The Le Mans 24 Hours are a legend. They are mentioned in the same breath as the Rallye Monte Carlo, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500. Since 1923, hundreds of thousands of motorsport enthusiasts have been flocking to La Sarthe year by year to experience the one-day race. To watch the protagonists in their sports cars battle for each place and each meter of tarmac with bated breath. The drivers cover 4,800 kilometers in 24 hours - almost as many as the Formula One racers in a whole year. Every Le Mans winner has gone down in history. It is the successor to the Audi R15 TDI. Like its predecessor, the R18 uses a TDI turbocharged diesel engine but with a reduced capacity of 3.7 litres and in a V6 configuration. For the first time since the 1999 R8C, Audi has chosen a closed cockpit design for their Le Mans prototype. Due to developmental and logistic reasons the R18 did not enter the 2011 12 Hours of Sebring. Instead, Audi opted for two Audi R15 Plus models, which ran in the 2010 configuration (with "balance of performance" adjustments); the two cars finished 4th and 5th, behind an Oreca 2010-spec Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, a Highcroft Racing HPD ARX-01e and a factory Peugeot Sport 2011-spec 908. However, Two "Evolution 2" R18 vehicles (chassis numbers 101 and 102) were put to the test during the four days of testing in Sebring, together with an R15 TDI as a reference vehicle, after the 12-hour race in Sebring.[4] In the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans, Allan McNish and Mike Rockenfellers' cars were involved in heavy high speed collisions with slower Ferraris. Both drivers could leave their car without serious injuries despite both cars being completely destroyed. However the remaining Audi R18 (car #2 of Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Treluyer) went on to win the race by 13.854 seconds, continuing the domination of recent Le Mans by Audi. The twelfth and last video devoted to the applications to road cars is now on line. The last episode is devoted to progress in racing and its application to road-going cars. The Le Mans 24 Hours is a real technological laboratory for manufacturers which then adapt the systems experimented with in racing to the everyday motorist's car. The new regulations have relaunched the quest of constructors, manufacturers and accessory suppliers to improve the performance of cars in racing, and then, thanks to technology transfer, these improvements find a direct, concrete outlet in the field of production vehicles.

Perrazini confirms that he did see Davidson in his mirror, but he did misjudge the distance because of the speed difference @Mattzel89 Both drivers are OK, even if Anthony Davidson suffers from a little back pain . A few laps from the 2011 SVRA Mid-Ohio enduro driving the Robinson Motorsports' 2007 Lola Judd V10 LMP1 race car. Simply awesome. I'm still smiling from ear-to-ear! George Robinson & I won the race against our buddies Andy Wallace & Doug Smith, who drove the Rogers Motorsports Audi R8 prototype! Huge speed differentials between the classes made it quite interesting. The last lap here was fairly clear, clocking at a 1:17.8 while running the club course chicane at Mid-Ohio.
