New Vette Doctors Warhawk LS7X Engine for my 8sec Vette-Sold
Over the past few months The Vette Doctors and I have been working on updates to my 8 sec Street Beast. At the end of last season we decided that we were going to work on a few weak links in the LSx combination and go through the car for this season. At the same time The Vette Doctors also went through an incredible transformation as they moved to a new shop with more then double the Sq footage and lifts! If you have not seen it, it is outstanding!! Being the loyal customer I am of over 10 years, I told them to get that settle and then let's focus on my car. Unfortunately, that gave Carmen, Dennis and I more time to dream up changes !! We began by upgrading the ignition system to a distributor based system with a digital control box, upgrading the DFI software, adding a RacePak (thanks turboPeople for your help in spec'ing this out) and changing the intake system to a GM Aluminum Intake. As we plotted this all out we starting looking at the block and heads and considered our options. My LS2 block had almost 200 runs on it and we needed to have it re-honed. After weighing all the pros and cons we decided economically it made sense to upgrade the block. We considered going to the LSX block but GM had a hold on the product and it was not available plus the extra 100 pounds did not make sense. Given that we wanted the additional clamping power of the extra head bolts without the extra wt., we considered an after market block. After checking with GM on the availability of the Aluminum LSX and hearing it was still way off in the future we considered the Warhawk. With help from Wade Stevens and World products we went with the Warhawk. I swapped out my ETP LS7 heads for ETP Warhawk LS7 heads and away we went. Freddie Brown upgraded my transmission and Neil Chance freshened up my converter as well. Joey has done an incredible job with the install, wiring and plumbing of the new system we are going to and Denny as always has done an incredibly meticulous job with the new Warhawk. I watched as he built it with his own 2 hands spec'ing out the bearings, rings, caps, pistons etc! Absolutely Beautiful!! As you can see we have put a lot of time, money and sweat into this car this year and we do not want to rush it. I have also been really swamped at work as you could tell since this is the first I am even posting of this. Our plans are to take it to a track rental in the next few weeks and get her dialed back in! Car is now for sale. Vette Doctors Warhawk LS7X C5 Corvette on Dynojet-1300RWHP-Sold
This is my world record fastest IRS Corvette. We built a new World Products Warhawk LS7X motor with ETP 6 bolt LS7 heads for her this off season. This is our first Dyno tuning session. On the first easy pass at 17lbs of Boost and 16 degrees of timing, she made about 1000 RWHP. We were all extremely happy it made that much on the first run. We then looked at the Racepak data and I was absolutely shocked at how much that tells you about the engine and car in total! When we looked at the EGR's we could see that #7 and #3 were very hot and lean. We added more fuel and pulled it again. After we checked the Racepak again, we were surprised that it was still very hot. We added another 30% more fuel and ran it again with only a little change. We then pulled the injectors and #7 and #3 were fouled. I replaced the injectors with a spare set. We re-adjusted the fuel and re-pulled it and it cleared everything up! We pulled it a few more times, tweaking the program a bunch of different ways and after adding a few lbs of Boost to about 18lbs the car made 1303RWHP!!! Still with only 17 degrees of timing and very rich! I can honestly say the Racepak paid for itself on Saturday! One could have easily thought 1000RWHP at 17lbs of Boost was great and taken it to the track and turned up the Boost. With 2 bad injectors, #7 cylinder could have easily went very lean and burnt the piston or worse! Also, without all that data (I think we have several dozen sensors running) we could never have pulled another 300RWHP out of her! This thing is a must for any serious car guy for the street or track! To say we were happy with the numbers would be an understatement! The car is designed to run on 28 to 30lbs of Boost. We made several more adjustments and have several more to make at the track. the above numbers will be the only I share publically. Let's just say the total RWHP this car produces at full Boost is my little secret! The Vette Doctors out did themselves again!! Dennis builds a killer motor and this Warhawk LS7X is just another example of his great work! Dennis took his time and really put a ton of attention into this engine. He really came up with a great piston and ring setup, cam spec and did a great job with the assembly of the bottom end. The setup of the new ignition system was a little tricky but Dennis did a great job of getting it all to work. The Vette Doctors really build the best LS based Corvette Motors!! Thanks to Joey for first all his great work on the car both mechanical and all the wiring! Also, thanks to Joe for spending all day Saturday with us! As well as speeding around Long Island all day tracking down stuff with me. I also need to thank Job from turbo People! Once again he really is the best and put a great tune on it! Nicky at American Racing Headers also did a great job with the new plumbing. Boy has that company grown and you have to see the wild rides they have in their shop! As always thanks to Carmen for all his help in pulling it all together! Car is now for sale. Martin Stamatis 4.577 329.10 mph (529.63 kmh) drag race
Western Australian Martin Stamatis became the fastest Australian drag racer at the recent Sydney Summernationals on Saturday February 16 when he blasted his Fastlane Software Jim Read Racing top fuel dragster to a top speed of 329.10 mph (529.63 kmh) down the WSID quarter mile. The fastest speed recorded by an Australian on Aussie soil was previously held by his team mate, Phil Read who ran 329.02 mph (529.51 kmh) at the 2006 Boxing Day International Top Fuel Challenge. Although the margin may be minimal to some, for Stamatis the speed was a great personal achievement for him and his hard working team, and the 4.577 second ET from the run is also now only just behind Phil Read's personal best of time 4.571 seconds, leaving the entire Read team really pumped. Stamatis and his team then went on to win the meeting, and are now looking forward to the next top fuel round due to be held in Sydney on May 2 and 3.
