2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 Pickup Truck World Debut Video @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show
http://www.autobytel.com/auto-shows/united-states/detroit/ In the past the Chevrolet Silverado has sold millions of units making it one of the most popular vehicles in the world. Now at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show; the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has made its World Debut. This third generation Silverado is set to narrow the gap between itself and the Ford F-150. It has been several years since Chevy gave us a new Silverado model and this pickup truck has been totally redesigned with significant technology and powertrain upgrades. Road Test Editor Benjamin Hunting gives us a nice overview of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, like its mechanical bother the GMC Sierra, are all new for the upcoming model year. These redesigns could not have come soon enough because Chevrolet was starting to lag a little bit behind Ford and Ram in the Technology Sweepstakes in the Full Size truck segment. A lot of changes have occurred on the Z-71 Silverado with a couple of new engine choices. These 3 new engines are similar to the previous models in terms of displacement but now these motors feature direct injection and cylinder deactivation technology. We do not have power figures yet, but there should be significant improvements in both power and fuel economy.
GM has been working hard on distinguishing the Silverado from its Sierra brother. This is most evident in terms of the front grilles on the two pickup trucks. From the outside, the Silverado takes classic cues from its past, like the eggplate grille, and merges them with more modern design elements. Overall the truck is similar to the model it is replacing. But the 2014 Chevy Silverado does look a bit more beefed up with more flare in the fenders and more angles all around.
On the inside there is a more unique experience between the trucks so that buyers get the sense they are purchasing a unique vehicle. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado now adds the MyLink feature which offers better connectivity with smart phones. The improved gauges and overall updated and upgraded interior gives the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado a better overall package in terms of trims and design.
In the full size truck segment, brand loyalty is not guaranteed. Roughly 40% of truck buyers at any given time are looking to switch; based on which vehicle can give them more for their money. With the average age of pickup trucks in the U.S. nearing the 10 year old mark; we are about to see a sweeping number of new pickup truck buyers step into show rooms looking for a new model. This is what Chevrolet is counting on, introducing a newly redesigned Silverado pickup truck that can be competitive with the other trucks in this segment.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado Test Drive & Pickup Truck Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/chevrolet/silverado-1500/2014/ The third
generation Chevrolet Silverado is here! Practically everything on this
full-sized truck has been redesigned, refreshed, and updated. The exterior
looks tough, the engines are now more fuel efficient, and the interior is
packed full of new technology. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is as capable
as ever when it comes to hauling and towing; but now with all the updates
and upgrades this pickup truck exceeds all expectations. Base price for the
Work Truck Crew Cab model is $31,715 while the top of the line 2LZ 4x4 Crew
Cab costs $43,465.
When it comes to the full-sized pickup truck game in America there are a
handful of contenders but the overwhelming giants in this segment are Ford
and Chevrolet. Last year the Silverado sold over 400k units and Chevrolet
hopes that the new 2014 model which is bigger and bolder will enjoy the
same amount of success.
Up front the new 2014 Silverado has a big massive chrome grille that is
squared off. The truck looks a lot like the Sierra front end from the third
generation. Under the hood there have been massive changes to the engine
offerings. While the displacement is relatively the same, the 3 different
displacement EcoTec3 engine choices now feature direct injection, variable
valve timing, and active fuel management. The result is more horsepower, more torque, and
better fuel economy.
The engine specs are as follows:
4.3 liter V-6 makes 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft. of
5.3 liter V-8 makes 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft. or
6.2 liter V-8 numbers have not been released
The fuel economy figures are also unknown since this pickup truck is brand
On the inside, the 2014 Chevy Silverado interior has been given a thorough
update and now ranks as the best interior in the full-sized truck category.
Higher quality materials and attention to design were the first step. There
is a 4" information screen located in the gauge cluster. The steering wheel
has controls mounted on it. There is an 8" screen in the center stack that
comes equipped with MyLink and the associated apps. Chevrolet has really
upped the ante and the seats are yet another bonus.
Pricing on the Silverado is about the same as the outbound model from last
year. There are 3 cab configurations including the: regular cab, double
car, and crew cab. There are 2 bed sizes also ranging from 6' to a 6.5'
bed. No matter which trim you pick, the Silverado is a great truck.

