1958 Lancia Aurelia - Jay Leno's Garage
1958 Lancia Aurelia. Shortly after Vincenzo Lancia was born in 1881, his father chose his future, deciding that his son would become a lawyer. Sadly, Vincenzo proved inattentive at his studies, so papa Giuseppe reformulated his plan, sending his son to college at age 12 with the goal of becoming an accountant. It was about that time that Vincenzo started hanging out at the local bike shop, and soon demonstrated talent as a mechanic. » Subscribe: http://bit.ly/JLGSubscribe » Visit the Official Site: http://bit.ly/JLGOfficialSite THE BEST OF JAY LENO'S GARAGE » Exclusive First Looks: http://bit.ly/JLGExclusives » Ultra Rare Supercars: http://bit.ly/JLGSupercars » Jay's Book Club: http://bit.ly/JLGBookClub JAY LENO'S GARAGE ON SOCIAL Follow Jay: http://Twitter.com/LenosGarage Like Jay: http://Facebook.com/JayLenosGarage ABOUT JAY LENO'S GARAGE A new video every Sunday! Lancia Delta S4 Rally Pure Engine Sound The Lancia Delta S4 is a Group B rally car that competed in the World Rally Championship in 1985 and 1986, until Group B cars were banned from competition by the FIA. The car replaced and was an evolution of the Lancia 037. The S4 took full advantage of the Group B regulations, and featured a midship-mounted engine and all-wheel drive for superior traction on loose surfaces. Best of Rallyefans03

Lancia Stratos replica: is the Lister Bell STR kitcar better than the real thing?
The Lancia Stratos was a supercar like no other, but with just 492 built, values are vast. So what if you could get then Stratos look, sound and pace for £30k? Step forward Lister Bell STR kit car. SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://smarturl.it/autocar If there's one kit car capable of leaving us besotted, it's the Lister Bell STR, a newly developed Lancia Stratos replica that is exquisitely put together. The appearance is bang on, the attention to detail is superb...and the driving position is better than the original's. Power comes from a 2.5-litre Alfa Romeo V6, which makes the right noises and, with about 190bhp, the right amount of shove. It steers and handles really sweetly, too. That you could put a lovely one together yourself for less than £30,000, or have a turn-key car for not much over £40,000, sent a lot of our staffers away to examine their finances. Thanks to Steve Hole at http://www.totalkitcar.com Autocar, the world's leading motoring magazine and website, delivers industry-leading news, the most in-depth car reviews and opinion from our team of experts. Can a supercar beat a superbike? Can a Audi A1 outrun a Nissan GT-R on a wet circuit? Can a Porsche 911 slay a Corvette on the drag strip? Lancia 037 Group B Represents Last Era of Racing Romance
Imagine yourself in Lancia’s position in the early 1980s. Your Stratos has recently won three consecutive World Rally Championships (1974-76) but you can see the writing on the wall, writing which reads “all-wheel-drive.” How do you build on this past success and continue to be competitive in the new decade? For Lancia, the answer was the 037, which would ultimately become, in 1983, the last rear-wheel-drive car to win the WRC Manufacturers' Championship before AWD competitors like the Audi Quattro and Peugeot 205 T16 completely changed the sport forever. To compete in Group B events, Lancia was obliged to meet homologation rules by producing 200 street versions of the 037. While visually striking and invigorating to drive, the 037 Stradale remains, at heart, a race car and is thus anything but comfortable. This, however, is precisely what appeals to owner Philip Toledano, who grew up watching Lancia–more specifically, the Stratos and 037–dominate European rally racing. “It’s not like [the 037] was just a sports car designed for people who wanted to go fast,” says Phil. “This was designed for a purpose, and I love things that were designed specifically for a purpose, like a tool–except it's a fast tool that scares the crap out of you.” The interior of the 037 Stradale belies the car’s racing heritage: the dash contains a circuit board, conveniently located for periodic resets by the navigator; a navigator’s light stands at the ready; and the oil temperature gauge is located on the far right side of the dash, in front of the navigator’s seat. The 037's exterior is similarly eye-catching. Sporting a Pininfarina body and a 2.0 liter, supercharged Abarth engine that, as Phil puts it, makes Star Wars-like noises as he revs through the gears, the car attracts onlookers wherever it goes. Usually, however, this 037 is but a screaming red blur, leaving those onlookers little time to realize what they’ve just seen.
