BMW E53 X5 Navigation LCD Screen Replacement DIY

This video details how to remove the OE Navigation system from a E53 X5 as well as the process and procedure for replacing a defective LCD screen. My screen had some dead pixels on it, that is why I replaced it. This will also work on any similar model BMW that has an MKX nav computer, typically found in the E38, E39, E46, E86, E85 and E83 cars. Printable directions can be found here (I did not create these directions, I used them as a reference): http://www.xoutpost.com/article/E53%20Navigation%20Screen%20Replacement.pdf The replacement LCD screen can be purchased here: http://www.eurotech-lcd.com/product.asp?s_id=262&l_id=89 This video uses a trim removal tool, which can be purchased here: http://amzn.to/GYcJgu Note: THE USE OF THIS DIY IS FOR YOUR REFERENCE ONLY. BMW X5 2006 Fuzzy Navigation Display Fix
This video shows a fix to a fuzzed/scrambled display in the navigation screen unit. I cannot tell what the cause of it is, but thanks to a combination of web forum's info and youtube videos, I was able to fix the problem. Unfortunately when doing the video and fixing the unit I skipped recording the inside part of the unit without noticing it. As simple as it was all I did was push and wiggle the ribbons cables since I couldn’t remove them from their base. Luckily the unit is working again… Thanks for watching!!