2013 Ford Explorer Sport EcoBoost Walkaround & SUV Video Review with Chief Engineer Bill Gubing
http://www.autobytel.com/ford/explorer/2013/ Autobytel recently caught up
with the Explorer's Chief Engineer Bill Gubing for some in-depth info on
both the appearance aspects and the performance aspects of the 2013 Ford
Explorer Sport SUV.
Up front one of the most notable appearance features is the new front
grille. Here we see the contrasting high gloss bars with the low gloss mesh
behind that really sets off the front of this vehicle. Ford took the
muscular look of the 2011 model and wanted to make the new 2013 model stand
out even more. Besides the front grille, Ford created a technical wrap by
blacking out the grille, headlights, and also the lower bumper openings.
The Explorer name was added to the front of the vehicle for the first time.
From the side the large 20-inch wheels with black painted pockets are the
first thing you notice. The blacked-out theme continues along the Explorer
with blacked-out mirror caps, side skirts, and roof rails. Out back it's
more of the same. The taillights have the smoked treatment with the rear
diffuser darkened too. The rear eye-catcher though is the dual polished Exhaust tips.
Moving to the interior of the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport the first thing you
notice is the illuminated kick plate. The interior is all about
craftsmanship with many upgrades being added to the Sport trim level. The
seats have a sienna color insert with contrast stitching. The Explorer
design team looked at European Fashion houses and looked at what was coming
out in the Leather world to gain some insights into the future of
automobile interior surfaces. The trim pieces have a high metallic look
that blend nicely with the blacked-out exterior direction. Sony branded
audio is standard with HD radio. The Explorer also features the 8-inch
touch screen with MyFord Touch.
Most SUV buyers can be categorized as those either looking for fuel economy
or those looking for power. Ford met the needs of both groups with the
different EcoBoost engine options.
The 2.0 liter EcoBoost is perfect
for the fuel economy minded customer and the 3.5 liter EcoBoost V-6 for those looking for more power. In
fact the 3.5 liter turbocharged EcoBoost makes 365 horsepower. There is a ton
of power that needed to be effectively put down to the road. This is where
the AWD system was completely retuned optimizing for the torque sensing
system making sure the power would be put to the pavement. The wheels were
widened to 9-inches and wrapped in a performance tire. In regards to
vehicle dynamics; the body structure was stiffened via a tower to tower
brace and a cross tunnel brace. Overall lateral stiffness was increased by

2014 Chevy Corvette C7 Stingray Interview Video with Harlan Charles @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show
http://www.autobytel.com/auto-shows/united-states/detroit/ Road Test Editor
Benjamin Hunting catches up with Harlan Charles, Corvette Product Manager,
at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show for some excellent insights on the new C7
How did you balance the evolution of the design with what people come to
expect to see in a Corvette?
"We really wanted to create an all new Corvette, every surface, everything
people see was intended to be all new but also unmistakably Corvette. In
the back of our minds we wanted to bring back the passion of the Stingray;
some of the famous Corvettes like the 1959 Corvette racecar designed by
Bill Mitchell, or the 1963 split-window. We wanted to bring back some of
that passion but necessarily the same design cues. The goal was to create a
new Corvette statement going forward that builds on the past but in an
entirely new way. So one of the fine balances we did was incorporating a
lot of racing technology which you can see in the car via the functional
air vents and cooling outlets derived from the racecar while at the same
time trying to make the car more sophisticated and upscale."
Are we going to see different variations of the Corvette that will allow
you to take on higher end GT cars?
"Within the new Corvette Stingray line-up we have the Z-51 Performance
Package to satisfy those who are looking for more track oriented
performance, but then there will be different options at a higher luxury
level that can be added on such as faux leather or suede headliner. We are
going to have a lot of different ways that you can tailor the car to your
needs whether it is more towards the performance end of the spectrum or the
luxury GT end. What this will do is not only open the car up to the
hard-core performance enthusiasts, but also to those who appreciate cars in
Will there be additional smaller displacement engines in the future?
"I will say the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray does have a large displacement
6.2 liter engine, but there is an Eco-Mode with cylinder deactivation which
essentially makes the car under certain conditions a 3.1 liter 4-cylinder.
With this technology we are allowing people to have the best of both
worlds: a large V-8 with 450 ft.-lbs. of torque when you want it and you
can also have the fuel economy of a 4-cylinder."
The Corvette gets faster with each
new generation; will we ever hit a wall in terms of performance?
"We keep pushing the technology envelope. On the C6 Corvette, we never
thought that the car would make over 630 horsepower in the ZR-1, but
we did surpass that figure. And I think the performance will keep on going,
people will always want more power and more speed. We are going to keep
pushing the envelope as much as we can."

