3rd run we had posted a 9.62 @ 138 hitting the 7100rpm rev limiter chip! The 4th run was a 9.52 @ 140. On the 5th run it went 9.51 @ 140.65! After a good cool down and a timing adjustment we were ready to try for a 9.40 run, launching right off idle the car gave us a nice big unexpected wheelie! The wheelie sure lookes cool but we know we can go quicker with a little more suspension work to straighten out the launch and try to keep the front down. We're sure it'll go into the 9.40's yet and maybe even 30's after everything is worked out.

This is the most recent chapter of the famous Hemi vs. Buick shoootout, with the added twist that the winner of Hemi vs Buick squares off against an L88 Corvette. The shootout was hosted by Hot Rod Magazine, and was run at Cordova IL in 2006. The cars are required to be compliant with stock appearing rules as defined by the F.A.S.T. Musclecar racing series (www.fastracesorg), with the exception of racing slicks being allowed.

CHUCKLES GARAGE "Strange Bird" Blown Buick Nailhead Powered 62 Falcon Gasser FIRST DRIVE!
This Is the Chuckles Garage "Strange Bird" 1962 Ford Falcon Futura A/GS drag car. The car is powered by a Littlefield Supercharged 401 Buick Nailhead that was originally in a 1960's drag boat. The motor sports a custom blower manifold made here at the shop, custom pistons, custom rods, wild Comp cam, Comp lifters, custom valve springs, custom hi-flow valves, mild port work, custom pushrods, custom headers made in-house,vintage Weiand valve covers, dual Buick Wildcat Rochester 4 Jets that were modified for use with the blower with custom non-progressive linkage, Nicson front cover/engine mount, custom motor plate, custom oil pan, and its backed by a built switch pitch ST400 transmission that is from a 65 Riviera. Front suspension is a Speedway straight axle kit with custom made two position shackles, and custom panhard. Rear suspension is stock leaf springs with custom 66" long heavy wall ladder bars. Rear axle is a Lincoln Versailles unit with 4.56 gears. Tires are Hurst Racing Super Cushions in the front, and Hurst 30x10 Piecrust slicks in the back. Wheels are Vintage American Racing Magnesium spindle mounts up front (no front brakes) and vintage Shelby Cal 500's out back. Seats are set back almost to the rear seat. Gauges are a Sun Super tach, and vintage Stewart Warner oil, temp, amp. This is a period exhibition car, so it will not conform to current NHRA spec. The car is being built to the 1966 NHRA rule book. It has the maximum crank center height of 25", and near the maximum amount of engine set back as well. Maximum setback was determined by the wheelbase. You are allowed 10% of the wheelbase measured from the axle centerline to the first sparkplug hole. This engine is set back 10" The car sports a fUll .120 wall frame that will be tied in to the .120 wall roll cage. It's very sturdy.
