Thai Super Car Rd 5/6 Bira: Super 2000 Rd 6, Aug 22, 2010: Grid & Race
The morning starts with the Super Club Sport Truck race won by Pitak K (#6 Isuzu) who crossed the line just under 10 seconds ahead of Sutiphot P (#19 Chevrolet). The Super Club FF race goes to Komkrit L (#41 Honda Civic) while the Super Club Classic encounter goes to "Japanese" category driver Chalermpon P (#86) Toyota with the "Euro Retro" runners led out by Artapon Ch (#79 BMW) who is just 3.163 seconds back at the chequered flag. The podium is rounded out by the pretty yellow #27 Porsche 944 of Henk Kiks which started from pole position but soon dropped back to finish 17.343 seconds back at the flag. A comfortable victory in the Production 1500 race goes to Paradon Nutchanart (#89 Toyota Vios) while there is quickly another clear winner, Pisanu Sirimongkhonkasem (#90 Toyota Yaris), who collects the spoils in the following Super 1500 race. The morning's final race see the Super Commonrail runners belching their thick black diesel smoke around the track, choosing a variety of racing lines and engaging in plenty of crowd-pleasing door-to-door action. Victory eventually goes to Mana Pornsiricherd (#59 Mitsubishi Triton) who has just over three seconds in hand over Kajonsak Na Songkla (#4 Isuzu) at the end of the 20-lap encounter. The atmosphere builds toward the "big race" showdown as the crowd surges into the infield for the post-lunchtime pit walkabout. The final two races, before the top-billing "Super Car" runners slug it out at 15:45, are the Super 2000 and Super Bike categories. The former race sees a rolling start for the twenty two cars that line up on the dummy grid and there is a lead duel to grip the crowd between Preeda Tantemsapya (#36 Honda Integra) and Nitikorn Pusuntorntum (#52 Honda Civic), the former getting to the chequered flag of the 19-lap race just 0.818 seconds ahead while the latter driver is consoled by winning the "Amateur" class. Making it a clean sweep of the podium positions for the Honda brand is Jakthong Navasoopanich (#3 Integra) who also helps to make it a 1-3 finish for the JBT/PureThai racing outfit. The Super Bike runners include almost-retired Thai professional tennis legend and now turned motorbike racer Paradorn Srichaphan (#79 Honda GBR 1000RR08) who is in the thick of the race action while victory eventually goes to Christmas W (# Honda CBR 1000RR 06).

H.DRIVE RACING Products Website: http://www.hdrive-racing.com Email: info@hdrive-racing.com Dog Box Transmission on Toyota VITZ Super 1500 - SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT H.Drive Racing Dog Box Transmissions Dog engagement is normally used in racing applications where fast, precise shifting is needed. Dog gear engagement is facilitated by numerous large teeth (dogs) that mate into matching openings machined into the opposite surface of the drive gear. Unlike the synchro engagement, there is no synchronizing mechanism to assist in equalizing speed. Ideal gear selection—e.g. minimal clashing and wear of the dog rings—is achieved by quick shifts; the motto here is "the quicker the better", so bang away. There is no depressing the clutch in the conventional sense like with the synchromesh transmission. A momentary break in engine load until the shift is achieved by a quick throttle blip or clutch depression. The driver will then experience the dog ring engaging with the next gear and the throttle can be reapplied. With practice this can be done in milliseconds. In fact, a driver can preload the stick shift in the direction of the next shift, and then when he either blips the throttle or clutch the shifter will quickly click in the desired gear. With all else equal, dog-engagement gears are much stronger than synchro-engagement gears because without needing to make space for synchro rings, the gears themselves can be made thicker. The number of dogs (teeth) and the size of the openings determine the window of opportunity that the dogs have to engage during the shift event. Rings with a smaller number of teeth provide a more efficient, smoother shift quality. The downsides to this easier engagement are increased noise and abruptness on the shift.
