The main function of the electric fuel pump is to consistently supply fuel at pressure as high as 75 psi or more providing the engine with enough fuel at the required pressure for proper performance. The typical pump has an impeller attached to the end of the motor shaft that draws in fuel from one end and pushes it out at the other end of the pump. For accurate fuel level indication, the pump module has a fuel sending unit that consists of a float connected to a variable resistor.
