Fazer Clutch Replacement
This is a shortened video showing how to replace the clutch plates on a
Yamaha Fazer 600. This was my first time changing a clutch using the very
helpful Haynes manual to guide me. I am self taught using the internet and
books and thought other videos I had seen weren't as useful as they could

This is pretty remedial to most people, the parts and priciples for all
chain-driven vehicles are the same. This video was created to test some
new video editing software.
My SV650 had a worn out chain, budget is tight and I don't feel like
driving the car to work in the recent nice weather. I found another chain
in the garage that is in better condition, so I cut it to size and replaced
it on the bike.

Done with OEM Parts (same procedure with aftermarket parts)
- (6) Friction Plates: 4FN-16321-00-00 (red color reference tab)
- (2) Friction Plates: 5SL-16321-00-00 (purple color reference tab)
- (7) Pressure Plates: 3J2-16324-00-00
- (1) Pressure Plate: 168-16324-00-00 (thicker than the other 6)
- (6) Clutch Springs: 90501-237L0-00
- Clutch Cover Gasket: 5SL-15461-01-00
-Pressure Plate Bolts 10mm: 5.8 ft.lbs (8 Nm)
-Clutch Cover Bolts & Cable Bracket Bolts 5mm Hex: 8.7 ft.lbs (12 Nm)
-Soak the Friction Plates in Fresh Oil for at least a half hour before
-Do not remove the coolant hose unless you plan on draining the coolant
-Clean off old gasket material (use a razor blade if needed)
-Line the Dot on the pressure plate up with the small Dot on the Clutch
-Arrow on the Clutch Cover (above the shaft arm) should line up with the
marking on the arm when the arm is pushed forward by hand (until it stops).
-Some people say you need to drain the oil. Oil was not drained before this
install, if the bike has been sitting for a day or 2 it should not make a
mess of oil.
Video does not include how to remove/install the Lower Left Faring (if you
can't manage that on your own you shouldn't attempt to do the clutch)

I replaced the fiber plates in clutch of my 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre
(VT1100C2). and recorded each step so that you can see how simple it is to

Same/similar procedure should apply for 2001-2003 600, 2000-2003 750,
I'm by no means an expert, just someone who wants to save money. I didn't
see this type of video for my model bike so thought I'd do one on the fly.
Not the best tutorial but I'll plan better next go around.

Adjusting a clutch cable
