Mazda 787b Sound at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011 - Raw Sound/Hill climb Video
This fantastic piece of machinery has been taken out of the Mazda Museum at Hiroshima to celebrate it's 20th anniversary. This car was the main reason I wanted to go to FoS this year, that 700bhp rotary screamer engine is pure audio porn when you hear it in the flesh.
More information about this incredible machine can be found here:

Unfortunately the commentary is quite loud and there is also a Vulcan bomber display happening overhead at the same time! Goodwood is a truly unique event.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 3rd July 2011
All the action from Sunday, Including a crash which happened right in front of me and a whole lot of Grand Prix cars with heavy wheelspin... Enjoy!
Mazda 787B Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011
This is the 1991 Le Mans winning Mazda 787B at the start line of the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed. You can get a good idea of the sound this thing produced by watching the the marshal at the right rear when the car backfires!
Mark Ticehurst at the wheel.
Mazda 787B Startup - Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011
Warming up in the Cathederal Paddock on Sunday morning 3rd July 2011.
Loud? I've stood next to plenty of F1 cars and this was certtainly no quieter.
Although it has only a 9000rpm max engine speed, with 12 combustion cycles PER REVOLUTION (unlike a 4 stroke V12 whihc would only have 6) this car produces 108,000 combustion cycles per minute. That is 36,000 more than a current 2.4l F1 car at 18000rpm!
This is the only real running 787B, there is however a second car which sports the same detailing (even down to Le Mans 1991 driver names) which is in much better (less faded, and less battle scars) whihc is used as a PR car. This car was a static display on the Mazda Cars UK stand also at Goodwood that day.
Enjoy!

Mazda 787b Goodwood FoS 2011 Startup
Great to see this car running again. I was at Le Mans in 1991, I was also there this year but missed it's return run.
