Up for sale is a completely restored 1967 Pontiac GTO carburetor. This is an original L6 dated round tag Rochester Quadrajet carburetor with a perfect blue tag (very rare to find one still intact).
This carburetor has been completely rebuilt and restored by Cliffs High Performance. I wrote the book on Quadrajet carburetors that is available from Car Tech, so buy with confidence that this carburetor is completely and correctly rebuilt and will function perfectly on your 1967 Pontiac 400 engine.
The restoration process included bronze bushings installed in the throttle body to reduce shaft side play to less than .001\". The bottom plugs were sealed up with Marine Tex and pressure tested at 140psi. A heli-coil was installed in the inlet for the fuel filter housing to prevent stripped threads during a fuel filter replacement.
All metal parts were plated and the main casting and airhorn zinc/chromated using the original chromic acid process, nothing on this carburetor is painted which is a common practice now with the cost and difficulty of getting the correct materials to restore these carburetors.
All of the fasteners have been replaced with the correct fillister or pan head black zinc plated screws. We included black zinc lock washers under all of the fillister head fasteners.
All of the internal components have been replaced with ethanol compatible parts, which include the float, needle/seat assembly, accelerator pump, and high quality non-stick gaskets. The original calibration was also upgraded slightly for the 1967 Pontiac 400 engine to operate on currently available pump fuel, which is oxygenated and contains ethanol. So no need to drive out of your way for non-ethanol fuel, this carb will function fine on ethanol blended pump fuel.
The needle/seat assembly is the correct .135\" high flow seat with Viton tipped needle. The accelerator pump has been upgraded to the modern design with a garter spring under the Viton seal and custom wound springs to improve pump efficiency. The pump seal comes with a lifetime warranty as it is made to our specifications and far superior to anything else out there, even fine in any concentration of ethanol including E-85.
The carburetor has new jets, primary and secondary metering rods and power piston spring. It has been tested on a real engine and functioned flawlessly in all areas.
