Dodge Neon Ticking / Knocking
Ticking noise goes away after it reaches normal operating temperature

2005 Dodge Neon horrible noise accelerating
My car started making this terrible noise about 2 weeks ago. When it first started, I went to get my oil changed after not doing so for the past year....I know....the guy who changed it said it was just sludge now so he flushed it and put new oil in. Since then though, it has gotten worse. It's like a grinding/thrumming noise. It will mainly make the noise when I accelerate though now it happens when I'm idling at a stop light. It doesn't do it when I'm in park or neutral and the A/C being on or off doesn't make a difference. I changed my spark plugs the other day and the sound went away almost completely. I noticed it would do it a little bit when I would turn right but accelerating and idling sounded beautiful. The next day, however, it came back as bad as before.
