GM Fixes Solstice? Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe
MORE SOLSTICE COUPE @ INSIDELINE.COM:
Our hopes were high following the debut of the 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe
at the 2008 New York Auto Show last year. We had not forgotten the
ergonomic shortcomings of the Solstice. Nor had its functional limitations
slipped our minds. It was mechanically the same curvaceous Solstice that
had made us swoon in 2006. Only now it had a bitchin' hardtop.
So here we stand again with hearts racing and gaze locked on the 2009
Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe. The GXP offers you 260 horsepower from its turbocharged Ecotec inline-4 and big tires to
put the power to good use, so it's a lot more serious than the standard
Solstice coupe. Its angled roof gives the coupe an angry, menacing stance
unmatched by the roadster. This is the car we secretly want to like. In the
back of our minds, we hope it's different from the 2006 Pontiac Solstice we
lived with for a year in our long-term fleet.
And perhaps it's a measure of the intensity of this hope that our
disappointment is so devastating.
Solstice Trunk Mod - 2 1/2 inch Spring
Using a pair of 2 1/2 inch springs that I got from a hardware store, I
added them to the mechanism that opens the trunk to allow it to open all
the way instead of the stock 3-4 inches.
WebRidesTV's stunning Amber Goetz takes us for a look at Pontiac's new
sports car, the Pontiac Solstice. The Solstice was introduced in 2004 at
the NAIAS, or North American International Auto Show, and began production
in 2005. You may get the car confused with other GM models as it shares the
same chassis as the Saturn Sky or the European Opel GT.

2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Review
MPGomatic.com puts a rare 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe to a grueling
test drive in search of maximum MPGs and performance. [ Full Review:
Solstice GXP chasing Corvette Z06
Had a blast chasing this Corvette Z06 for several laps. Caught a yellow
for one segment in the middle, but otherwise full speed. The Corvette
driver gave me a pass a half lap before the end, and I did my best
"nemesis" laugh for the microphone.
Putting the Top Down on the Pontiac Solstice
Showing just how easy it is to put the top down on the Solstice. This is
done in a Solstice that doesn't include power windows or locks. Everything
is manual so I have to open the trunk using the button in the glove
compartment. Solstice owners with power options can open it using the
keyfob, if so suited
