1983 Dodge Shelby Charger / May 2013 update

video 2: Since purchasing this 1983 1/2 Dodge Shelby Charger in August 2012, a number of engine updates by turboMopar's 'R/T' and 'BIGBRUDDA" have resulted in a nicely running Shelby Dodge machine. Here is a short video with a few throttle blips to show off the new Exhaust and smooth-running carbed 2.2 liter 4-banger.

1985 Dodge Shelby Charger Burn Out
Just doing a little burn out for everyone.

1985 Dodge Daytona Turbo
A video of my Daytona, there hard to find now. I had one for my first car back in 1995 and always thought they were neat cars. 2.2L turbo, 146 hp and around 170 torque was not bad back in 1985. I recently sold this car to a young kid I'm hoping he don't destroy it.

The 1986/1987 Shelby GLHS vehicles
Kazzer introduces the long overlooked low budget performance sports cars from Caroll Shelbys Chrysler turbo days, the 1986 Shelby GLHS (sedan) and the 1987 Shelby GLHS (coupe) These weren't just Shelby stickered up Chryslers, the GLHS series of cars were taken to Shelbys Whittier CA skunkworks facility where the performance was bumped up all around and limited editions were made.. 1986 GLHS's = 500 total 1987 GLHS's - 1,000 total

1987 Chrysler( Dodge) Daytona Shelby Z
It's unusual to see a Daytona in a car show..but this one is really special. It's the Canadian version of the Dodge Daytona, and is a Shelby edition, sporting a 5 speed manual and intercooled turbo. I had a regular turbo Chrysler Laser (twin to the Daytona) back in 1985. Moreover, I had the Dodge Shadow turbo in 1987. That was during my Pentastar Period!

134926 / 1983 Dodge Shelby Charger
For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/mahqh37 By 1983, the Belvedere-built Charger had become an established player in America's re-invigorated compact car market. Eccentric gearheads knew if you wanted to look cool, you bought an L-Body. And if you wanted to look cool and go fast, you bought a Shelby L-Body. Averaging just over 430 miles per year, this pint-size MoPar appears to have rarely seen anything other than sunshine and warm summer days. A quick check of the car's undercarriage and suspension reveals no evidence of catastrophic rust or abuse. A quick check of the car's profile reveals its body has never seen any major repairs. And a quick check of our pictures confirms its original Santa Fe and Radiant Silver skin is both bright and glossy. That's right, even 31 years after it rolled out of the showroom this spry sports coupe is still a true head turner everywhere it goes! In their effort to improve the Charger, Shelby and Chrysler did not overlook the car's mechanicals. They tweaked the engine, milling the block 0.030 inches to raise compression to 9.6 to 1. They changed the camshaft timing by advancing the cam a few degrees. They also made modifications to the 2.2 liter's electronic controls to extract optimum performance. Consequently, the Shelby powerplant develops 13 more horsepower and 10 more lb./ft. of torque than the standard Omni mill. These enhancements, plus a lower final drive ratio, make the car a tick quicker than the standard Charger and its early '80s competition. Specifically, the Shelby has a 0 to 60 time of 10 seconds flat and a 117MPH top speed. Shelby Chargers came standard with an A525 5-speed that feeds the front wheels. Holding that tossable drivetrain off the ground is an original Special Sports Suspension that utilizes shorter springs, stiffer shocks and correct power front disc and rear drum brakes to both lower the car and improve already responsive handling. And, at the corners of that chassis, original 'pizza' wheels spin original 195/50R15 Goodyear Eagle GTs around locking lug nuts. This coupe's tri-tone cockpit, which nicely complements its 2-tone exterior, shows hardly any signs of wear. The reclining seats keep you as comfortable for quick blasts of speed as they do during long road trips. In front of the driver, a pliable dash, which shows zero defects, is packed full of gauges that work exactly as they should. And, below that dash, crack-free consoles prop a black shifter on gray carpet that's protected by carpeted and color-keyed floor mats. If you're an enthusiast who likes to put their hardware on the road, few classics deliver this blend of exclusivity and practicality. 1984 DODGE SHELBY CHARGER -- ANOTHER RARE SHELBY CREATION
For 1983, Carroll Shelby modified the Dodge Charger, to be sold at Dodge dealers as the Dodge Shelby Charger. Rather than focusing on speed, Shelby modified the suspension and styling. The engine compression was raised for 107 hp, and the manual transmission had revised ratios. Shorter springs, special wheels, and tires complemented stronger brakes and quicker steering. Outside, a new nose and racing stripes accented the performance image. The body kits, among other parts, were often shipped to dealerships along with the car to be put on after delivery. The reasoning behind this varied, but was said to speed delivery and compensate for ground clearance issues that the cars faced on many car carriers. Production was 8,251 for that first year. For 1984, the Shelby Charger could be ordered with an optional automatic transmission. There were 7,552 Shelby Chargers sold this model year. The high-output engine, now up to 110 hp was also available in baseline Chargers and Turismos. The MPFI/turbocharged turbo I engine, commonly known as a 'T1' was added for Dodge's 1985 Shelby Charger. This engine produced 146 hp and was changed from its first appearance in the Dodge Daytona turbo during the previous year. A Garrett AiResearch T3 turbocharger and Chrysler/Bosch multiple-point fuel injection enabled the 2.2 L engine to produce the additional horsepower. A total of 7,709 Shelby Chargers were made for the 1985 model year, and 7,669 in 1986. 1987 was the final year, with just 1,011 produced. How many of these Shelby creations exist today? Most likely just several hundred of all the years these were made. Always a pleasure to see a rare car especially in this condition. Thanks very much for viewing this rare 1984 Dodge Shelby Charger.
