This is an unusual NRE Dyno room visit. First, this beast broke the Dyno again. Second, this engine is one of the meanist engines Tom has ever designed. Tom has to go to extreme measures to test this extreme horsepower engine. Then there is the issue of the encounter with the Black Hole. Man that is crazy! 1971 Pontiac GTO 455 H.O.
1971 Pontiac GTO 455 H.O. with a 4 speed manual transmission! This is a real 455 H.O. car with PHS documentation. The Lucerne Blue looks great on this car and options like the 455 H.O, 4 speed manual, and A/C make this car very rare! Only 476 455 H.O.s were made with a manual transmission, and even less had A/C from the factory. The factory specs were 335 horsepower, 3.31 gears (when equipped with A/C), Safe-T-track rear end, center console, power disc brakes, vinyl top, A/C, and radio. This GTO has the correct, numbers matching WC block, 197 heads, winter foundry intake, 12 bolt rear end with 3.31 gears, and numbered carburetor, and is in its original color combination. Mickey Turrin 400 cid Pontiac engine making 350+ HP and over 400 ft lbs of torque.MPG
This is Mickey Turrin's 406 Pontiac engine on the Dyno. It is pretty much a stock rebuild using Seal Power pistons, RPM rods, a crower 60916 cam, re-done 6x heads, Performer manifold and 750 Q jet carb. The engine makes over 13" of vac at 850 rpm. Engine was rebuilt with Tin Indian Performance gaskets and seals and is topped off with a set of TIP Billet-TEK aluminum valve covers. The engine makes 351 horse and 430 ft lbs of torque.
