The HTR Z II (High Technology Radials-2nd generation) is Sumitomo\'s Ultra High Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans. The HTR Z II is designed to blend a unique appearance, dry and wet performance and ride comfort. Like all summer tires, the HTRZ II is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The HTR Z II molds a high performance tread compound featuring ultra micro carbon technology and silica-based rubber into a directional pattern that features wide, arched tread blocks to enhance dry road traction and handling. A circumferential center rain groove and multi-direction water channels resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. The tire\'s internal structure features two steel belts with spirally wrapped Jointless Nylon Band reinforcement to enhance high-speed durability while minimizing weight and improving ride uniformity. The lower sidewall features Single Strand Beads for improved wheel fit and Wheel Flange Guards to help protect alloy wheels from accidental curb damage.

After 7 or 8000 miles the tires became noticeably noisier. They are a joy to drive on when new. Previous reviewer with the BMW claimed to have obtained 41000 miles on these tires but he says the tires were on the car when he bought it. I think he doesn\'t really know how many miles the tires have been on the car. My wife drives this car and she drives like a little old lady from Pasadena. There is no way you will ever get more that 15 or 20,000 miles out of these tires unless you carry them in the trunk of your car as a spare. Maybe the other reviews fills his with concrete. There are a lot of tires you can buy thatare better, however the Sumitomos are 1/2 to 1/3 the price of similar tires in this speed rating so the price makes up for other deficiencies. For that money I buy them and change them out more often. If I was using $300 plus Michelins I\'d feel a lot worse changing them out when they still had usable tread left on them.
Review from June 27, 2016Rating: 8Had this tire a second time. Lasted 45K miles to date, worn down to the steel belt, but still running quiet and cornering very well. I usually drive at high speed on highways. These tires are very responsiveand stable on quick turns and cornering, wore out evenly. The sidewalls are stiff so cornering is like on rails, compared to the Kumho Ecsta with weak side walls that make the car wobble on turns. These tires are low priced but have proved much better in handling, cornering, tread wear and road noise than all other brand, and are one of the best values in Ultra High Performance W-rated tires. Will buy Sumitomo again, with the HTR P02 87V HP All Season rated 600 A A.
Review from June 16, 2016Rating: 8.14Don\'t let the price fool you, these are goodtires. I bought them because I wanted good handling and low noise and I got both. This is my second set of Sumitomo HTR Z II - the previous set was on a much heavier car a few years ago and they performed well (Mercedes S600 - V12). About a week after I had them on my SL500 I had the opportunity to take my car out to a track event and I was pleasantly surprised at how well they performed. The lowroad noise is what I like the most about them because convertibles can be loud with the wind and you don\'t want to add on noise from your tires.
