AIRPod is the culmination of MDI studies on pollution and urban mobility.
This concept will be the first to leave the production line in spring 2009. MDI will respond to an invitation to tender of the city of Paris, "Autolib'", and is already the subject of applications for various municipalities.
With small size, a tiny price, zero pollution, fun and futuristic design, AIRPod mark a turning point in the range of urban vehicles while renewing the idea of the automobile and transportation. AIRPod is part of the MDI production licence of "less than 500kg vehicles", and is manufactured in the same factories as OneFlowAir, following the original production concept proposed by MDI.
The standard version is designed for the transport of persons. It has four seats (3 adults and one child) and has space for luggage. It is dedicated to multiple uses as in the private and public sectors. Airports, train stations and municipalities also need a cheap, non-polluting car with high mobility.
This wehicle is changing our urban life in the city center in freeing ourselves of the prohibitive cost of petrol and offering us mobility never gained until today.
This carriage version with a single place has a load volume greater than one meter cube that makes deliveries easy in town. Susan Carpenter has a look at the E-Tracer, the all-electric
X-Prize-winning "cabin motorcycle" that averages 205.3 miles per gallon
equivalent and can reach a top speed of 200 mph. The "less than $100,000"
vehicle will go into production in 2011. Its target market is California.

Rinspeed's first underwater Car
Rinspeed will present its new sQuba, the worlds first diving car, at the
Geneva Motor Show (March 6-16). The car is not only able to drive on roads
autonomously with a push of a button (thus without a driver, passenger or
further assistance), but can also transform into an amphibious vehicle
which can be submerged in water up to 10 meters (33 feet). An electric
motor with powerful torque drives the rear wheels, while the propulsion on
the water is ensured by two propellers in the stern and two powerful jet
drives in the bow propelling the vehicle under water while diving. When
underwater, the driver and passenger are enclosed in the vehicle thanks to
light weight body components made of futuristic Carbon Nano Tubes and are
supplied with fresh breathing air by the self-contained on-board system.

Tata Pixel, new city car concept for Europe
ata Motors today presented at the 81st Geneva Motor Show the Tata Pixel, a
new city car concept for Europe. Based on the Tata Nano, the Tata Pixel --
at just over three metres in length -- is the most package efficient
four-seater in the world, comfortably accommodating four adults, unlike a
typical city car which is either a two-seater or can accommodate two adults
and two children only.The Tata Pixel's ability to manoeuvre and park in the
tightest of spaces is made possible by its Zero Turn toroidal
traction-drive Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT), which assists
rotation of the outer rear wheel forwards and the inner rear wheel
backwards, while the front wheels turn at acute angles. The result is a
turning circle radius of just 2.6 metres. The 'scissor' doors rotate
upwards from the front to allow passengers to effortlessly enter or exit
the Tata Pixel, even in the tightest of spaces.A 1.2 litre three-cylinder
turbocharged diesel engine, positioned
at the rear of the Tata Pixel, gives lively performance. The engine is a
low-friction design, featuring variable coolant and oil pump and rapid
warm-up technologies. With optimised aerodynamic drag, low
rolling-resistance tyres, stop-start technology, and intelligent battery
charging, the Tata Pixel returns European combined cycle (NEDC) fuel
economy of 3.4 l/100km and CO2 emissions of just 89g/km.A forward sweeping
roofline, with minimal front and rear overhangs, accentuates the youthful
styling. The Tata Pixel is also designed to provide a high level of
connectivity. Key functions are controlled by the driver's smart phone,
running 'My Tata Connect' -- the first integrated human-machine interface
(HMI) concept from Tata Motors.

