2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 Pickup Truck World Debut Video @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show

http://www.autobytel.com/auto-shows/united-states/detroit/?id=32972 In the past the Chevrolet Silverado has sold millions of units making it one of the most popular vehicles in the world. Now at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show; the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has made its World Debut. This third generation Silverado is set to narrow the gap between itself and the Ford F-150. It has been several years since Chevy gave us a new Silverado model and this pickup truck has been totally redesigned with significant technology and powertrain upgrades. Road Test Editor Benjamin Hunting gives us a nice overview of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, like its mechanical bother the GMC Sierra, are all new for the upcoming model year. These redesigns could not have come soon enough because Chevrolet was starting to lag a little bit behind Ford and Ram in the Technology Sweepstakes in the Full Size truck segment. A lot of changes have occurred on the Z-71 Silverado with a couple of new engine choices. These 3 new engines are similar to the previous models in terms of displacement but now these motors feature direct injection and cylinder deactivation technology. We do not have power figures yet, but there should be significant improvements in both power and fuel economy. GM has been working hard on distinguishing the Silverado from its Sierra brother. This is most evident in terms of the front grilles on the two pickup trucks. From the outside, the Silverado takes classic cues from its past, like the eggplate grille, and merges them with more modern design elements. Overall the truck is similar to the model it is replacing. But the 2014 Chevy Silverado does look a bit more beefed up with more flare in the fenders and more angles all around. On the inside there is a more unique experience between the trucks so that buyers get the sense they are purchasing a unique vehicle. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado now adds the MyLink feature which offers better connectivity with smart phones. The improved gauges and overall updated and upgraded interior gives the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado a better overall package in terms of trims and design. In the full size truck segment, brand loyalty is not guaranteed. Roughly 40% of truck buyers at any given time are looking to switch; based on which vehicle can give them more for their money. With the average age of pickup trucks in the U.S. nearing the 10 year old mark; we are about to see a sweeping number of new pickup truck buyers step into show rooms looking for a new model. This is what Chevrolet is counting on, introducing a newly redesigned Silverado pickup truck that can be competitive with the other trucks in this segment. 2014 Chevy Corvette C7 Stingray Interview Video with Harlan Charles @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show
http://www.autobytel.com/auto-shows/united-states/detroit/?id=32972 Road Test Editor Benjamin Hunting catches up with Harlan Charles, Corvette Product Manager, at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show for some excellent insights on the new C7 Stingray. How did you balance the evolution of the design with what people come to expect to see in a Corvette? "We really wanted to create an all new Corvette, every surface, everything people see was intended to be all new but also unmistakably Corvette. In the back of our minds we wanted to bring back the passion of the Stingray; some of the famous Corvettes like the 1959 Corvette racecar designed by Bill Mitchell, or the 1963 split-window. We wanted to bring back some of that passion but necessarily the same design cues. The goal was to create a new Corvette statement going forward that builds on the past but in an entirely new way. So one of the fine balances we did was incorporating a lot of racing technology which you can see in the car via the functional air vents and cooling outlets derived from the racecar while at the same time trying to make the car more sophisticated and upscale." Are we going to see different variations of the Corvette that will allow you to take on higher end GT cars? "Within the new Corvette Stingray line-up we have the Z-51 Performance Package to satisfy those who are looking for more track oriented performance, but then there will be different options at a higher luxury level that can be added on such as faux leather or suede headliner. We are going to have a lot of different ways that you can tailor the car to your needs whether it is more towards the performance end of the spectrum or the luxury GT end. What this will do is not only open the car up to the hard-core performance enthusiasts, but also to those who appreciate cars in general." Will there be additional smaller displacement engines in the future? "I will say the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray does have a large displacement 6.2 liter engine, but there is an Eco-Mode with cylinder deactivation which essentially makes the car under certain conditions a 3.1 liter 4-cylinder. With this technology we are allowing people to have the best of both worlds: a large V-8 with 450 ft.