2013 GMC Sierra Denali vs Ram 1500 Pickup 0-60 MPH Mashup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 GMC Sierra Denali Crew Cab and the 2013
Ram Express Quad Cab 1500 are both three quarter ton pickups but that's
were the similarities end. These are two very different pickups that
compete for different buyers. The 2013 GMC Sierra Denali is the top of the
line in terms of price and luxury. It comes with almost every option as
standard including a heated steering wheel. And unlike the Ram 4X4, the
Denali has full time All-Wheel-drive. The Ram 1500 is all new for 2013.
While it still looks like the previous model it has been substantially
redesigned. Of course the question that we wanted to answer is which of
these two pickups is the fastest when it come to going 0-60 MPH?

describe the design language of the Sierra which now features a slowly
opening back lift gate that won't slam down when you pop it open. Check out

Ford F-150 Ecoboost vs Chevy Silverado Duramax Pick-up Mashup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) Ford expects to sell almost 100,000 brand new
EcoBoost twin turbo F-150s this year. With a towing capacity of
just over 11,000 pounds and 360 HP, the F-150 is a class leading pick-up
truck. But how will it do when stacked up against a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD
(heavy duty) with the Duramax turbo
diesel engine? And perhaps even more importantly how do both classic
American pick-ups do when used the way that many people use pick-ups...as
their daily drivers? We took two of America's newest and most popular turbo-charged pick-ups and put them to the
everyman test of comfort, ease of use, and combined that with a very
unusual drag race to see which pick-up was the better daily driver.
2013 Ram 1500 vs Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado 0-60 MPH Mashup Test & Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Ram 1500 Pick-up ( you may remember it
as a Dodge) is virtually all new. OK, the HEMI engine option remains but
same as the new Ram 1500 is now available with the Chrysler Pentastar V-6
engine and a HEMI V-8. But for 2013 the Ram also gets a new and class first
8 speed transmission, and optional self-leveling air suspension and
(according to Ram) best in class fuel economy. Of course we wanted to know
know just how fast the new Ram 1500 is to 60 MPH and perhaps more
importantly how it competes with the best selling vehicle in America...the
Ford F-150. We also wanted to know how it stacks up against the Chevy
Silverado. If you are curious as well, watch this exclusive TFLcar mashup
review as we test and review all three classic American pick-up trucks and
see which one is fastest to 60 MPH.
2014 Toyota Tundra Pickup Debuts at the Chicago Auto Show
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2014 Toyota Tundra is all new and ready to go
back to work. The new third generation of Toyota's big pick-up debuted at
the Chicago Auto Show. The big news is that the 2014 Toyota Tundra now
comes in 5 different model flavors. There will be five different grades for
the 2014 Toyota Tundra, starting with the base SR and moving on up with the
SR5, the Limited and two Premium grades in the Platinum and 1794 Edition.
Cab styles will include a two-door Regular Cab, four-door Double Cab and
four-door CrewMax, all available in either a 4×2 and 4×4. Under the hood
there are three available powertrains. The first is the 4.0-liter DOHC V6
which comes standard on Tundra Regular and Double Cab models. It produces
270 horsepower and
278 lb.-ft. peak torque paired with a five-speed automatic transmission
with uphill/downhill shift logic.
