1991 Eagle Talon 1/4 mile drag racing - Bristol Dragway 2010

Driving my 1991 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD turbo at the legendary Thunder Valley in Bristol, TN. I also managed to destroy the stock 3 bolt rear differential. Luckily, I was still able to drive it home! The car was on a conservative tune, as I was hoping to push it harder as the night progressed. That didn't happen! The car is full weight w/Air Conditioning. CRANKWALKED? 7-bolt teardown 1080HD
Now this is a story all about how My bearings got flipped-turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there And tell you how I used to mix and burn my gas and my air. In RVA suburbs born and raised On the dragstrip is where I spent most of my days Chillin out, maxin, relaxing all cool, 'n all shooting some BS outside with my tools When a couple of guys who were up to no good Started running races in my neighborhood I heard one little knock and my rods got scared And said "You put it in the garage until you figure out where..." I Begged and pleaded that it not be that way, But it didn't want to start and run another day. I kissed it goodbye, because the motor punched its ticket I got out my camera, said "I might as well kick it." Crankwalk yo this is bad Drinking metal shavings from an oil pan. Is this what the rumor of crankwalk is like? Hmm this won't be alright But wait I heard knocking, grinding and all that Is this the type of failure that should happen to this cool cat? I don't think so, I'll see when I get there I hope they're prepared for this video I share. Well I pulled all the bolts and when I came out There were chunks in my fluids in the pan and they drained out I aint all depressed cause I seen this before. I got my books and my wrench and we'll do it once more. I sprang into action like lightning disassembled I whistled while I worked and my hands never trembled If anything you could say that this bling is rare, and when I saw what broke I stained my underwear. I turned off the air compressor 'bout 7 or 8 And I yelled to crankcase "Yo holmes, smell ya later" I looked at my internals they were finally there To sit on my workbench and stink up the air. Audio track by RojoDelChocolate. Here's the 48,000 mile-old 7-bolt I blew up summer 2011 after over 150 drag passes, a half dozen Dyno sessions, 4 transmissions, 3 clutches and 10 years of hard all-weather use.

Carburetor Rebuild Basics (Part 1) -EricTheCarGuy
Carburetor Rebuild Basics covers the basics of rebuilding a carburetor. Now there are a LOT of different carburetors out there so this video won't apply to all of them, but it will give you a general idea of what you would be in for if you decided to rebuild one. Me, I like rebuilding carburetors. There's something about mechanical things like carburetors that interest me. How even the smallest part has a big effect on the overall operation of your engine. Since we've gone to fuel injection carburetors have become somewhat obsolete. I'm still a fan though. I may be a little rusty on this stuff since I haven't done this in some time but I hope this video helps you just the same. If nothing else, I hope you're entertained by it. 1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD: Track, Dyno, Street and more!
This car was a lot of fun. Bought it fully stock and slowly modified to the point where I wanted it to be. Sadly, it is long gone, but I decided to compile a little highlight reel. For entertainment purposes only.

Tom's Turbo Garage: Eagle Talon Test & Tune
Join me on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/TomsturboGarage In this episode, we take my 1991 Eagle Talon AWD turbo to Knoxville Dragstrip to do some shakedown runs with the new turbo setup. Knoxville Dragstrip is 890 feet above sea level. The air temperature during these runs was 65 degrees and the Density Altitude was 1,814 feet above sea level. For all three runs the Boost was set at 27 psi and a 50/50 mix of 93 octane pump gas and 110 octane race gas was used. The car's race weight was approximately 3,390 pounds with driver. The best time/MPH of the night was: 60 ft: 2.091 ET: 7.683 MPH: 106.159 You can see a complete modification list and many more photos and details at http://talon.turbomirage.com Thanks for watching!

eagle talon drag racing
mitsubishi eclipse eagle talon plymoth laser The first generation Talon was released in mid-1989 as a 1990 model and ran through 1994. This era of DSM vehicles is commonly referred to as the first generation, or "1G" for short. However, there were two 1G styles. The "1GA" models of 1990-1991 featured pop-up headlights lights and a "6-bolt" engine, while the "1GB" model of 1992-1994 featured composite style headlights with integrated turn signals. The 1993-1994 base model DL was front-wheel drive and used a 92-horsepower 1.8 L engine (4G37). The ES model (or just the base Talon before 1993) sported a naturally aspirated 2.0 L 135 hp Mitsubishi 4G63 engine. The TSi and TSi AWD models used the same engine but added an intercooled Mitsubishi 14b turbocharger producing 11.06 psi of peak Boost from the factory, resulting in 195 horsepower (145 kW) on TSi AWD models. The front-drive TSi produced only 190 due to a more restrictive Exhaust system, and the automatics produced 180 due to a 13g turbo. Regardless of trim level turbo lag is severe, however when the turbo "kicks in" the power comes on strong. A simple modification would be venting the blow off valve (stock of aftermarket) into the atmosphere which helps the turbo lag and yeilds mid 14 second quater mile times. The "6-bolt" engine on all Talons built before April 1992 refers to the number of bolts connecting the flywheel to the crankshaft. All 1G Talons built after April 1992.5 received a freer revving "7-bolt" engine borrowed from the 1992 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution's lighter rods and 7-bolt crankshaft. These engines are considered the easiest 10 second cars to date. As seen at Racelegal.com friday night
