2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 Pickup Truck World Debut Video @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show

Now at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show; the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has made its World Debut. This third generation Silverado is set to narrow the gap between itself and the Ford F-150. It has been several years since Chevy gave us a new Silverado model and this pickup truck has been totally redesigned with significant technology and powertrain upgrades. Road Test Editor Benjamin Hunting gives us a nice overview of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, like its mechanical bother the GMC Sierra, are all new for the upcoming model year. These redesigns could not have come soon enough because Chevrolet was starting to lag a little bit behind Ford and Ram in the Technology Sweepstakes in the Full Size truck segment. A lot of changes have occurred on the Z-71 Silverado with a couple of new engine choices. These 3 new engines are similar to the previous models in terms of displacement but now these motors feature direct injection and cylinder deactivation technology. We do not have power figures yet, but there should be significant improvements in both power and fuel economy.
GM has been working hard on distinguishing the Silverado from its Sierra brother. This is most evident in terms of the front grilles on the two pickup trucks. From the outside, the Silverado takes classic cues from its past, like the eggplate grille, and merges them with more modern design elements. Overall the truck is similar to the model it is replacing. But the 2014 Chevy Silverado does look a bit more beefed up with more flare in the fenders and more angles all around.
On the inside there is a more unique experience between the trucks so that buyers get the sense they are purchasing a unique vehicle. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado now adds the MyLink feature which offers better connectivity with smart phones. The improved gauges and overall updated and upgraded interior gives the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado a better overall package in terms of trims and design.
In the full size truck segment, brand loyalty is not guaranteed. Roughly 40% of truck buyers at any given time are looking to switch; based on which vehicle can give them more for their money. With the average age of pickup trucks in the U.S. nearing the 10 year old mark; we are about to see a sweeping number of new pickup truck buyers step into show rooms looking for a new model. This is what Chevrolet is counting on, introducing a newly redesigned Silverado pickup truck that can be competitive with the other trucks in this segment.

2014 Chevy Corvette C7 Stingray Interview Video with Harlan Charles @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show

How did you balance the evolution of the design with what people come to expect to see in a Corvette?
"We really wanted to create an all new Corvette, every surface, everything people see was intended to be all new but also unmistakably Corvette. In the back of our minds we wanted to bring back the passion of the Stingray; some of the famous Corvettes like the 1959 Corvette racecar designed by Bill Mitchell, or the 1963 split-window. We wanted to bring back some of that passion but necessarily the same design cues. The goal was to create a new Corvette statement going forward that builds on the past but in an entirely new way. So one of the fine balances we did was incorporating a lot of racing technology which you can see in the car via the functional air vents and cooling outlets derived from the racecar while at the same time trying to make the car more sophisticated and upscale."
Are we going to see different variations of the Corvette that will allow you to take on higher end GT cars?
"Within the new Corvette Stingray line-up we have the Z-51 Performance Package to satisfy those who are looking for more track oriented performance, but then there will be different options at a higher luxury level that can be added on such as faux leather or suede headliner. We are going to have a lot of different ways that you can tailor the car to your needs whether it is more towards the performance end of the spectrum or the luxury GT end. What this will do is not only open the car up to the hard-core performance enthusiasts, but also to those who appreciate cars in general."
Will there be additional smaller displacement engines in the future?
"I will say the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray does have a large displacement 6.2 liter engine, but there is an Eco-Mode with cylinder deactivation which essentially makes the car under certain conditions a 3.1 liter 4-cylinder. With this technology we are allowing people to have the best of both worlds: a large V-8 with 450 ft.-lbs. of torque when you want it and you can also have the fuel economy of a 4-cylinder."
The Corvette gets faster with each new generation; will we ever hit a wall in terms of performance?
"We keep pushing the technology envelope. On the C6 Corvette, we never thought that the car would make over 630 horsepower in the ZR-1, but we did surpass that figure. And I think the performance will keep on going, people will always want more power and more speed. We are going to keep pushing the envelope as much as we can."

