Designed to become one of the most luxurious and advanced vehicles ever constructed, the 2014 S-Class has an evolutionary design that incorporates a sportier front fascia, a larger grille and a gentle slanting rear end. The sleek styling enables the model to have drag coefficient of 0.24 which is pretty impressive considering the pint-sized CLA has a drag coefficient of 0.23.

The new SLK boasts a wide SLS AMG-inspired front grille with a long hood as well as relatively wide doors and a short rear section. The SLK convertible is available in U.S. showrooms this month with a suggested retail price starting at $54,800 (excluding D&D). MAGIC SKY CONTROL The standard convertible roof panel is made of body-color polycarbonate, and an optional Panorama Roof features a see-through panel. Also optionally available is a MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof, in which the tinting of the panel can be changed by the occupants, using the same electrochromic technology as automatic dimming mirrors. Sandwiched between two layers of glass, a chemical film called a matrix polymer holds oblong nano particles that line up uniformly when electrical current is applied, allowing light to pass through. When the electrical current is turned off (via a button above the rearview mirror), the nano particles disperse randomly, reducing light and tinting the roof panel. New Direct-Injection Engines The 2012 SLK line debuts with the SLK350 model, powered by a new 3.5-liter V6 engine that features direct injection and multi-spark ignition. With even more power and better fuel economy than its predecessor, the new SLK engine generates 302 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. Early next year the SLK250 will join the line-up featuring a new turbocharged 1.8- liter direct injection four-cylinder engine that produces 201 hp and 229 lb.-ft. of torque. New Transmission The 2012 SLK line features a new transmission with a more advanced torque converter lockup clutch that provides even better fuel mileage, more responsive driving, quieter operation and increased durability. The new transmission is also designed to work best with a new type of low-viscosity ATF transmission fluid - colored blue instead of the usual red. Together with new planetary gears, bearings and internal seals, the "FE-ATF" fluid provides less friction and improved fuel mileage.

Fingertip control The SLK-Class is equipped with an advanced twelve-button multi-function steering wheel, enabling you to perform a range of tasks without distracting your attention from the road. From conducting phone calls to changing radio stations, the multi-function steering wheel offers an intuitive, convenient solution. In keeping with the roadster's sporty persona, the steering wheel has a small 375 mm diameter, thick rim trimmed in Nappa leather, and a racing-style flattened lower section. Perfect driving conditions Fitted as standard on the SLK-Class, Automatic Climate Control lets you set individual temperatures for the driver and front seat passenger. Dust, pollen and pollutant filters help keep the in-cabin air clean throughout your journey. Optional Luxury Automatic Climate Control goes further still, enabling different air distribution to be set for the left and right hand sides of the vehicle. In addition, the system uses sophisticated sensors to monitor the interior temperature, the temperature of the air flowing from the vents, the air humidity, and the intensity and angle of sunlight. A pollutant sensor monitors carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide concentrations outside the vehicle. Should pollutant levels rise rapidly, the air recirculation flap is closed automatically. Defy the elements To help you enjoy top-down motoring as often as possible, the latest SLK-Class comes equipped with two ingenious optional features. Airscarf is a neck level heating system, which uses vents built into the seats to circulate warm air around your neck and shoulder area -- a real asset on those bright yet cold autumn days. Meanwhile, Airguide comprises a pair of transparent draught deflectors discreetly located behind the seat headrests. When required, these manually pivot into position helping to minimise turbulent air flow and noise within the cabin. Another level of refinement The optional Dynamic Handling Package further refines the SLK-Class driving experience with a range of advanced technologies. The electronically controlled Adaptive Damping System automatically softens the ride to compensate for any poor road surfaces, yet maintains high driving dynamics. Direct Steer offers supremely quick, precise steering and reduces the amount of effort required during parking manoeuvres. And when cornering, Torque Vectoring Brake applies braking individually to the inside rear wheel to enhance stability and control.
