P0325 Knock Sensor Diagnosis - EricTheCarGuy

As you can see by the title this video covers the diagnosis and repair of a
P0325 on my 1997 Subaru Legacy L model with 2.2L engine backed by an auto
trans. I did have some trouble with the 'factory' diagnostic procedure but
thankfully my friend Mark at Wells Electronics had a test that involved a
voltage drop across the sensor that worked perfectly. I hope this video
illustrates the import ants of understanding a circuit that you're
diagnosing as opposed to just throwing parts at something, with a little
time and effort you can do a proper diagnosis.

1998 Neon SOHC piston slap sound.
Most people freak out and think this is rod knock. It is just the common
piston slap of a cold 2.0 engine in these. The colder it gets the louder
the knock, once the engine gets some heat into it notice the sound becomes
less noticeable, after a good drive when the engine, oil, and coolant gets
completely up to temperature it completely vanishes.
The reason I recorded this in the car is I've found over the years this
sound is clearest sitting in the driver's seat with the door opened half
way so sound from the back of the engine bay makes its way into the
interior easiest without other sounds.
This particular engine has been making this sound since 40,000 miles, still
doesn't smoke or have any issues.
Rattling 02 Dodge Neon
Rattling noise from my 02 dodge neon... I don't know exactly what it is...
I think my camshaft is worn, not sure, if any ideas what it might be, then
let me know, I really appreciate it.
The car doesn't do this noise when it hasn't been on for a while (cooled
off). Just after its warmed up it starts rattling again... It used to be to
where it rattled when I accelerated, but now its all the time it is on and
What Does Engine Pinging / Detonation Sound Like
This is a car engine that has a ping. Also called spark knock, preignition
or detonation. If left uncorrected it can ruin the motor. Caused by either
a lean fuel condition, carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, over
advanced ignition timing, wrong spark plugs, or overheating.
Dodge Neon 2002
Not everything on my dodge neon, just some old pictures. More to come
though within the next few weeks.
Plymouth Neon Engine Rattle
EDIT/UPDATE: Apparently, the noise is the water pump. It wasn't displaying
any of the classic signs of water pump failure, so that never even occurred
to me. But eventually the pump seized and shredded the timing belt.
Replaced those bits, and it's back to normal, sounding great (or, as great
as a Neon can sound, anyway). Thanks to everyone who replied to this with
Anyone have any idea what this noise might be?
This video is documenting an odd rattle that is apparently coming from the
bottom-end of the engine. It's a 2L SOHC four cylinder. No idea what's
making the noise, but it doesn't seem to affect drivability any, nor does
it raise the temperature or muck with the oil pressure.
dodge intrepid engine knock and repair
it was raising hell with engine knock we spent 35.00 on bearings and oil
and 1 1/2 hours had it going. These cars are notorious for this at least
with this motor now he just has to get rid of it!
---------Here goes what we did----------------
1-put on ramps or jackstands
2-drain oil and remove oil filter
3-remove the brace connecting the trans to the oil pan(you can't miss it
takes a 15mm socket)
4-remove the one a/c bolt that goes through the brkt and connects to the
5-remove the 2 10mm bolts going through the timing cover to the oil pan
located beside harmonic balancer these can be a headache with the balancer
on but you can do it
6-remove the oil pna bolts and drop pan
7-remove the oil pump pick-up tube
8-remove the main girdle
9-replacing the rod bearings go through and wiggle each one find the worse
one and remove the cap if this is your worse one check it real good to make
sure it is worth a shot at replacing. If the worse one isn't that bad it's
worth a shot ate replacing them.
10-when replacing the rod bearings do the one at a time and turn the engine
each time to ensure the bearing isn't to tight. Remember keyway to keyway
on the cap and rod
11-torque specs i believe is 15flbs and then a 1/4 turn it's been a while
so you might to double check this.
12. if your not sure of bearing size you can look on the backside of the
old bearing it will say STD which means standard or .010 and so on
13.If any of the crank journals look bad you can clean them up with emory
14.THIS IS NOT A FOR SURE FIX BUT FOR 50.00 AND AN AFTERNOON IT'S WORTH A
SHOT AND WE GOT lUCKY.

2002 Dodge Neon SE This is the Borla NA Exhaust. Not to be confused with the SRT

Thanks for watching. Yeah I know the left side is starting to sag a little
