All of the points I brought up in the previous review have been eliminated nowthat the tire has been broken in. Traction is absolutely incredible. As I writethis, we are in the midst of a massive downpour. I went out driving on city streets, country backroads, and the Interstate at speeds varying from 25 to 75 MPH. This tire took everything like a champ. Not once did I hydroplane, start to lose traction, slide, or even doubt that the tire wouldn't avoid doing these. The wet traction is absolutely fantastic and leaps and bounds better than the previous Defenders I had. Stopping distance in the wet is practically IDENTICAL, and Imean *identical* to dry conditions. I have no doubts about this tire's ability to perform and protect in inclement weather. Noise and ride quality have significantly improved. My car doesn't have a lot of sound dampening materials in it (as most family sedans in the early 00s didn't), but driving down the road with the radio off and windows up... I hear more noise from the engine than I do from the tires. Ride quality over bumps, cracks, and potholes have improved as well, it is buttery smooth, and I have replaced the front springs and shocks with Monro-branded ones which are firmer than Honda OE. If I was on OE suspension all around, my car would more than likely be a pillow on wheels. Steering response is lightning quick, and cornering at speed has improved too, although the sidewall is*slightly* softer compared to other tires. As a result of this, I am improving my rating of this tire and without a doubt, this tire will be going on my Accordagain when it is time for new tires.
Review from August 6, 2016Rating: 7.2Purchased these tires a few days ago and had them installed by Tire Rack themselves at their South Bend location. These tires replaced a set of Michelin Defenders with 4/32nds tread left, and my review will be comparing these two. Compared to the Defender, grip and braking is vastly improved. These tires (the Premier A/S) just don't lose grip, regardless of what's going on. However, I am considering returning them for these reasons. Firstly, the noise level is similar to the Defender. It's not crazy loud, but it's not a quiet tire either. They do make pronounceable nose, especially on cross-grooved and rough surfaces. Ride comfort is good, but not great. Again, pretty much comparable to the Defender. Continental seems to be better at making "plusher" riding tires, and I am considering swapping the Premier A/S for a set of Continental TrueContact or PureContacts. If you own a different Michelin tire, such as the Defender or Primacy series and are happy with noise and comfort levels - by all means, buy this tire. You'll love it. It's the same as those tires, but the grip and traction has been amped up. For me, they may not be a good fit, but I am more sensitive to ride comfort and noise. For what it's worth, I had to swap the two front tires around after install because my steering wheel wasn't centered, I had to drive with it angled to the right in order to go straight. Not sure if that is a defective tire, or a bad balancing job on Tire Rack's end. But Iwanted to mention that regardless.
