I take a look at the new 7th generation BMW 7 Series, and specifically a 730d; playing around with the new remote key and vast array of features present in the car. After a look throughout, a short drive on the road to test some of the features, it's off to Heathrow to pick up a friend who then chauffeurs me back into London - an opportunity to play with more toys! 2011 Camaro SS vs 2010 BMW 750LI 1/4 Mile
13.64 @ 105.02 MPH vs 13.82 @ 102.56 MPH BMW 750LI The BMW 745i/Li (2002-2005) models featured a 4.4L V8 engine outputting 325hp. Later on, the BMW 750i/Li (2006-2008) models featured a slightly more powerful 4.8L V8 engine outputting 360hp. Moreover, the BMW 760i/Li (2002-2005) and 760Li (2006-2008) features a vastly more powerful, performance-tuned 6.0L V12 engine with 438hp. All BMW E65 7 Series models were equipped with the ZF developed 6HP26 6-speed automatic transmission with steptronic mode. Gear selection was made by a stalk on the steering column, and three driving modes were offered: Drive, Sport, Manual. Driving mode selection and gear changes could be made using buttons mounted on the steering wheel. The steering column mounted gear selector was yet another feature later incorporated by Mercedes-Benz into the design of the W221 generation S-Class Long-Wheelbase versions of the BMW E65 7 Series were introduced in the end of 2002. Long-Wheelbase models only featured a longer body which meant extra legroom in the rear seats. The height, width and bootspace of the car is the same. In 2002, early Long-Wheelbase models included the 730Li, 735Li, 745Li, and the 760Li and 740Li was later introduced in 2003 and 2004 respectively. Long-Wheelbase models were 40mm (5.5 in) longer compared to the normal E65 7 Series models. Camaro The Camaro received a complete redesign, and new platform for the 2010 model year/fifth generation. Following the development of the Zeta architecture and because of its position as the GM global center of RWD development, GM Holden in Australia led the final design, engineering, and development of the Camaro. Production of the coupé began on March 16, 2009, in LS, LT, and SS trim levels. LS and LT models are powered by a 3.6 L (220 cu in) V6 producing 312 hp for the 2010 & 2011 model mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic with manual shift. The SS is powered by the 6.2 L (376 cu in) LS3 V8 producing 426 hp and is paired with a 6-speed manual. The automatic SS gets the L99 V8 with 400 hp. The RS appearance package is available on both the LT and SS and features 20-inch wheels with a darker gray tone, halo rings around xenon headlamps, a unique spoiler, and red RS or SS badges. Other features include a fully independent four-wheel suspension system, variable-rate power steering, four-wheel disc brake systems standard on all models (four-piston Brembo calipers on SS models), a StabiliTrak electronic stability/traction control system, Competitive/Sport modes for the stability system offered on SS models, launch control on SS models equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, and 6 standard air bags that include head curtain side-impact air bags and front seat-mounted thorax side air bags. An RS appearance package is available on LT and SS trim levels which include HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, spoiler, and RS-specific taillamps and wheels.
