A Pair of New, Custom Made Range Rover Classic Speaker Covers
If you own a 1995 Range Rover Classic “Soft Dash”, it’s likely your speaker covers are broken or completely missing. Mine were as well so I set out to make replacements.
I first investigated 3D printing but learned the part is too large and that many 3D printed parts are still very brittle or weak. We then settled on casting them from original covers. This process only yields about 10 pairs per set of molds, but that works well for low production manufacturing like this as ABS injection molding is cost prohibitive.The screens are new as well and the logos are 3D printed. Once complete, they are painted in an automotive paint booth.
As you can see, the new covers look great on my door panels and really dress up the look of your Rover. For you technical types, I’ve included the ASTM characteristics of the plastic resin used showing strength and temperature tolerances. These are not as strong as today's ABS plastics, but I have had no issues with mine and they are far better than the aging plastic in these older vehicles.
