Q: Can these really be used as a functional step? A: Of course, our nerf bars are a Professional Grade step and have a weight rating of 350 Lbs. per side. Q: Does the installation require drilling? A: Not on most applications, however, the older Jeeps (pre 86) and older Chevy trucks (73-87) do require drilling. Q: What color step pad is on the nerf bars? A: All of our steps have Black step pads. Due to different cameras and lighting the color in the ad may “appear” black or grey. Q: How many step pads will be on my nerf bars? A: There will be 1 step pad for each door. Extended cab trucks with 3 doors will have 4 step pads. Wheel to wheel series nerf bars for trucks will have in addition to the step pads for the cab doors; 2 extra step pads, 1 per side, at the bed area. Q: Does it require special care to maintain the finish on the nerf bars? A: No, they can be cleaned with mild soap and water and are safe to run through automatic car washes. We suggest an annual coat of wax while you are waxing your vehicle. Q: Are these DIY or Do-it-Yourself friendly? A: Absolutely, they are very simple to install and only require basic hand tools. A typical installation can be completed in less than an hour. Q: Are the brackets included? A: Definitely. Every set of our Professional Grade nerf bars includes powder coated brackets, all hardware, and detailed instructions. Q: What is the difference between Chrome and Stainless nerf bars? A: We sell stainless steel nerf Bars; they are polished to a mirror like finish. Chrome nerf bars are dipped into a chemical bath hopefully without impurities and then dried. Stainless steel does not peel, ever. Q: Which is better E-coated black nerf bars or Powder Coated black nerf bars? A: On a Good-Better-Best quality scale, E-Coat is Best, Powder Coat is Better, and Paint is Good. E-coat is an electrically charged coating like that of powder coating. The improvement is the fact that E-coat is double-dipped; first in a pre-treatment Zinc Phosphate cleaner, then in the electrocoat bath. This removes far more impurities and encapsulates the tube in the phosphate/E-coat finish. Then the tube is baked in an oven that hardens and cures the protective E-coat finish. Our return policy is straight forward and customer friendly. You can feel confident shopping with us - after all, we\'ve been in business over 30 years. We will take any item back within 30 days of purchase as long as it is within the constraints of the manufacturer\'s warranty return policy (which we are obligated to honor) and the following conditions are met:

The item must be in original, unused condition and must be returned in the original packaging.
We are unable to accept any item that has been installed and/or damaged. In addition, we cannot accept return items that are not in the original packaging. These are constraints set by product manufacturers and we are obligated to honor their policies on returns. Items returned in poor condition or having parts missing will not be credited.

Return shipping charges must be paid by the customer.
Unless our company or the listing is in error, the customer is responsible for paying return shipping costs.

  • FOR RETURNS: A 20% restocking fee, plus the cost of shipping the item to the customer, will be charged on items returned without an exchange.