-lbs. of torque when you want it and you can also have the fuel economy of a 4-cylinder." The Corvette gets faster with each new generation; will we ever hit a wall in terms of performance? "We keep pushing the technology envelope. On the C6 Corvette, we never thought that the car would make over 630 horsepower in the ZR-1, but we did surpass that figure. And I think the performance will keep on going, people will always want more power and more speed. We are going to keep pushing the envelope as much as we can." 2013 Ford Explorer Sport EcoBoost Walkaround & SUV Video Review with Chief Engineer Bill Gubing
http://www.autobytel.com/ford/explorer/2013/?id=32972 Autobytel recently caught up with the Explorer's Chief Engineer Bill Gubing for some in-depth info on both the appearance aspects and the performance aspects of the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport SUV. Up front one of the most notable appearance features is the new front grille. Here we see the contrasting high gloss bars with the low gloss mesh behind that really sets off the front of this vehicle. Ford took the muscular look of the 2011 model and wanted to make the new 2013 model stand out even more. Besides the front grille, Ford created a technical wrap by blacking out the grille, headlights, and also the lower bumper openings. The Explorer name was added to the front of the vehicle for the first time. From the side the large 20-inch wheels with black painted pockets are the first thing you notice. The blacked-out theme continues along the Explorer with blacked-out mirror caps, side skirts, and roof rails. Out back it's more of the same. The taillights have the smoked treatment with the rear diffuser darkened too. The rear eye-catcher though is the dual polished Exhaust tips. Moving to the interior of the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport the first thing you notice is the illuminated kick plate. The interior is all about craftsmanship with many upgrades being added to the Sport trim level. The seats have a sienna color insert with contrast stitching. The Explorer design team looked at European Fashion houses and looked at what was coming out in the Leather world to gain some insights into the future of automobile interior surfaces. The trim pieces have a high metallic look that blend nicely with the blacked-out exterior direction. Sony branded audio is standard with HD radio. The Explorer also features the 8-inch touch screen with MyFord Touch. Most SUV buyers can be categorized as those either looking for fuel economy or those looking for power. Ford met the needs of both groups with the different EcoBoost engine options. The 2.0 liter EcoBoost is perfect for the fuel economy minded customer and the 3.5 liter EcoBoost V-6 for those looking for more power. In fact the 3.5 liter turbocharged EcoBoost makes 365 horsepower. There is a ton of power that needed to be effectively put down to the road. This is where the AWD system was completely retuned optimizing for the torque sensing system making sure the power would be put to the pavement. The wheels were widened to 9-inches and wrapped in a performance tire. In regards to vehicle dynamics; the body structure was stiffened via a tower to tower brace and a cross tunnel brace. Overall lateral stiffness was increased by 37%. See More Car Videos http://www.autobytel.com/car-videos/?id=32972 Join Our Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/autobytel

Built in San Antonio Texas, the Tundra offers the perfect balance between drivability and capability. 1) Ford F-150 EcoBoost http://www.autobytel.com/new-cars/ford/f-150/?id=32972 Ford's EcoBoost engine technology consists of direct injection and twin-turbochargers have proven effective in the line-up of cars, and now we find this engine making its way onto more F-150 trucks. Volkswagen CrossBlue TDI Diesel Hybrid Concept Car Video @ 2013 Detroit Auto Show
http://www.autobytel.com/auto-shows/united-states/detroit/ Volkswagen has long been the torch bearer for clean diesel technology in the U.S. Their line-up of TDI cars have been at the top of the fuel economy list for non-hybrid vehicles over the past decade. Autobytel's Editor in Chief caught up with Kevin Joostema who is the Volkswagen GM of Product Marketing and Strategy for some inside info on this new CrossBlue hybrid concept car. The VW CrossBlue concept combines the best of both worlds; a very fuel efficient TDI engine with two electric motors. This highly innovative system takes the world famous line of TDI engines and combines that power plant with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. The result is not only a powerful SUV but a very economical one. The combined power output is said to be 305 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy figures are estimated at 89 MPGe (electric mode only) and 35 MPG hybrid mode. The CrossBlue Concept Car is a concept study for a mid-sized SUV. What is unique about this concept car is that it is a 6/7 Seat SUV that gets incredible gas mileage. The CrossBlue is a study on what the needs and shape of a future SUV could be. The unique and interesting part is the powertrain. The concept has a dual plug-in hybrid diesel powertrain that has an 89 MPG electric rating and 35 MPG in the hybrid electric assist mode. Volkswagen is using this concept as a study in an effort to gather the public's reaction. VW has experienced year over year growth for 3 years straight and they know that in order to sell 800k vehicles in the U.S. this segment is an important market. 2014 GMC Sierra SLT Walk Around
The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is a full-size, light-duty pickup truck offered in regular, extended, and crew cab body styles. It is completely redesigned for 2014, equipped with a choice between three new engines, and offered with several options that are new to the Sierra lineup. "Our engineers and designers left nothing on the table when developing this latest Sierra pickup," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing. "These trucks have all the power and capability that's expected in today's market, excellent fuel efficiency, plus a lot of unexpected, purposeful features developed with truck owners in mind." The 2014 Sierra Crew Cab goes on sale in the spring of 2013, with regular- and extended-cab models following shortly thereafter. The new 2014 Sierra 1500 is offered with a choice of a 4.3-liter V-6, 5.3-liter V-8, or a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, all equipped with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing, and GM's proprietary Active Fuel Management technology that shuts off half of the engine's cylinders under low-load driving conditions to conserve fuel. Perhaps in reference to the 2013 Ram 1500's new 3.6-liter V-6 engine, Jordan Lee, powertrain chief engineer for the new Sierra, said: "Rather than adapting a V-6 intended for use in passenger cars, we built a new engine from the ground up based on the unique demands of a truck. Sierra's 4.3-liter V-6 shares its basic design architecture with the latest iterations of the V-8 engines that GMC owners have trusted for generations." All three of the Sierra's new engines develop more horsepower and more torque than the engines they replace, and are more fuel efficient. Final power, payload and tow ratings will be available when the new Sierra debuts at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2013. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard, and includes a new Cruise Grade Braking feature. Electric steering, new DuraLife brake rotors, and a stiffer suspension with aluminum upper and lower front control arms are also included on the 2014 Sierra. -JDPower.com Music (In order): "Not Like You" by True Becoming Check them out on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/TrueBecoming?ref=hl

2013 GMC Sierra Denali vs Ram 1500 Pickup 0-60 MPH Mashup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 GMC Sierra Denali Crew Cab and the 2013 Ram Express Quad Cab 1500 are both three quarter ton pickups but that's were the similarities end. These are two very different pickups that compete for different buyers. The 2013 GMC Sierra Denali is the top of the line in terms of price and luxury. It comes with almost every option as standard including a heated steering wheel. And unlike the Ram 4X4, the Denali has full time All-Wheel-drive. The Ram 1500 is all new for 2013. While it still looks like the previous model it has been substantially redesigned. Of course the question that we wanted to answer is which of these two pickups is the fastest when it come to going 0-60 MPH?

2013 Toyota Tundra takes on Ford, Chevy & the Ike Gauntlet Mashup Towing Test ( Episode 1 )
( http://www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2013 Toyota Tundra Pickup is built to tow. But is it better than the Ford F-150 and the brand new Chevy Silverado? We decided to find out by putting all three pickups up against each other in a Mega Mashup by having them tow the old Lincoln Continental Mark V Diamond in the Rough up one of the steepest and highest American Highways. From Dillion, Colorado to the Eisenhower Tunnel U.S. I-70 climbs 8 miles to a maximum elevation of 11,158 feet or 3,401 meters. That's enough elevation and grade to test the most powerful of pickups. Is the Toyota Tundra up to the task of towing a over 7,000 pounds up to the top of the tunnel? In fact according to Toyota this pickup can tow up to 9,000 pounds. That's enough weight to need a commercial truckers license in most states. In this first TFLtruck Ike Gauntlet video review we test the truck up the Ike Gauntlet see how fast it will tow over 7,000 pounds of old American Luxury car 8 miles up a 7 percent grade to the Eisenhower tunnel with the help of our friend Kent from ( http://www.MrTruck.com ).
