1963 Ford Thunderbird Convertible - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars
Originally brought to market in response to Chevrolet's Corvette, the Ford Thunderbird was promoted as a "personal luxury car" that just happened to be very sporty. This campaign, combined with sticker prices lower than Corvette's, brought tremendous success for the Thunderbird through 1955 to 1957. The rousing popularity of the Thunderbird prompted Ford executives to broaden it's appeal. The all new Thunderbird for 1958 was a larger four-seater car that retained the sleek sport styling of it's first generation predecessor. The third generation Thunderbird for 1961-1963 was very futuristic and unlike anything else on the road. The tonneau cover, which hides the rear seats, is rare today as it was an expensive option. But it's availability completes the 61-63 T-bird convertible as among the most striking automobiles produced to this day. http://www.coolcarsvideo.com 1963 Ford Thunderbird Convertible - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars All the exotic cars, muscle cars, and performance cars you can imagine have shown up here - or will. 1964 Ford Thunderbird TPA FLA
Up for sale in the Tampa showroom is this gorgeous 1964 Ford Thunderbird. For 1964 the Thunderbird for sale was restyled and restored in favor of a more squared-off appearance, which was mostly evident when viewing the car from the side or rear. Hinting at its roots in the previous generation Thunderbird that it evolved from, the new model retained a similar grille design with dual headlights. The surrounding chrome is in place and is in phenomenal condition. As before, the new Thunderbird continued to be offered in hardtop, convertible, and Landau versions. This particular one coming in as the elusive convertible version, and yes it works and works properly. 60 Seconds going up, 60 seconds going down, and even through brand new hydraulic system, the restorer even placed the brand new matching spare in factory location. The Second to Fourth Generation Thunderbird convertibles were similar in design to the Lincoln convertible of the time and borrowed from earlier Ford hardtop/convertible designs. While these Thunderbird models had a true convertible soft top, the top was lowered to stow in the forward trunk area. This design made more available trunk space when the top was down. The 300 horsepower 390 cu in (6.4 L) FE big block V8 continued as the standard engine for the Thunderbird as it was one of the most "sturdy" and reliable big blocks on the market in that day. It was paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and that is backed by a Ford 9 inch rear end with a wonderful highway cruiser gear. Options include: Am/Fm, automatic convertible top, hub caps, power brakes, power door locks, power steering, power windows, vinyl seats, seat belts, numbers matching and radial tires.