2014 BMW i8 Review
What's New for 2014
The 2014 BMW i8 is an all-new model.
Based on the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car shown a few years
ago, the 2014 BMW i8 represents the German automaker's vision of a
high-performance plug-in hybrid. If this is what the future looks like,
sign us up. Zero to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds? A full charge in three hours
from a regular garage outlet? Approximately 95 mpg? Yes, please.
For the i8, BMW chops its classic 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine
formula in half. The i8 uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder
paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. The
three-cylinder drives the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic
transmission, while the electric motor powers the front wheels through a
The engine and electric motor combine for 362 horsepower, 420 pound-feet
of torque and all-wheel-drive performance, all integrated into a chassis
that is 10 pounds lighter and 1.5 inches longer than the 3 Series. The i8
also delivers stellar handling thanks to 50/50 weight distribution and a
low, centrally mounted battery pack, although standard 20-inch wheels seem
like a suspect choice for maximizing corner-to-corner performance.
BMW says the i8 can also travel 22 miles and reach a top speed of 75 mph on
electrons alone. Uncorked with the gasoline engine in the lead, it will
reach a top speed of 155 mph. Sounds like a pretty good future to us.
Lightweight construction helps bring lofty performance within reach,
notably an aluminum chassis, chemically hardened glass (similar to that
used in smartphones) and extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced panels
within the 2+2 passenger cabin. Those plus-2 rear seats are small, however,
smaller than even a Porsche 911's, and are best considered auxiliary
luggage space. Even settling into the front seats requires some practice
given its unique scissor-lift-style doors.
We drove a recent i8 prototype and found the i8's easy thrust in
all-electric mode a close match for the Tesla Model S. In its Sport mode
(there are also Comfort and Eco Pro settings), the i8 further awakens,
feeling light, agile and averse to body roll. The hybrid never quite
overwhelms with acceleration, but it also never feels winded, the electric
motor's torque nicely covering for the small turbo as the latter winds up to deliver its power
Whatever the i8 lacks in competitive performance, it won't lack for style.
Its low-slung profile is punctuated by standard U-shaped LED headlights.
You can even order the i8 with laser headlights where regulations allow
(sorry, U.S. shoppers). Inside, a multitiered and layered cockpit design
uses recycled materials and naturally treated leather for upholstery and
panel surfaces Like the smaller i3 electric car, the i8 will offer three
trim levels -- Mega, Giga and Tera -- all with varying degrees of sport and
The 2014 BMW i8 arrives in the spring and starts around $136,000. That's
well above its most obvious target, the Tesla Model S, and that kind of
money also buys a lot of Porsche 911. Performance aficionados won't likely
be swayed and may even look across the BMW lineup to the "M" cars. But for
the hybrid buyer seeking power, performance and efficiency through a lower
profile, the 2014 BMW i8 presents a unique choice.

oggi inoltre si aprono le prenotazioni sul sito web www.renault-ze.com, il
portale della Casa francese dedicato alla propria gamma elettrica che
comprende allo stato attuale anche Fluence Z.E. e Kangoo Z.E. La Renault
Twizy sarà commercializzata in Italia all'inizio del 2012 in due
motorizzazioni e altrettanti allestimenti, denominati Urban e Technic.
RENAULT TWIZY URBAN
Come annunciato al Salone di Ginevra 2011, la gamma Twizy sarà
commercializzata in Europa a partire da 6.990 euro IVA compresa per la
versione Twizy Urban 45, versione equipaggiata con motore da 5 CV e
velocità massima limitata a 45 km/h che in Italia può essere utilizzata
anche con il patentino. Al prezzo di partenza si dovranno aggiungere 45
euro al mese (IVA compresa) per l'abbonamento al noleggio della batteria.
La Twizy Urban equipaggiata con motore elettrico da 17 CV, destinata invece
ai possessori di patente B e superiori, verrà commercializzata ad un
prezzo di 7.690 euro, con un prezzo per il noleggio mensile degli
accumulatori che sale a 49 euro al mese. I colori disponibili sono le
vernici opache "Grigio Nuage" e "Rosso Filament" e copricerchi grigi,
mentre l'equipaggiamento comprende disappannamento e pre-equipaggiamento
audio (l'optional si chiama "Pack Confort" su Twizy 45), prese accessori,
cavo e caricatore integrati (la ricarica avviene in 3 ore e 30 minuti),

are only filtered air that's cleaner than outside air. 300 bars of pressure
in carbon-fibre & kevlar air tanks. Car can travel at 110 km/hr and has a
