Capri V8 v. Original Atlas Diff
Second run of the day at Santa Pod- first was 13.04, and aiming for my first 12 second run. Second gear, new sticky Toyos, dumped clutch and diff grenades. Smashed the little planetary gears into itty bitty pieces. Will now rebuild with 3.09 gears and trying to persuade the Mrs. that an LSD would be wise. So far no luck. A special thanks to the helpful marshall who shouted out, in the spirit of the day (VW aircooled festival- weird evolutionary dead-ends) that I should stick to cars built in Germany. As a VW inbreed he didn't know the diff was the only original part in the transmission- and it's German.