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray Sneak Preview Car Video Debut @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show NAIAS
http://www.autobytel.com/chevrolet General Motors held a special sneak preview the night before the official start of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show for the all new 2014 C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. For 2014 Chevrolet has completely redesigned America's favorite sports car complete with lightweight carbon fiber construction, a powerful yet fuel efficient LT1 small block V8 as well as a luxurious high tech interior complete with a fully programmable digital instrument cluster; however the big news of the night is that the Stingray nameplate is back.
The Corvette Stingray first appeared in 1963 as the second generation car. The Stingray was the first coupe model to be part of the Corvette line. What made the Stingray unique was the smaller lighter weight approach. Styling was a big success and the Stingray featured pop-up headlights, a split rear window, and cool hood vents. The last model year to use this nameplate was 1976. Fast forward a couple of decades and we have this new C7 (seventh generation) Corvette with the resurrected Stingray nameplate.
Up front a pair of LED lit vertical headlamps sit on either side of the classic Corvette cross flag emblem and ahead of an all new carbon fiber hood vent that serves to extract hot air out from the engine bay and channel it over the car as opposed to passing it underneath, increasing down force and making the C7 Stingray go around corners with the greatest of ease, while fender vents are complimented by a pair of sharp looking stingray emblems.
The new 2014 Corvette Stingray should be a lot lighter than the previous generation thanks to the generous use of carbon fiber and the aluminum frame. On the outside the Corvette's design has been optimized to increase downforce and provide necessary cooling to the vital components that make this a high performing sports car. Starting up front, fresh air is drawn in from the bumper and directed through the engine bay to cool vital components on the motor. That air is then expelled out through the top of the hood via the functional hood extractor. With the Z51 Performance Package, fresh air is channeled through ducts to cool the big brakes. New for this model are trick intake vents located at the tops of the quarter panels. Air is routed to both the transmission oil cooler and the rear differential.
Out back the C7 Corvette Stingray sports a fat quad tipped Exhaust as well as a set of all new, more square, taillights that are more reminiscent of a new Camaro than the familiar round stoppers of a classic Corvette. On the inside, the 2014 C7 Stingray sports a fully customizable instrument binnacle and for the first time, optional competition sport buckets are available for those die hard driving enthusiasts.
The inside of the 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray is focused on performance driving. There are no faux materials used. Napa Leather covers many of the interior surfaces and provides a nice soft touch. Many interior trim pieces are finished in lightweight aluminum which not only look great but help to minimize weight. The gauge cluster is all digital with the option to configure the screens. There are 2 different seat designs to choose from. The first is the Grand Touring seat which values comfort above performance. The second seat is called the Competition Sport Seat and is aimed more towards the performance end of the spectrum.

2013 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost Test Drive & Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/ford/fusion/2013/ The new 2013 Ford Fusion marks the second coming for this nameplate. This sedan sets itself apart from the rest of the pack thanks to the wonderful styling. The first generation vehicle was available from 2006-2012 with a nice little styling update happening in 2010. But this second generation car blows the doors off of the first thanks in part to the Kinetic Design lines on the exterior and the EcoBoost engine under the hood. The 2013 Ford Fusion SE has a base price of $23,720 with an addition charge of $795 to upgrade to the 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine.
When you first see the 2013 Ford Fusion you are immediately taken aback. Even after being around the car for some time, the Kinetic Design elements and lines of the sedan still evoke a smile. Up front the grille looks like it came right off of an Aston Martin. From the factory the Fusion SE comes standard with 17-inch rims. Upgrading to the 18-inch premium wheels add to the sportiness. All the exterior parts including the mirrors, handles, molding, and bumpers are all color matched. The rear deck spoiler is a nice option. The Fusion also gets LED taillights and projector headlights.
Under the hood of the SE lives a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder. This base engine makes 175 horsepower. Upgrading to the 1.6 liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine will get you a bit more horsepower and torque, but a lot more MPG's for you money. The standard engine gets 22 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. The 1.6 liter with a 6-speed manual transmission will net 25 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway. There is also a ton of standard safety features on the Fusion that include: airbags, torque vectoring control, stability control, and brake assist.
This 2013 Ford Fusion features the Technology Package powered by MyFord Sync, a 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine, sport wheels, and a rear spoiler which brings the total price to around $26k. That is not a bad price for a sedan that looks this good!

2014 Infiniti Q50 Luxury Car World Debut Video @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show

The new 2014 Infiniti Q50 combines wonderful styling, tons of technology, and a high performance V-6 engine. A hybrid power plant will also be offered for the first time on the new Q50 luxury sedan. The departure from the G-Series naming scheme is part of Infiniti's Global Market aim to house all vehicles under the Q or QX nameplate.
The 2014 Infiniti Q50 is not just the first vehicle to make use of the new naming scheme; it's also the replacement for the G-Sedan. This is a very important car for the Japanese luxury brand. In the past, the G-Sedan has been consumer's most often used entry point into the Infiniti brand. That means this luxury car has to satisfy the needs of a variety of buyers across numerous markets.
Infiniti sticks with the tried and true 3.7 liter V-6 engine that produces 328 horsepower and 269 lb-ft. of torque. But the big news is the new hybrid power plant which combines a 3.5 liter V-6 engine to an electric motor which combine to produce 354 horsepower. This will give Infiniti not only a powerful hybrid, but one that should get good fuel economy.
The new 2014 Infiniti Q50 is longer, wider, and lower than the G-Sedan that it will be replacing. The luxury car is also a bit heavier. Outside you can see a lot of M-Series styling cues along the side of the car. Up front the pinched trapezoidal grille can be seen; this feature is starting to proliferate across the luxury segment, most evident in the new Lexus Spindle grille.
